government shut down since 2006 after lawmakers failed to pass a budget. the shut down comes as we kick off the 4th of july holiday week. we'll tell you what you need to know before you hit the road. meteorologist chris sowers joining us now outside with a look at the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, of course, people heading to the shore and the poconos in the city, everyone has their eyes on this holiday weekend, chris. >> reporter: it's not too bad, the only issue is a a couple of thunderstorms developing later on. it's typical hot weather and temperatures near 90-degree and fair amounts of humidity. 78 degrees in philadelphia underneath a mostly cloudy sky. allentown, 75. high humidity levels in the lehigh valley. millville, 75. dover, 77. trenton, 76. cape may, 68. atlantic city at the airport, 73. satellite and radar lots of clouds in place we're not expecting too much in the way of sunshine. the jersey shore if there's one

location that will pick up more sun than anybody else, probably the jersey shore, even there we're not expecting wall-to-wall blue skies, partly sunny type of day warm and sticky. we'll see what happens with the line showers and thunderstorms approaching from the west. right now it doesn't look to impressive. as we pick up the heating of the sun, that's when things will start to blossom here and the showers and thunderstorms arrive around 4:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m. this afternoon. for today, the call from accuweather in philadelphia. clouds and sun, warm and sticky, high of 89 with the humidity it will make it feel like the mid 90s. showers and thunderstorms developing late. as a matter of fact here's future tracker 6, 5:00 p.m. it's hitting the western suburbs and then it pushes through the city by 7:00 p.m., or 7:30 p.m. when i come back we'll look at that with future tracker 6 and she how long it last in the exclusive accuweather seven-day

forecast and talk about cooler changes next week. we're following breaking news out of new jersey. the state government is shut down. if you're just waking up, lawmakers failed to reach an agreement on the budget by the midnight deadline. this is the first time the state government has shut down under republican governor chris christie who tweeted after midnight i have issued an executive horde declaring a state of emergency to maintain the protection, safety and well-being of the people of new jersey. chris christie said he will not sign off on the state budget unless democrats agree to take surplus funds from horizon blue cross blue shield to pay for drug treatment programs, now the leader of the democrat controlled state assembly said he cannot support the measure because it would be bad for policy holders of blue cross. saturday chris christie is blaming the shut down on creato saying he unnecessarily stalled the budget process forcing the

closure and inconveniencing everyone visiting abbey -- and living in our state. >> he is holding the budget ransom with the 24 members that have obtained and should be voting for it, and these are the members that are shutting down government at this time. >> chris christie called a special session today we'll tell you how it will impact your holiday plans. from our delaware newsroom a partisan fight in dover has caused lawmakers to enter the first part of the fiscal year without passing a budget. democrats want to raise tax to recover the short fall. today is the beginning of a long four day holiday weekend.

about the life cut short. >> they was a great human being. >> reporter: family members watched from the balcony from the home where they got the news wednesday, bianca roberson was killed a victim of apparent road rage. >> it's surreal, i can't pick up the phone and call her and tech her and come over and see her. >> i expected so much greatness in her. i'm trying to so hard not to be angry. him. >> reporter: bianca roberson's mother spoke for the first time. >> i don't know who did this, i don't know who stole my baby from me, i don't know why they would want to steal my baby from me, i want to thank everyone, family, friends, strangers, neighbors, in a late afternoon news conference police re-released a sketch of the suspect who allegedly shot bianca roberson as they tried to merge into the same lane. the car crashed into a tree, blurry images show the suspect's

red pickup fleeing on the shoulder of 202 at paoli pike. detectives continue friday looking for clearer images along the escape route. >> it is crucial, the family deserves this society in generally deserves this. >> we hope this guy is caught so he can be brought to justice for our daughter. >> reporter: that suspect is described as a white male with blonde or light brown hair in his 20s or 30s, if you recognize him, you're asked to call west goshen police. crime stoppers is offering a five thousand dollars reward. in westtown township, jeff chirico channel 6 "action news." >> abc news has learned that 17 people were shot in a nightclub overnight and more were injured trying to escape. at this point this is what we know. police say the shooting happened at the power lounge in little

