good afternoon, we begin with breaking news. police have captured the teenage murder suspect that youth detention center i michael huggins was arrested this morning in atlantic city. t18-yeaas o the run tt is live with facility in eg. more. >> reporter: that is right. they had searched residential areas and the woods here in bridge tonas in atlantic city where michael huggins was found this morning. lets go t chopper 6 hd over the scene not that long ago. you see some of the activity in the area where he was apprehended. it was on south carolina avenue. and there were unmarked police vehicle there's and this is where 18-year-old michael
huggins was apprehended this morning. we are waiting for more details on how it unfolded. 18-year-old accused murderer michael huggins is in custody in a search that moved from egg harbor to bridgeton and to atlantic city where he was captured at 10:00 a.m. u.s. marshals and the new jersey state police fugitive task force had a hand in this apprehension. he broke out of the youth detention center early wednesday morning with three other teenagers. authorities say they overpowered several guards and stole one of their personal vehicles. one guard was injured and is recovering. surveillance footage shows the stolen car sideswiping a jeep and ditching a car in a nearby neighborhood. and the others were captured wednesday morning more than 30 miles away in bridgeton and huggins remained on the run until this morning. he was charged in the murder of
lee. and the details of his capture has not yet been released and there is a press conference scheduled for this afternoon in mays landing, "action news" will be there and bring you all the latest developments. >> all right thank you. we are following breaking news following the two pennsylvania state troopers involved in a shootout in plainfield township. investigators decided that the two troopers were justified in firing their weapons and neither will face charges. this came from north hamilton district attorney after he reviewed video of last week's incident on route 33. he says that accused gunman daniel clary began shooting at seth kelly after they tried to arrest clary for a suspected dui. both troopers returned fire. in the minutes leading up to the shooting, clary resisted arreste
reached for the gun holster and after a struggle he ran back to his own car and got his own gun. >> he is able to pop out from the control of the troopers that were try to get him in a position to handcuff him. and would not listen to commands and reached for the gun and came out of firing at the police officers and the police officers had every right to use deadly force to defend themselves. after being treated for gunshot wounds, clary is held on attempted homicide charges and italized and is making progress. a septa bus ran over a bicyclist today i parkwood section of philadelphia. it happened on the intersection of mechanicsville and knights road. the driver was able to free himself and alert and talking to himself at the scene. it's unclear if anyone else was
unhurt. >> turning to accuweather the temperatures are milder for your thursday, but also windy out there as well. as we look live outside sky 6 hd showing you the view of the ben franklin bridge and parts of penn's landing lunch time. meteorologist, david murphy, has a che of the forecast as we inch closer weekend. >> sunshine out there now as we take a look at cloud cover on satellite. some areas to the north getting cloudy and a sprinkle and a couple of showers that popped up to the north, looking at stormtracker 6 live double scan areas around allentown getting rain and bethlehem and easton some will plow down in your direction and a brief cell. and west of hamburg coming out of pottsville there say steadier cell and if you get hit with this it comes down steady but won't last more than 5 maybe 10 minutes and then maybe past you. the lighter precipitation past
you and reading is getting some of that. and mainly in the northern areas. the temperature in philadelphia is all the way up to 59 degrees, 54 in allentown un53 in reading and 56 in wilmington and all of these numbers are milder than yesterday. 61 already in millville and 55 in cape may. as we go through the rest of the afternoon it stays mild. 59 degrees by 2:00 and by 4:00, 58 coming down from the 60 degree high and 41 by 10:00. the winds are going to pick up over the next couple of hours too. expect it to be blustery out there. in terms of additional rain it looks like this is only over the next couple of hours after 3:00 or so. most of this is falling apart and heading toward the west. when i step back a cool down for tomorrow and up and down weather for the weekend, those details in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. >> thank you. president trump is on capitol hill to rally republicans toward a tax reform

80-year-old man was found dead more than 12 hours ago and police said and investigators said they are looking at two possibles he may have taken a tragic fall or murdered. but they are leaning more toward the latter. >> i'm sick over it. a great man. >> neighbors linger over the home that belonged to 80-year-old robert girard and many are shocked as they sat in the same benches that the veteran sat in. >> there is no obvious sign of struggle and the house does not appear to be ransacked and no sign of forced entry. >> just before 9:00 last night police were called out to girard's home on the 2900 block of east lehigh avenue. his granddaughter walked in to find him laying in a pool of blood with a laceration to his forehead.
