6:00 a.m. on this monday, november 13. here's what we're following on "action news." give yourself extra time this morning we're tracking a wintery mix that could make the roads slippery in spots. >> we've seen traffic troubles out there. the action cam is live that has been cleared that had the boulevard closed resident. an investigation into the death of a penn state from fraty pledge, a prosecutor will address claims that surveillance video taken that night eject raced. >> eagles getting a new team member, details on whose joining them in the locker room.

>> let's go over to david murphy and karen rogers with weather and traffic. >> reporter: it's a miserable monday. >> reporter: yes we have rain in the poconos and sleet and making it down into the lehigh valley. generally speaking just wet roads coming through. you can see how the blue and white the mixed precipitation and light snow up in the poconos at this point. we are not so much looking at that down around our neck of the woods, but we have steadier cells popping throw parts of montgomery and bucks county highlighted in yellow. most of it is light to moderate rain, a little bit steadier. most of this will be with us through the morning commute. 39 degrees in philadelphia. we dropped 36 in reading. 37 in allentown. looks like we'll stay mild enough to avoid a freeze up on roads. there was an earlier concern about that. if you're in the northern areas

in particular and you see 3 # -- 32 on your dashboard they remember slow it down. 48 will be the high. the rain will have a tendency to taper off early this morning and later this afternoon, from west to east. then we're stuck with basically cloudy skies. all the way down to 40 at 7:00 p.m. if you're trying to get out of town, no major delays at the airport. there's fog in atlanta, maybe a problem there early on. even though it doesn't say it's raining in new york right now, it will be shortly. >> reporter: all right, dave we're watching for wet roads, this is city avenue at conshohocken state road the lights are on flash, be careful as the people are tearing through the intersection. you want to use caution with the lights flashing and the rain coming down. we have a problem on the boulevard northbound the action

cam is on the scene. a minute ago we saw a vehicle involved with the accident they put it on the tow truck and taking it away. looking live with the breaking news in olney. boulevard northbound and right near second street that's the vehicle that was involved now off to the side. it was blocking a lane northbound in the inner drive. looks like they are restricting traffic with the police officer blocking it off, we still see the glass all over the roadway, what happened the car smashed into utility pole that came down, now they still have all lanes blocked northbound in olney. there's the pole that's on the ground in the inner drive. you have to stick to the outer drive. we're seeing extra heavy traffic in the area. we're watching live on the scene, another tow truck pulling up right now. prepare for slow speeds on the arturo drive of the boulevard. poconos we're looking at wet roads. it's wet and getting heavy on the vine street expressway

heading toward the schuylkill expressway. this is a change in the last few minutes, traffic is jamming here, tam. >> let's talk about the conditions, "action news" reporter, katherine scott is continuing our coverage live in lansdale, you can tell it's really coming down out there, katherine. >> reporter: yeah, it's definitely picked up a little bit, it's been kind of on and off it's gotten lighter and heavier and now it's back to heavier. the driver we spoke to have not had any major complaints. there's deer and wet leaves. you want to be careful out there. let's look at the sidewalk temperatures here, it's been fluctuating it says it's 30, we had 35 a minute ago. we're cold temperatures here, but so far the drivers said they have not seen any ice. if you look at the intersection in lansdale where we are at valley forge road and sumneytown pike you can see the drivers are moving along just fine.

we've seen quite a few cars coming through here, slow down this morning. the temperatures have tumbledded the last few days, a mixed precipitation north and west, you could encounter slick spots on the roads. temperatures in the mid 30s. in some areas, the temperatures are hovering around 32 degrees. those are the areas you could see potential for freezing rain. in all that shouldn't amount to a whole lot. but you want to use caution as you head out the door this morning. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> authorities have released the name of the man who was killed in a fire fiery crash in chester county. a tractor-trailer collide with a vehicle and filmed on its side and exploded into flames 202 west goshen on saturday. adam swope was killed. he was well regarded and worked as a campaign manager in several

democratic races. a gunman got into an argument and fired his weapon across the street of the a-lounge and social club on macalster street. the first victim died at temple hospital. the other victim was shot twice in the neck. a security guard at the club was able to shoot the suspected gunman and wound him. he is a 27-year-old man. we'll learn about the death of a penn state university student they don't died at the fraternity party back in february. district will hold a press conference with the results of who deleted the surveillance video. timothy piazza died after gingering a danger amount of alcohol at a pledge ceremony falling down basement stairs and spent hours unconscious before help was called. 401k plans have been

see there's a changeover to snow and wet snow and sleet highlighted in blue, of course, in white around lake harm -- harmony and poconos. you will see that in berks county. as we go farther to the south there's an area of steadier precipitation moving toward norristown. if you're in doylestown, quakertown might get hit with a little bit of that. up in central and northern bucks county you'll get wetter. i'll leave you with the wide view, most areas south of dover and cape may see the light to moderate rain this will clear west to east later this morning and into early afternoon through the east of philadelphia. the morning rush looks wet the rest of the way. cloudy skies, the rain is falling in center city and elsewhere across the region, so