rock at 2:30 a.m. one in critical condition, police do not believe this was an active shooter or terror-related incident. they believe it was a dispute at a concert. no information about the suspect. 22-year-old man is in the hospital after he was shot multiple times in the stomach in southwest philadelphia. this happened around 11:15 p.m. between 8th -- 8 on 0th street. from the overbrook section a 19-year-old is in critical condition after an attempted robbery. the victim was approached on wood crest avenue around midnight. the two got into a scuffle the teenager was shot in the stomach. the gunman ran off. victim was taken to penn

>> two people were seriously injured when a small plane crash landed on a busy highway in los angeles. cell phone video shows the plane skimming above a couple of cars and clipping a truck and burst into a fireball. other drivers pulled the pilot and passenger out of the plane that had just taken off from a nearby airport. the pilot reported a may day saying they lost an engine. luckily nobody on the ground was injured gloonchts three people were injured in a small plane crash in hawaii. it missed a plane overpass by two feet and crashed into a nearby stream in honolulu. witnesses said the plane dropped so quickly it may have been experiencing engine trouble. 7:12 a.m., if you're just waking up welcome to saturday morning, a little humid out there? >> reporter: it's july. >> it is. >> reporter: it's does feel like

orlando, that's for sure. >> first day of july, that means dog days of summer. >> reporter: they are here, the humidity will be a big issue today. temperature-wise we're close to 90 degrees, as we go live on sky6 live hd, overlooking penns landing, it's the humidity that makes things rather uncomfortable throughout the day. our forecasted high today, 89 or perhaps 90 with the humidity it will feel like the mid 90s at times. let's flip it over to satellite and radar you can see behind me we have clouds in place for the most part over the delaware and the lehigh valleys. it is this system right here out to the west that's what we're watching closely. that's a cold front. when that gets in here, the thunderstorms could be on the stronger side. we'll be talking about the powerful winds again, 60-plus miles per hour and brief heavy downpours. wilmington, 77. millville, 75. atlantic city at the airport, 73. cooler in cape may. right now we're showing

68 degrees. out in lancaster, presently 75 degrees. storm tracker 6 live showing for the most part we have mainly clear conditions, but again, we're watching this kline closely to the -- this line closely to the west. you can see the heavy downpours in the reds, buffalo and syracuse and pittsburgh. as we get the heating of the day, the atmosphere becomes unstable, that line will blossom later on. it's in association with the cold front coming in from the west. this cold front will not drop the temperatures down, but it will knock the humidity out. tomorrow we're talking about the highs in the 90s, but without the humidity. this front slides through monday, and the humidity begins to increase again and high temperatures in the low 90s. it will stay in the 90s over the next several days, but the humidity will go back and forth.

sun and clouds, maybe a stray shower or brief thunderstorm ahead of the main line that starts to get active by 5:00 p.m., especially for the western suburbs, in the city by 7:00 p.m., 7:30 p.m. it starts to encounter more stable air across south jersey and delaware, it disappears. it's the city, north and west that have the best chances of seeing strong to severe weather. late-day thunderstorm that's the general headline for today. brief, but heavy downpours a good bet with the line, powerful winds in excess of 60, 65 miles per hour. high temperatures throughout the area, upper 80s across the board, close to 90. toms river, 85. cape may, 79 there. dover, 86. reading, 87 degrees and up there in allentown, 86. clouds and some sun, warm and sticky, late late-day showers ad thunderstorms.