they are considering two possibilities that the elderly man took a fall or he was murdered. >> the body will be transported to the medical examiner's office and the body will receive a full autopsy and the medical examiner will be able to determine if the injury was caused by any foul play. >> in the early morning hours, please towed away the white van sitting directly in front of the home. they could not confirm. and complainted about it to officials, about a man appearing to be living there but nothing was done. >> complaints from all over the neighborhood. we connected the police multiple times. girard's grandson was too distraught to talk on camera and was told to move his van and said there was blood in the bedroom. and girard's grandson too distraught to speak on camera
says the 80-year-old confronted the man and told him he needed to move his man. and saw the crime scene and said blood in the bedroom and a trail that led down to the kitchen. he believes the death was no accident. >> and police were looking to retrieve some surveillance camera footage from several of the residences here. and no word if they saw anything that was suspicious. channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. we are getting our first look at the sole survivor of a plane crash, the 3-year-old girl is the only one that made it out alive when a small plane went down in russia. the six people on board were killed. and the doctors moved the toddler to a different hospital and is being treated for broken bones but is expected to recover. the trial of bob mendez told the judge it remains deadlocked.
mendez's attorney asked the judge to declare a mistrial. and the prosecution wants the jury to have more time to deliberate. they told the judge on monday they were deadlocks and were told to kept going. mendez is accused of accepting gifts from a florida doctor for his political influence. a major road in delaware county was closed for the morning rush after a tractor trailer hit an overpass and the big rig ran into the overpass in radnor township at success this morning and kept driving the cab for three miles and then the cab caught on fire at air dale road. and king of prussia was closed tore several hours. children in bucks county, paid tribute to local veterans with a special program. ♪ ♪ the choir at st. catherines

and hamburg, they are starting to pick up the stuff and most cases they are light and you see a little yellow and that takes some moments to pop through, and allentown getting rid of one shower toward milton and easton escaping a shower and one more line coming in. we may be in and out of something like this in the northern suburbs for a few hours before we finally dry out for good. taking a look outside as we check out center city. south philadelphia, the platt bridge, you see that yes there are clouds, as you glance off to the north where the showers are located and blue skies above and generally speaking we are expecting a mix of sun and clouds and maybe full sunshine before the end of the day as we get late into the afternoon. temperature 59 degrees and mild and comfortable and the winds are starting to pick up west at 18 miles per hour. and at times over the next several hours, we may see gusts up to 30 to even 40 miles per hour. and it will get more and more
blustery. 54 in allentown and 53 in reading. and up to 61 in millville and 55 degrees in cape may. future tracker 6 shows you that between now and up to 2:00 or 3:00 a couple of the sprinkles or showers are passing through and the possible that a couple of them could make it to the i 95 corridor and the best chance is the farther north you go through the region and late in the afternoon the showers are gone and we wind up with late day sunshine and clearing during the evening hours. it's windy and the sustain said winds build from now until 2:00. hold on to your hats this afternoon. in the lehigh valley a mix of clouds and sun with the spotty shower and you see some of that now, and 56 is the high in places like allentown and easton and clouds and sun at the shore getting up to 54 or so. calling it 60 and not much difference from the high and where we are right now and a
spotty shower can't be ruled out on future tracker 6 and as we go through the next several hours with the blustery feel and overnight tonight clear and brisk and colder. i suppose some out lying suburbs could get to the freezing mark and tomorrow we bounce back from 50 tomorrow afternoon and still on the breezy side. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast today's high is a balmy almost 60 degrees, definitely above average getting windy so keep the coat handy and tomorrow windy and chillier with a high of 50 degrees, saturday clouding up and 57 is the high and eventually we see rain arriving and some models want it to arrive in the afternoon. trending in the evening and staying dry for the noon game at temple field. that will probably change. and the philadelphia marathon on sunday morning looks okay 48 degrees at dawn and only 50 for a high.