grab the rain gear on the way out. 39 degrees in philadelphia, so it's chilly. 38 in wilmington, 39 in trenton. 37 in allentown and 36 in reading. a little sleet could mix in here later this morning. we want you to be careful in case the they remember on the dash boar -- thermometer on the dashboard goes down to the freezing mark, we'll have wet roads in the area, be caution if you see that dropping. in terms of the rain between now and 9:00 a.m. it will push toward the east. later this afternoon it's away from us. areas east of trenton could take longer and beyond. we'll see late sun, this model is showing up north, but 6:00 p.m. nobody will be seeing it. allentown, cool, 38 degrees. at the shore, 50 degrees, still mostly cloudy with the rain tapering off and cool conditions. in philadelphia, mostly cloudy and cool with a high of 48 degrees today. winds out of the north not all

>> welcome back you're taking a live look out the boulevard. that white vehicle you see hooked up to the tow truck ran into the pole at 4:30 a.m., quite a crash busting up the hood of the car and being towed away on the wet roadways. the police vehicle ahead of it have lanes blocked off that's a pain for people needing the boulevard this morning. >> hopefully this is nearing n end. >> reporter: first they moved the vehicle to the side, we thought they were going to open it, but police are still blocking it. the boulevard inner lanes blocked at second street because of an accident. here's the downed pole i don't know if you can see that off to the side with the car smashed

into it. boulevard northbound at second street. they have that on a tow truck. looks like they will be getting ready to clear it momentarily, but they have not cleared it yet. you see how heavy the outer lanes are because the inner lanes are blocked with the car on the tow truck. looks like they are getting ready to move it, but they have not done it just yet. watching that closely right now. the action cam live on the scene with the breaking news. here we're looking live at the schuylkill expressway, westbound traffic heavy at city avenue you're jammed on the schuylkill expressway it is wet, it's just wet. it's not icy. icy in the poconos. wet on the schuylkill expressway and everybody is slowing down accordingly. we had a fatal accident in dell van, janee harteau -- hartford avenue is shut down this morning causing problems. route 100 at commerce drive,

traffic is moving, you can see how wet it is that's causing problems. we have an accident involving a pedestrian coming in from frankford we have more on that in a second. i want to show you storm tracker 6 live double scan we can see rain through most of the area right now, and again, you have to go up to the poconos up nears pottsville, not pottstown to get areas that are slick. it's just wet, but it's messing up the morning commute, matt. >> developing this morning a strong earthquake struck the border region between iraq and iran killing # hundred -- 300 people and injuring an estimated 1700 more. they expect the casualty toll to rise when search and rescue reach remote areas of iran. another earthquake shook costa rica in central america. shoppers went run as the quake hit san jose.

earlier this morning, there was a concern that there might be freezing rain in places like northern bucks and montco looks like temperatures are warm enough that we'll avoid that. keep an eye on your dashboard in case the goes down to 32 degrees. slow it down if that happens. between now and noon we'll see the rain taper off. 44 by noon. 3:00 p.m., 48 that's the high. all the way back to 40 by 7:00 p.m. for the kids on the bus stop it's going to be a wet one, so rain gear on the way out the door and decent coat or a couple of layers. 38 degrees on the bus stop in philadelphia. 35 in the cooler suburbs. karen, we are looking at a return of sunshine big time tomorrow. the temperatures start to come up, too, over the next couple of days him details in the seven day. >> reporter: temperatures are coming up, speeds are going down, we're live on i-95 near allegheny. look at the southbound traffic.

burlington county, new jersey, last night we had a fatal accident. they are still closing hartford at somerdale drive. it's wet and slow and miserable on the ben franklin bridge. westbound traffic jammed as you approach the up side into the center city area. >> a suspect in an armed robbery let his guard down by stopping for gas in montgomery where police took him into custody. jeanette reyes is live in lower moore land with the latest on the arrest. >> reporter: getaway van was towed away a couple of hours ago. take a live look behind me at the wawa two suspects were arrested. ultimately what did them in they needed to stop for gas. it started at a bar about a mile away from where i am in the somerton section of northeast philadelphia. there were about a dozen people there for a party, one of the

partygoers went to the basement. business to use the men's restroom when two men armed with guns attacked him. there was a violent struggle that left a bit of blood behind. they stole his wallet and cell phone anne keys and $1,100 in cash. as they left the business they pointed their guns at the patrons. one of the witnesses was brave enough to follow the men to their car. he got a description of the white van they were driving in. philadelphia police called lower moreland township police who ran into the men pumping gas at philmont and red lion. >> it was good cooperation between philadelphia and lower moreland to get the description to them that quickly and make the arrest. we were lucky that the getaway car needed gas. >> reporter: and police were

