"action news" at 12:30 continues with rick williams, sara bloomquist and meteorologist, david murphy. hello again we begin at 4:30 now with the accuweather alert. we are tracking snow moving into the region late tonight and it will affect tomorrow morning's commute and the ride to school. we are under a winter weather advisory and some fell in our area earlier today. this is the scene in west goshen and chester county as light snow was col can down. it causes a few slick spots on the road for the morning

commute. let check out the scene showing you the ben franklin bridge and penn's landing and blue skies and round two of the snow won't get here until the evening and overnight. shouldn't be a heavy accumulated affair and could cause problems for the commute tomorrow morning. david murphy is outside on the terrace with the latest from accuweather. >> it's the issue. not a lot of snow but it looks to be early in the rush hour and tapering off to the end of the rush, this is already in effect in allentown and reading and back through lancaster counties, the northern portion of bucks and montgomery county is officially added at 4:00 this afternoon. and during the afternoon and evening hours it's not out of the question we get mixed precipitation and after dark maybe some light snow but looking like most of the bulk of what we are seeing will arrive later after midnight and charge

through the region and through the morning rush, right now you can see the snow to the west of us and it extends off and on to pittsburgh and ahead of it breaks in the clouds and for now we are enjoying sunshine, stormtracker 6 live double scan shows you to the north and west of reading there is some snow and mostly light and some of this may break to the east and it's blocked in place to the north and west of us. and you may see something this afternoon in the northern and western areas, right now outside of the region for the most part. 48 in philadelphia above freezing and closer to freezing in allentown and reading and lancaster. we expect the numbers to bounce up. right now you are below freezing and if anything were to pop up it could cause a slick spot. 42 degrees around average and then it drops in the overnight hours as the snow moves in and the commute we expect to be below freezing and slick. future tracker 6 showing you at

government funding runs out. a 17-year-old girl called police after escaping from her home in california where she says her and her 12 brothers and sisters were locked up for years. the police went and found childrens shackled to their beds with chains and padlocks in foul smelling surroundings. >> inside of this middle class home in california. a dark secret. >> this is absolutely sickening. >> they found 13 siblings living in dungeon like conditions chained to their beds with padlocks. >> they all looked skinny not athletic skinny. >> seven of the children were adults as old as 29, but they were so badly malnourished they looked like kids. >> they were pale skinned like

they never saw the sun. >> they were discovered on sunday after one of the children a 17-year-old girl escaped with a cell phone and called 911. and police swarmed the house and arrested their parents, charged with torture and child endangerment and each is now held on $9 million bail. >> they were probably disciplined and meticulous about keeping the children captive. they spoke with david's parents who said he had so many children because god called them to. >> and they dressed them in identical outfits and haircuts and pictures of them in disney lan and las vegas but they have only seen them recently and and many had to idea that 13 live in the house. abc news new york.

>> a man has died after being shot multiple times in north philadelphia. the gun fire rang out before 1:00 this morning along the 800 block of north 12th street. and when police arrived they found a man in the road unresponsive and they rushed him to the hospital where he underwent surgery and did not survive. witnesses saw a dark colored car speeding from the scene. a man was killed in southwest philadelphia. the victim was found shot in the neck and back. at this hour police do not have anyone in custody. surveillance video captured the moment that a car smashed into a north yearsy beauty salon as a customer was walking out and the 60-year-old woman was pinned between the car and building in fairfield. she is in stable condition and it appears that the 81-year-old driver hit the gas instead of the brake. new video shows the close

this afternoon. well, it's david murphy's job to tell us when to see the snow and how much to expect. >> it's a funky weak system and having a hard time taking over the dry air in place. as we look at stormtracke live double scan, we did have some snow this morning. up in the northern and western areas where most of it parked we got a few light snow showers in philadelphia and we see the snow right now and down into berks county and lancaster is where most of it was this morning, this is where it is off to the north and with west and stuck if place and not out of the question places like berks county and the lehigh valley. and picking up some of this it's low impact. i would look for later tonight and overnight to be the bigger issue in most of our northern and western suburbs. as we look outside. sky 6 hd in philadelphia the temperature product rating a bit and sunshine is mixing with clouds and we are kind of in a tranquil pattern now as we go

into the night and overnight and the snow starts to built in here now. 38 is your current temperature. if it was snowing now wet snow and melting on the ground but nothing to worry about yet. and winds are calm. temperature as above freezing in wilmington and philadelphia. and 45 in millville and 43 in cape may. and when this snow coming down overnight it stars out as rain in and around these areas until a change over and up in reading 32 and same in lancaster and 30 in allentown, if something manages to pop in and it could prime to be slick. in terms of the snow the rest of the way. it looks like between now and 7:00, it gets more pronounced and comes down to allentown and reading and this is a new model run and possible that late this afternoon and this evening you sigh something in the far northern and western areas, by 11:00 it's probably still having a hard time pushing south at least the main body of it. as we go into the overnight

hours until 4:00 in the morning we'll be on the air early for you, it looks like the northern and western suburbs are seeing this and during the morning commute it filters down to philadelphia. and 7:30 in model run has a broken pattern of snow. and this clears out quickly once it comes through. the timing this evening mainly dry and something happening north and west but it's mainly overnight the snow is more pronounced and moves down through the i-95 corridor and the morning is snowy with mixing at the shore. the late model runs are easing back from philadelphia to i-95. i have new models all under an inch, and the euro gets updated tonight is at 2.5 inches. you get up to the norm and west. this is the lehigh valley call, even the recent models like the 2 to 4 inch range and the snow map now, i'll go 2 to 5 in the

here is something you don't see every day. a wallaby trying to hop away from police. it was spotted on the sydney harbor bridge this morning. officers finally caught up with the wallaby and brought it to a nearby zoo. the veterinarian says the animal was stressed out and they said sedated it. a little bit of snow overnight for now we look at a chilly afternoon in the northern and western suburbs 35 in kutztown and 35 in reading. and on the chilly side and mostly cloudy and light winds in philadelphia and 42 is your high
