"action news" continues. hello again rick will be along later tonight. here are stories we are following for you at 12:30. a corruption probe into allentown city hall and includes the indictment of the city's mayor. we are live with the very latest. and one side off west philadelphia home comes crashing down with two people inside. and blows to the head is doing more damage in football than we knew before. and we'll soon learn what is behind the indictment of ed pawlowski. into the city halls of allentown in lehigh county and reading in berks county as well. john rawlins is live in center city where there is a news conference set to begin at 1:30. >> sara, a lot of indictments one is vaughn spencer the mayor of reading involved in a pay to

play scheme in that city and similar charges against the mayor of allentown ed pawlowski. it's alleged he was at the center of a scheme that demanded cash from vendors and would be vendors. if you wanted something done you needed to pay up to city hall and much was used by pawlowski in a run for governor back in 2013. mayor ed pawlowski an engaging politician who will tell you how he turned around allentown. >> crime is down and taxes are down. >> and the fed is about to allege another side, corruption. taking kickbacks for official favors. since the fbi raid of allentown city hall two years ago a string of confidants have pleaded

guilty. and a solicitor admitting to fraud for a contract. and last year his political consultant mike fleck plead guilty to extortion. and they are not about to abandon the 50-year-old mayor running for a fourth term. >> are you presumed innocent until proven guilty. >> well, as of last night pawlowski was signalling indicted or not he was not going to step down or resign and tough it out and stay in office and continue his re-election bid. while we'll have the announcement today by the feds in an hour's time, as far as the indictment is concerned. mr. pawlowski scheduled a news conference to answer charges and talk to reporters. john rawlins, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. well, neighbors said it

sounded like an earthquake when part of a home in philadelphia came crashing down today and there were two people inside of the house at the time of the collapse. it happened at 4:45 on the south block of ruby street. firefighters helped to rescue a couple inside. the woman heard creaking and came to the stairs and the man was lying on the sofa and the cat started to act strangely. miraculously neither was seriously hurt. >> we heard the scream and there was a lady dangling from the second floor. >> a mural on the outside wall of that home is now destroyed it was created address part of the mural arts program, i want to call you names. part of a project of 50 murals there in west philadelphia. turning to the accuweather forecast. it's the pick of the week cooler and less humid and a great day to be outdoors, lets look live

it's rare you see the flood warning the day after the last heavy rain and the runoff is rising and you want to be careful of flooded roads in the area of cumberland and salem counties, 74 is your current temperature in philadelphia, and 71 in allentown un73 in wilmington and 74 in cape may. and best of all the dew points are low. 61 in philadelphia, that is just barely above where we begin to consider things humid. and a little higher in reading and wilmington and down toward millville and into dover the big blotch of darker green that is oppressive humidity and not bad and a big improvement over where we have been a lot in the recent past. 4:00, 80 is the high we expect in the afternoon and 78 by 6:00. and 6:00, 74 by 8:00 and most of you stay dry and a nice afternoon in general. when we step inside things

replace it. >> a new study suggests that athletes that play football are more likely to suffer from brain disease than previously thought. the brain disease. cte is a condition caused by repeated blows to the head and could lead to memory loss, dementia and even suicide. >> reporter: 111 nfl brains scanned and 110 with brain disease. >> very, very disturbing. coming out of an unprecedented new study ringing alarm bells for someone that played or has a child playing football. >> the american medical association studied the brains of two deceased football players from all levels, that showed signs of cte when they were alive. 87% have the disease. among 40 players all but one had

cte. it's more common than anticipated and it comes seven months after the nfl finalized the $1 billion class action lawsuit from former players that say they suffered traumatic brain injuries during their career. they are working to change culture instituting new tackling techniques and rules to make the game safer. >> going not just to make football safer but all sports safer. >> cte can only be diagnosed after death. some former players question if they want to know the extent of the damage. >> if you have while they are living a test that could do that. >> i wouldn't want to know. the set of players tested is far from a random sample. even though every brain is donated by someone with signs of cte but the numbers are significant. the childrens hospital of

philadelphia is recognized for its efforts to create a green space and reduce pollution in philadelphia. they honored the hospital's burger center with the storm pioneer award. it features a rooftop garden where opinion patients and families with escape from the every day living at the hospital. and an investigation is underway a fisherman dragging a hooked shark off their boat and beyonce's wax figure unveiled and the fans unhappy.

evening and phillies play and it's similar numbers. 75 for the start and 71 in the finish, lets get three tonight. and tomorrow a bit of a change and a warm front through the region that gets us up to 86 for the high and humidity gradually builds. and we'll wind up with showers at night and maybe some thunderstorms, in fact thursday night in through friday there is a chance for scattered strong gusty storms that could produce scattered wind gusts and hail and an isolated chance for storms in the yellow zone. and that is something to keep in mind through friday it will be strong. really flightful overall and late day and especially nighttime storm and 86 is the humid high. could be strong. and the accuweather alert for