numerous showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. cape may, 69 degrees. dover and wilmington, 77. dewpoints are very, very high. millville, 74. philadelphia, 72. wilmington, 73. look at dover, unbelievable, 77. remember, 60 considered slightly humid. 65 is humid. 70 is oppressive. we have numbers in the 70s at this point. unfortunately they are not going to be dropping anytime soon as we set this in motion, there it goes, what you would have saw there, is that dewpoints remain in the low to mid 70s throughout the day before things finally calm down a little bit overnight tonight. that's with an approaching cold front. what we're watching with the front. you look toward the left-hand side of the screen. you see clouds by pittsburgh and buffalo, you see showers and downpours, that line will get active over the next few hours as we start to pick up the heating from the sun. it means a line of showers and thunderstorms for us later this afternoon. we can stop the clock at 7:00,

starting this weekend any juvenile out without a parent or guardian between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. can be stopped by police. trish hartman channel 6 "action news." >> and if you want to celebrate the 4th of july this weekend there are several fireworks shows planned. in atlantic city the fireworks show gets underway at 9:00 at the borgata and second show planned for 10:00 at the tropicana. there will be firing in rehoboth beach. officials say arrive early because the fireworks could happen anytime after 8:00 p.m. depending on the weather. and you can watch the fireworks at the great plaza at penns landing again tonight that's a look at last night's show. the free concert begins at 8:00 p.m. the fireworks expected to kickoff around 9:30 p.m. we have a full list of the firing shows across the delaware valley at the search continues this morning for the man who shot and

killed an 18-year-old during a road rage encounter. police released this sketch of the gunman who they say killed bianca roberson. they say the driver attempted to merge into the same southbound lane on 100 chester county when the situation turned deadly. bianca roberson was shot in the head before he had crashed her car. the recent high school graduate and college bound teenager, her friends and family members gathering to remember her and her life and plea for her killer to come forward. >> i don't know who did this, i don't know who stole my baby from me, i don't know why they would want to steal my baby from me, i want to thank everyone, family, friends, strangers, neighbors. >> five thousand dollar reward is being offered to find the driver. police say he feels in a red pickup truck with faded paint. >> we have video from the horrifying nightclub shooting in arkansas. at least 17 people were shot and

many more hurt trying to escape. [shots fired] >> this is new video just in from inside the club at the time of the shooting overnight at the 5th point. police say the shooting happened at the power lounge in little rock after 2:30 a.m. one person is in critical condition, the other injuries do not appear to be life threatening, police do not believe it was an active shooter or terror related incident. they believe it was a dispute at a concert. at this time there is no information about a suspect, but here's a first look inside that nightclub in arkansas. new this morning, water crews are trying to get a handle on a water main break in west philadelphia. this is the scene around 6:00 a.m. on the 6000 block of haverford avenue. parts of that street are shut down. thousands of gallons of water have poured on the street and caused part of the road to buckle in front of the 19th

police district. the water has been shut off. no word when the street reopens. new this morning, it was a busy night with firefighters in pennsauken, camden county. they battled a fire that damaged a home on the 3200 block of horner avenue. it took firefighters 30 minutes to get control of the flames. nobody was inside the home and now investigators are trying to determine how the fire started. president trump under republican senators to repeal the affordable care act and replace it later with a new plan. mr. trump was denied that request. the president under lawmakers in tweet if they were unable to pass a bill repeal it and replace it at a later date. senate majority leader said while the healthcare bill is challenging, he has no interest in the president's strategy. good samaritans come to the rescue when the minivan crashes into a western pennsylvania creek.

her 15-year-old daughter was able to get out of the minivan and run for help. people who lived nearby helped her out. one woman held the woman's head above water while they flipped the car. >> she was strapped in, i couldn't get the strap loose, so i cut the strap. the woman was flown to a pittsburgh hospital. police do not believe her injuries are life threatening. parts of our area were inundated with rain and damaging winds before the start of the holiday weekend. the storm hit berks county, bringing heavy rain to reading. this is what the drenching rain looked like when all the water overwhelmed the storm drains and led to street flooding n kutztown here's a look at the damage as a tree came down on a house on the five hundred block of sheridan road. storms moving through, with this kind of weather, this is what to expect. >> reporter: the rain is good.