quickly able to retrieve the stolen items, the cash along with the victim's wallet and the weapons that were used in the robbery. all ten partygoers along with the victim positively identified the suspects. jeanette reyes channel 6 "action news." tam. >> thank you jennette. developing there's been a deadly collision in burlington county, new jersey that sent a car clear into the woods. the crash happened social -- somerdale and hartford road in delran. the accident killed the driver. a heartbreaking loss for a little league baseball team. fire at a concession stand means $50,000 loss. this happened at the stanton, little league complex yesterday morning. state fire officials are trying to figure out what caused the fire. coming up on 6:36 a.m., police in the philippines

makefield township. p-a american water haved off the water main break. the water department said water pressure will take a few hours to return to normal for all the customers who have been affected. >> david murphy joins us, up in the poconos is where you're watching the freezing rain. >> reporter: sleet, freezing rain and wet snow in the poconos. everybody to the south pretty much rain. storm tracker 6 live double scan shows us that. if we go in tighter to the northern areas you can see the changeover with the blues and the whites. sleet possible in the blue areas as you head north along the northeast extension of the pennsylvania turnpike, north of slatington. down in allentown, rain, i want to start this for you, it's basically coming up from the south and pushing off to the northeast. as we go farther to the south there's steadier activity

especially around jenkintown, doylestown, pennington, new hope about to get some of this. i'll lapse this for you, as well. a little bit of heavier rain popping through there. it's not going to be around all that longer. if you look longer we have areas of drying near wilmington and south and west of wilmington. gradually through the morning and up through the midday you'll see the rain push off to the north and east and vacate the region. cloudy skies on sky6 live hd at city hall. starting to put up the christmas lights in center city. not everything is covered just yet. it's a gradual process, folks you see it part way done right now. temperatures 38 degrees in philadelphia. it is on the cold side. so dress warmly even though there's not much of a wind out there, 5 miles per hour with the wind. future tracker 6 showing you between now and 9:00 we're getting pretty much close to ending with the rain over to the western suburbs and you can see

how a lot of what is still falling is highlighted in the lighter shades of green. we'll gradually improve and by noon, i would think most of the rain is pushing east of philadelphia, by 2:00, we may see holes in the clouds here and there. there's the possibility that some of us see late afternoon sunshine best chance looks like it would be north of philadelphia. in terms of temperatures it stays chilly today. 38 degrees by 8:00. 10:00 a.m., 41. 44 by noon. again, the rain is centered in the morning and gradually winding down to the midday period. 3:00 p.m., 48 degrees some of us seeing sun, and 41 at 6:00 p.m. 49 in reading, 46 in trenton. 48 around the central region over to toms river down the shore, 50 on the boardwalk. tomorrow high pressure rolls in from the west, the winds stay light. lots of sunshine re-emerges it's cool high of 51 degrees.

we're watching out for that this morning. >> it's a morning where we could have a slow go and accidents, let's go over to karen rogers. >> reporter: roads are wet, jams out there, no accidents on 422, but look at the traffic near trooper. you can see how everyone is jammed from oaks to 202. double than it normally would take you to travel westbound. traffic is moving but not too quickly, that's for sure. i want to take you over to the mayfair section, i think my battery is dead. we have an accident involving a pedestrian at frankford avenue at robins street. going into new jersey delran, burlington county. we still have the accident a fatal accident last night, but it brought down a pole, this downed pole is blocking hartford road at somerdale drive.

if you're in the area watch for that, as well. stick to bridgeboro road. vineland, cumberland county, an accident 55 northbound near route 47. they have pushed it off to the side. a lot of crews on the scene with this accident scene. one more look, a live look in new jersey, camping a backup on 42 northbound traffic is jamming at creek road, 17 minute ride from the ac expressway to 259. on the waze app an accident 276 eastbound in upper moreland township. you have to go up to the northwest to get an icy mix. they are getting snow and sleet mixing in the poconos and lake harmony and hazleton. near 209 you want to watch for that. alin allentown and quakertown it's just rain coming down there, but nonetheless causing problems for your morning commute. >> new, though, a man with a

knife stabbed two people at the mall of america. investigators say the 20-year-old suspect was trying to steal belongings from the victims inside a macy's dressing room in bloomington, minnesota. police look the suspect into the custody. both victims are expected to be okay. the store closed in response to this, but the rest of the mall stayed open. the first baptist church in texas held their first sunday worship since the shooting the week before. pastor who lost his daughter in the attack. delivered his emotional service. he called on mourners to pray in the face of evil. >> we have the ability to choose instead of darkness that that young man did that day, i say we choose light. >> the sanctuary where the man
