>> good morning everyone, 4:30 a.m., thursday, august 10. tam is off, jeanette reyes joins us, here's what we're following on "action news" this morning. >> a fire at a scrap yard in bucks county has kept firefighters busy for much of the night. >> a rough night for a family in camden, a fire in one house leads to problems for the neighbors. >> what popular donut maker crispy cream is doing for a science phenomena.
>> david murphy is off, karen rogers is here and matt pellman has traffic. it is a red alert today. >> reporter: it's because we're wearing red. we have wall-to-wall sunshine and clouds and sun, and we're dry. not as cool as yesterday morning when we were in the 40s in the poconos. 60 in allentown, 61 in reading. in the city, 69. 60 degrees at atlantic city airport. 64 in dover, delaware. you can see by this we're not talking about wall-to-wall sunshine, but we're dry, we have sunshine, high clouds mixing with it. 7:00 a.m., 66. lunchtime, 82. 3:00 p.m., 83. 5:00 p.m., 82 degrees, 7:00 p.m., 80 degrees coming down from the high of 85.
temperature-wise similar to yesterday. we're expecting clouds in the picture. the other change the dewpoints are up a notch between 60 and 65. it is slightly humid. you will feel an uptick in the you humidity. overall the weather is nice before the weather goes downhill on friday. >> reporter: i like what you did yesterday, you get points for yesterday. the crews picked up their cones on the westbound of the blue route. probably another half-hour on the vine street expressway, between 76 the schuylkill expressway and broad street for the overnight construction that we see so many nights, but they should be out of here by 5:00 a.m. there went a car on the westbound side. overall still blocked in both directions along the vine. meanwhile, on the big picture, looking good, speeds are not bad
at all on 76, the boulevard. watch out for southbound paving work that's going on overnight in the outer drives. i-95 southbound side in chester, delaware county we had the two right lanes blocked on the southbound side between 420 and curlin street. i-95 in delaware, northbound side by the service area three left lanes out of commission there. that will wrap in the next hour. crews in bucks county battled a massive scrap yard fire all night long and just brought it under control. katherine scott is live at the scene in morrisville to explain the unusual way firefighters battled the flames. >> reporter: that's right, this was a stubborn fire and crews were here throughout the night. they are still here right now. the fire is under control as you mentioned. we're on the exterior of the scrap yard is down that way a little bit. let's go to the video where you
can see what was happening overnight. the fire broke out on the 300 block of steel road in morrisville simms metal management scrap recycling yard. the crews hauled in cranes and lifted the cars. crews used the klain's to hoist the metal into the air to extinguish them, that's how they were blasting water at them. firefighters from multiple fire companies responded they were spraying on the fire from every which way. this is a remote location, tanker units were brought in to help with the effort. the fire was brought under control this morning, but crews are on the scene check thissing for any remaining hot spots. so far no word on the cause of the fire. we're live in morrisville, katherine scott channel 6
"action news." >> thank you. new this morning, the fire marshal on the scene of a fast-moving house fire in camden this morning that broke out on the 3100 block of constitution road. pse&g is repairing downed power lines and small number of outages on the block. >> a family was torn a part by an accidental shooting in western pennsylvania. two young brothers were playing with a gun when it went off. a 10-year-old boy shot and killed his 6-year-old brother yesterday morning. the two boys were home alone while the mother was at work. police did not say how they got ahold of the weapon. >> a 27-year-old man was killed riding a motorcycle in mantua section last night. police say he lost control and crashed at 42nd street. he was rushed to penn peb hospital and pronounce -- penn
