happened. security is extremely tight as 1 million people cram into new york city's time square for new year's eve festivities and the final touches are being put on their costumes as the mummers prepare to strut on broad street. first, a check of the new year's eve forecast, chris sowers is at the "action news" big board with a look ahead of the holiday weekend and looking good for the revelers. >> reporter: it looks fantastic. temperatures are chilly this morning, but with sunshine we expect the numbers to warm up quhikly this -- quickly this afternoon. feels like 27 in allentown. with the wind, 23 in philadelphia. trenton, 28. feels like a blustery and cold 60 degrees in the poconos. satellite and radar just a few clouds out to the west, lake-effect snow has stopped as the clouds moved in and the winds have begun to die down. we'll see the lake-effect snow

machine turning on later on this afternoon. for us, high pressure in control, it will keep the clouds away to start the day, high, thin clouds to the west begin to increase later on. with the cloud cover expected overnight tonight, it keeps the temperatures on the mild side. as you head outside later this evening, for the new year's celebration. temperatures will be close to 40 which is close to the normal high for this time of the year. here's the way it plays out today, 9:00 a.m., 33. 11:00 a.m., 38. 3:00 p.m., 45, we're shooting for a high of 47 more rain on the way next week. we could make another run at 60 degrees by tuesday. i'll have the details in the seven day coming up in just a bit. >> alicia. >> thank you. now to breaking news, a police ground and air search is happening right now in central pennsylvania where a state trooper was shot to death on the job. they are looking for this man, 32-year-old jason robison. police say he opened fire on

out about election hacking. vladimir putin is refusing to expel american diplomats always retaliation for obama's sanctions. donald trump rejected claims that russia helped him win the election through this hacking. firefighters tamed an inferno that wiped out 14 businesses in new york city. three firefighters were hurt battling the fire. they got to the call in queens in three minutes, but by then flames were racing through concealed spaces spreading from store to store. the stores were fixtures for generations in that neighborhood. >> it has been here our whole life. we just watch the whole block burn down. it's heartbreaking. >> think about all the business owners people who work in the store, the impact on the

we can expect as the clock ticks toward 2017. >> reporter: it's cold out there right now, but later this afternoon with all the sunshine temperatures get up to 46, 47. 27 in allentown that's cold. 30 in millville. trenton -- millville, 22. atlantic city, 27 degrees. there's a slight breeze, generally wind speeds are 3 to 5 miles per hour out of the south/southwest. they will increase 10 to 15. it will be breezy, but with temperatures up in the 40 it will feel all right. high pressure planted over top of us, it is sitting right here. it will keep things dry today and tomorrow. look at all the moisture building again, that's the forecast monday and tuesday. enjoy the dry weather this weekend, because the weather changes.

11:00 a.m., 38 degrees. 3:00 p.m., 45 and 5:00 p.m., 45 shooting for a comfortable high today of 47. this actually is warmer as we head into tomorrow, when we come back in just a few minutes, i'll have the details and a run at 60. >> we're staying on top of breaking news this saturday morning, an all-out manhunt is happening right now for a man accused of killing a pennsylvania state trooper. overnight we got a look at the face of the alleged killer. trooper landon weaver on the job not even a year was responding 0 to a protection from abuse call. the man you're looking at right there, jason robison shot trooper weaver and took off. an army of police is scouring the area by ground and air looking for a trace of robison. some residents have been evacuated as the search goes on. >> we've seen two helicopters

and i couldn't tell how many undercover cop cars state police cars, i hope everything is already. >> five or six families are down there, some of their families are home, the rest of us are waiting in the church parking lot homing we can get home soon. state police say robison's may be dyed purple. he is considered armed and dangerous. anyone who comes in contact with him is asked to call 911. in a statement, governor tom wolf said in part -- wolf said the state police are our bravest and best pennsylvanians who risk their lives keep all our families

safe. four people were shot outside a concert of philadelphian meek mills. shots were fired late last night. authorities have not linked the shooting to the performance or meek mills, but two people are dead. new this morning, a woman was critically injured after being hit by an suv in northeast philadelphia. this happened at 9th and fairdale roads around 11:00 p.m. witnesses say the woman was behaving erratically before the crash. she has been hospitalized. the driver did stop and has not been charged. there's extra security in place as everyone enjoys a safe celebration as we ring in 2017. the big draw will be the fireworks display over the delaware river at penns landing. there are two shows at 6:00 p.m. and midnight. as jeff chirico explains there's plenty of ways to ring in the

streaming in from the west. the clouds will lower and thicken this evening. the model you saw moisture trying to pop up here, the air is so dry if you check your app and look at the radar and it appears if it is raining, more than likely it is not doing anything at all. the air is so dry, it will eat it up and the moisture will evaporate. midnight, cloudy skies and mild temperatures somewhere between 37 and 40 years in time to ring in the new year. very, very comfortable stuff. look at the low to mid 40s across south jersey and delaware. forecast for today, partly sunny, breezy, nice. 47 degrees is the forecast the high. the winds beginning to shift now out of the southwest let's say 10 to 20 miles per hour. that 47 will feel like 43 or 44. overnight tonight, these are the temperatures closer to dawn partly cloudy and breezy, 32 degrees outlying suburbs, 38 for center city. this is what to expect around midnight. through the evening we're in the mid 40s by 4:00 p.m.
