weather ends with another round of severe thunderstorms with lightning and a lot of rain. a flash-flood warning is in effect through parts of the area throughout the night. >> sunday night, i'm sarah bloomquist. walter has the night off. the big story on "action news" is another night of severe weather. as the weather comes out we are seeing dangerous flooding. this is the scene in greenville, delaware on route 141 which had to be shut down. a driver got out of his vehicle to unclog the drains along the road. police officerswere also on the rain keeping him safe st to slow down surrounding traffic. this video just in, you are looking at the aftermath of a rescue also in, in greenville, delaware. three people were trapped inside the card near barley mill road.
firefighters got to the people and pulled them to safety. no one was hurt but their vehicle appears to be a loss. this is the scene in chad's forward where you see giant pools on the roadway. drivers were forced to take it slow or go around. this happened on creek road earlier this evening. this is how the same area looked later tonight. high water reaching up nearly half way up the street signs. clearly the road is not passible by car or on foot. fans at an outdoor rock concert in the city spring garden section were drenched as they waited for the lightning to stop. the heavy metal band slayer was scheduled to play 7:00 p.m. outside the electric factory but the weather didn't cooperate. fans waited for the show to start. a few brought ponchos.
now to melissa magee. she's tracking the system with a first check of the forecast. >> flash flooding is a danger tonight. never drive through flooded roadways because you can't tell the depth of water beneath you. we are tracking heavy raight right now, heavier moisture moving into south jersey. we are under a severe thunderstorm warning for salem and gloucester county. franklinville and deerfield, this is throughout the night. we have been dealing with a lot of rain in glassboro, storms moving east 15 miles per hour. same in el motor with thunderstorms there prsessing eets ward to berlin. we expect the showers and storms to continue the rest of tonight.
west southwest news castle county, 1.9 inches of rain. four inches in chats ward. cedaredville, centreville 2.20-inches and portions two inches farther west. tonight, locally heavy rain, two to four inches possible in some locations. this triggers ponding on roadways where you have the rain in a short amount of time. coming up we have a closer look at the forecast. we broke the heat wave today but it's unsettled tomorrow. >> check this out, an "action news" video by a viewer who saw this spout. there are no reports of injuries or damage. >> be sure to tune into "action news" at 4:30 tomorrow morning
for more on the severe storms and aftermath. we track the forecast through the night and bring you the latest starting at 4:30 a.m. >> in other news, an 11-year-old boy is hospitalized at children's hospital tonight after being hit by a stray bullet while sitting in his own home. it happened last night in chester delaware county. the bullet went through the door. trish hartman is at the hospital with the latest on the investigation. trish? >> sarah, police say the 11-year-old boy is in stable condition tonight. he was transferred here after he was truck by a tray bullet in the chest inside his own home and police are looking for the one that pulled the trigger. >> chester police say just before 10:00 p.m. they were
called for a report of shooting. we knew the cars were shot and the door was shot up but had no idea the boy across the alley was hit. >> police say a stray bullet went through the back door of this home and hit an 11-year-old boy in the chest. he was transferred to chop. people that live near the boy's home were in shock when they found out. >> it's scary. now the kids, we'll chemothem, from here, you can't go around the block anymore. >> the kids play in the alley between the streets all the time. today she told her 11-year-old grandson was shot. >> can't play with guns. i had to tell him it was an accident. he said my heart hurts for him. >> police are not releasing the victim's name because he is a juvenile.
detectives are investigating. if you have information, you are asked to contact chester police. trish hartman, channel6 "action news." >> sarah? >> trish, thank you. >> meantime police have made an arrest in another shooting in chester yesterday that left a man dead. this man shot a 23-year-old yesterday multiple times killing him just before 5:00 p.m. at mom as and tur relle streets. >> police in montgomery county are investigating a homicide in hatfield township. it happened last night on east orville road. officers were called to the home for a report of a shooting. there they found a 31-year-old man dead. investigators say the shooting was the result of a disturbance. the man that shot him remained on scene. no word if charges have been
filed. >> new information about the fire that claimed the lives of a montgomery county couple that lived to be almost a hundred years old. we know that the blaze was caused by an electrical problem in the home. bob brooks is on the scene. >> by the time firefighters got there, it was too late. the roop collapsed and they couldn't make it out. they were a husband and wife, roy and helen finestone, 98 years old. >> the call came in at 4:45 this morning. fire detectors were inside the home but not sure if they were functional. >> please check your detectors to be sure they are operational t. >> a neighbor says it didn't take long before the flames started shooting out of the
home. >> you could seal the intensity, the fire on the tree in terms of reflection. it was intense. >> fire officials say the roof collapsed and the couple were trapped inside. >> their children said they had a mobility issue but are not sure how that affected their chances getting out. >> according to their children roy was a world war ii veteran in the navy sent to the south pacific. when he came back home he became an accountant and cpa, opening his own practice. their mother helped her husband and cared for them. she made a home cooked meal everynight. >> the couple that passed away, 98-year-old roy and helen fine stone. bob brooks, channel6, "action news." >> philadelphia police are searching for the driver who struck and killed a man on the
schuylkill expressway last night. it happened on the montgomery exit lane. the victim was sean patrick grazer. he was pronounced dead at the scene. police are looking for a dark colored nissan with damage to the front passenger side. if you have information contact police. >> the people of buck's county continue to show their support for the families of the four young men found on a far in sudbury township. the event was organized by ismael rivera a concerned father along with the elks lodge. all of the money raised will be split evenly among the victim's families. >> it's not uncommon to need tissues for a wedding, but for the next story you may need a box. a military couple tied the knot

found inside a tractor trailer in san antonio. as many as a hundred people were stuffed inside. one person was arrested. kenneth is in texas with more on this disturbing case of trafficking. >> what happened in this big rig at wal-mart is considered a crime. >> just after midnight sunday morning, a store employee called san antonio police saying a disoriented man approached him asking for water. >> police arrived and found dozens of people inside the tractor trailer, including children. >> everyone was removed. >> 30 survivors were hot to the touch showing signs of heat stroke and dee hydration. it became a race against time. >> we utilized seven area hospitals to transport the
