as the day goes on. here's the temperatures it's cold to start out. 15 degrees in trenton. 18 in philadelphia. 18 in reading, 16 in wilmington, 18 in millville. 18 degrees in cape may. the windchills even though the winds are not super strong enough to get the windchills making it feel like the sing digits, bundle up for a five degree windchill in philadelphia. 4 in trenton. 1 in allentown, 5 in wilmington and 5 in millville. as we go through the day, it's going to be a chilly one. not as cold as yesterday, yesterday's high, 27. it felt worst with the strong blustery winds. 31 by 1:00 p.m. i'm expecting a high of 32 at 3:00 p.m. you can see how the clouds get thicker as we go through the day. the windchills will be a factor for those of you doing outdoor volunteer activities. you want to bundle up. it will feel like the teens at
noon, there are the 8 to 16-mile an hour. we're track a clipper system coming at us tomorrow with a little bit of light snow not heavy accumulations, but being in traffic can be problematic, that looks like it comes in tomorrow afternoon, i'll have the details coming up. >> reporter: a little bit is sometimes worse if you have a nice day it's a dry day. looking at the schuylkill expressway, no problems on the schuylkill expressway. blue route, schuylkill expressway, i-95 in good shape of we have a huge accident involving an overturned vehicle on the schuylkill expressway in the overnight hours near montgomery drive, everything is cleared out, all lanes open on the highways, looking good, we have a problem in west chester from an earlier water main break doing emergency road repairs. high street is being blocked with lane restrictions near east biddle street. i-95 no problems here,
southbound traffic heading toward center city, moving nicely so far, tam. >> dr. martin luther king junior is famous for manyization including this one, life's most persistent and urgent question is what are you doing for others. many are honoring his legacy putting others in need first. jeanette reyes is live at the girard college where others are out already on this cold morning. it's beautiful to see. >> reporter: martin luther king day is about action not only remembering him, but doing things he would have done and celebrated. this is the setup in the main room at girard college. we see volunteers arriving at this early hour, 5:30 a.m., 150,000 people are expected to serve in almost 2,000 projects. some of the activities include
workshops, trainings and job opportunity fairs and king concert. we'll see governor wolf and mayor kenny and others. they will pack food to be distributed to hundreds of area nonprofit organizations. all this highlights the poor people's campaign that was launched by dr. king 50 years ago today. take a listen to what todd burnstein had to say about the event. >> dr. king was a man of action and enemy of apathy taking on the most pressing social challenges of the day. on this day, 50 years after his death, we are taking concerns of the community 150,000 strong turning those concerns into
citizen action. >> reporter: and coming back out live to us, you can see the murals here those are made by some of the students in fact the entire room is adorned with murals painted over the past 20 years. todd burnstein was talking about the importance of making sure that the expect generation knows about dr. king. cecil b. moore freedom fighters who demonstratessed in the 1960s along with dr. king to did he -- desegregate girard cleblg -- college, the younger generation will be hearing that. we'll have full report on that coming up today. jeanette reyes channel 6 "action news." >> so inspiring. flames destroyed a tire store in west philadelphia at
50th and street and haverford avenue. the business was gutted. there were no reports of injuries. >> flames could be seen for miles as an abandoned row home burned in north philadelphia last night. fire and smoke bellowed from the roof on the 1400 block of north 7th street. fortunately nobody bass injured, there is no word on what started the fire. philadelphia water crews continue to repair water main breaks across the city. this water main break buckled the 2500 block of montrose street in south philadelphia. residents say it started as a small bubble of water and now it's a steady stream. >> gradually as this has come on it's washed away everything that everything is sunken in. the cars will come down here and fall in. >> the water department was out overnight to shut off the water. >> 5:36 a.m., president trump face repeated questions over the
weekend being asked are you a racist. the president has been criticized for using slurs against haiti and african nations. last night as his resort he had this to say. >> i'm not a racist. >> the comment was reportedly made during an immigration meeting last week, some senators confirm the use of a slur while others deny it. the fallout derailed the effort of immigration with the president blaming the democrats. >> well, the eagles are one win away from getting to the super bowl. tickets for sunday's nfc championship game against the minnesota vikings right in philadelphia, this sunday at the linc go on sale tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. the action cam stopped by chickee and pete's in south philadelphia, fans awaiting the outcome of the vikings game when minnesota edged out the saints

hoping this breaks up a little bit, eventually the clouds increase, some of them coming in off the ocean we're watching the cloud cover coming in from the west with the clipper system tomorrow. 19 degrees by 8:00 a.m. 24 by 10:00 a.m. 29 by noon, 32 is the high by 3:00 p.m. it's cold this afternoon, but not as breezy and cold as yesterday when we had a high of 27. high temperatures across the region chilly up in allentown and reading staying in the upper 20s today. freezing mark in trenton and wilmington. 32 in wilmington, 34 the high in millville. 33 in cape may. here's the clipper system bringing snow to us late tomorrow and into tomorrow night. looks like it's a quick hit and won't produce a whole lot of snow which is tip i canal with these clipper systems. the main snow arriving after 2:00 p.m., and ending after midnight. a coating to two inches is what we're expecting. some models suggesting wednesday
