acknowledging the worst in the tragic case of a missing team. it's wednesday night and this is the first day of tragedy in mercer county. dann cuellar is live at roblin roebling. >> the boys decided to go for a swim but there were flash winds and things went wrong. >> describing the nightmare scene the minute them jumped bo thinto the water at the park. he and three friends got caught up in a current. >> we tried to grab him. the current was so strong and took him from my hand. he was going down, coming up

gasping for air. >> he saw marty being swept away by the current, gasping for air as he bobbed up and down. he didn't know how to swim. he shouldn't have gone in. >> jarred's mom rush today the scene after her boyfriend heard a teenager had gone missing. >> i assumed it was jarred. he can swim but could he keep above water. >> he was safe with jame's mom. >> mercy for one mother, agony for another as search teams continued to search for the young man. neighbors conveying the unthinkable soon to be confirmed by authorities. >> all operations have stopped due to lighting and concern for the safety of the firefighters. >> now the recovery operation for the 17-year-old will resume

in the morning. the superintendent of schools says today was the last day of school and counselors will be made available tomorrow for students mourning this loss. i'm dann cuellar, channel6 "action news." >> abc news has learned exclusively that two members of the cosby jury held out for an acquittal causing the deadlock and ultimately the mistrial against cosby. abc news talked to one of the jurors after the judge released the names of all of the jurors today. on two counts of aggravated assault, 10 to convict and two to acquit. the jurors say the 10-2 vote was reached after 30 hours of deliberations when the jury told the judge they were deadlocked. that's when deliberations ended because nothing changed over the next 22 hours.

in the words of the juror to abc news, there was no budging from there on out. kevin steele has said he would retry the case, hoping a different jury will render a different verdict. a quick burst of storm stors meant a soaker for many of us. thousands were without power tonight. the rains came fast and furious turning the evening commute into a slow go leading to untold numbers of trees down like the 8200 block of mitchner avenue where it fell on to a home. another toppled in lardner. lawn hurst, another crushed an suv along griffith street at parks. the same happened in mayfair. kathleen captured video of the tree falling on to her suv on

surveillance camera. she just bought the mitsubishi a month ago. her neighbors spent the evening sweeping up the branches. when storms snap power lines, it can cause more than out ages, they set fires in glad win this afternoon and were too dangerous for firefighters to approach until the power was cut. homeowner joe had a similar incident. his roof was damaged and the street caught fire from live wires coming down. this was the 7900 block in northeast philadelphia. inspectors were on the scene to assess the aftermath. peco says there are 7900 customers without power, down from 32,000 at the peak.

the majority in montgomery county and philadelphia. authorities will work through the night to restore power to everyone by morning. meanwhile, christie ileto has been following a difficult night on the septa rails. commuters vacated their trains and walked and in some cases ran down the tracks. this one example of a weather related breakdown. christie is live at the station in bryn mawr. christie? >> it was frustration on the line. some waited onboard for over an hour and took drastic measures to get home. >> people just started getting off. there were hundreds and hundreds of people on the track. >> how long have you been waiting? >> between philly and here, over an hour. >> losing patience.

septa passengers were spotted hurrying across the tracks down the rails to the bryn mawr station platform. this is one of many on the line stopped in its tracks after a squall of evening storms downed trees and caused power and signal issues at the height of evening rush. those onboard suffered delays of over an hour. >> septa needs to do a better job training employees. everyone was sitting there a long time. >> what do you do? they don't even make announcements, not that often. just we are on hold and that's about it. >> septa had one of four downed lines. >> how is this public transportation if one five minute storm can shut you down like that? >> amtrak opens the line and workers were on scene trying to

springfield burlington county. >> fire crews battled a fire at a junk yard. the flame damaged 20 salvage vehicles. no one was hurt. >> we have all heard the term squatter's right, but we have a from germantown that may give new meaning to that story. the squatters are allowed to stay and the property owner is under arrest. annie mccormick is working on that now. how does that work? >> the germantown landlord said he e jicted a tenant out of one of his units and three people he never saw before moved into the unit. when he tried to kick them out, he wound up in jail. >> who the hell is in here? i changed the locks thursday.

what the hell is going on. >> the landlord an property owner says squatters took over last week. >> we have no idea their names. no paper work has been provided to my client. >> frank's attorney said he called police but the squatters did too alleging frank and friends attacked them with baseball bats. they are charged with burglary, terroristic threats and simple assault. >> he's charged with burglary of his own property, and the offending party, offended by his burglary, are the squatters who have broken into his property not once but twice. >> because of an order from the court his client will be arrested if he tries to get inside his property though he lives in one of the units.

murder. the gloucester prosecutor office says 47-year-old michelle long died of blunt force trauma. she was found saturday in her backyard swimming pool. prosecutors didn't identify a suspect but say there is no safety concern for neighbors. >> the philadelphia housing authority broke ground on its new headquarters today. the building is located in north philadelphia on ridge avenue. mayor kenney and other city leaders were on hand for the complex consolidating offices across the city. tonight the police organization celebrated its 70th year providing athletic and educational opportunities for those across the city.

tropical storm cindy, a storm that has claimed the life of an alabama boy. cindy is expected to make landfall in louisiana sometime after midnight. much of the area is under a tornado threat. the fbi is treating a stabbing attack at an airnt in flint michigan as terrorism. the suspect stabbed a police officer in the neck with a 12-inch knife. he was quickly apprehended and identified as a 49-year-old canadian citizen. the fbi has no indication of a wider plot. the wounded officer helped subdue the subject and is in stable condition tonight. >> president trump basked in the delirious embrace of his
