parkway. out to the west you see a little bit of rain beginning to form, maybe mixing southwest of wilmington and out by lancaster it's hard to see but there is a little bit of gray showing up to the west of lancaster and reading as well. that's going to be the second round that comes in probably around 7, 8 o'clock this morning in those northern and western areas. temperatures fortunately across most of the region are a little above freezing. 34 in philadelphia. we did get a little bit that of rain and wet snow earlier. 35 in wilmington. 32 the freezing mark in allentown and 33 in reading, though and the farther north and west you go as that second round of snow comes in later this morning, the better chance you have of seeing slippery road conditions so keep your eyes out up there for that temperature on your dashboard thermometer and especially in upper elevations, slippery conditions out there this morning. later on today, though, we're expecting just about everybody to get above freezing and we should have less of a problem. so, overall what to expect. periods of light snow today, a coating to 2-inches is roughly what we're looking for across the region. roads mainly wet but slippery north and west this morning that would be possible. here's where the numbers go.
going to stay on the cold side. a-37 around lunchtime and 35 by 1 o'clock and the freezing mark by about 7 o'clock. karen it it also gets windy this afternoon. i could see wind chill in the 20's for a good portion of the afternoon hours. >> all right, dave. you showed us on the radar how the snow showers are hugging the coastline. we're live in cape may county and you can see that light snow falling right here on the garden state parkway and this is the parkway at the cape may toll plaza. the parkway itself mostly just wet here so we haven't seen too many problems but north of here speeds reduced to 45 miles per hour because of salting going on right now. mass transit patco was a mess yesterday with that accident at ferry avenue that brought down an electrical pole and it wasn't running for awhile. today it's still running on a modified schedule until about 2 o'clock they think so that could cause delays with the patco high speedline. trenton a 10 minute delay with a train up there and a new accident coming in to us, watch for this in douglassville berks county. seeing speeds of only 13 miles
an hour. we're hearing here on 422 eastbound near 662 there were two separate accidents. one of them we're hearing was a multi-vehicle accident with someone trapped inside. a horrible accident scene in berks county on 422 eastbound. fire police on hand directing traffic at the scene, matt and tam. >> thank you, karen. well, it was a time to let loose before the two super bowl contenders got down to business. >> the eagles and patriots met face to face in saint paul for media night fielding any and all sorts of questions. >> the birds look like rock stars entering the xcel energy center last night. their team soaked up the atmosphere and had a little bit of fun. the action cam caught jay ajayi jamming to michael jackson over the loudspeaker. ducis rodgers has the recap from minnesota. >> reporter: good morning from minnesota. we are standing outside the xcel energy center where last night the super bowl had its opening night formerly known as media day. that's where the players and coaches got to see the craziness of over 4,000 journalists asking the most

view you can see how the snow is affecting the garden state parkway and we might be on our way to a couple of inches or more right in those areas where you see the brighter shade of white. in ocean county, burlington county and maybe down toward the southern and northeastern tip i should say of atlantic county and earlier some of this did actually pop through philadelphia so your roads here are wet. the good news is most of the area is above freezing right now. now, there is that second little band of precipitation beginning to show up on the radar. you see that gray out to the west of reading and now pushing in toward lancaster and coatesville. this is going to build and be another batch of snow that comes in from the west and i do have a concern that the northern and western suburbs, particularly in the upper elevations up here, higher on hill tops and what have you could freeze up on the roads for at least a time this morning before temperatures rise later. stepping outside we have cloudy skies across the region it is damp even where it isn't actively precipitating right now so a little bit of extra caution on the road is a good
idea. your temperature in philadelphia is 34 degrees. roads around the city and up and down i-95 probably just wet. winds out of the east-northeast at 7 miles per hour. your wind chill 28. winds will be a bit of a factor as we go later through the day especially. 34 currently in philadelphia. 33 in millville. temperatures close to freezing where it's snowing so be cautious down here around beach haven down to the airport in a.c. and coastal communities but hopefully you are looking at mainly just wet roads. my concern again is up here in allentown, reading, lancaster, the northern and western areas especially as you go up in elevation as that second band comes in from the west later today that could wind up being an issue with slick road conditions especially this morning. let's take a look. looks like by about 8 o'clock some of you out in the north and west are beginning to get this, maybe even delaware county and chester county by then. and then up until noon we see some off and on snow shower activity. it looks like most of this is down off the coast by about dinnertime or so. we are expecting about a coating to an inch in and around philadelphia, some spots could go a little
higher. one to two in general where you're getting that coastal storm this morning and maybe a little higher there as well in some spots. it looks like a general one to two in the northern and western suburbs and again during the morning hours slippery travel in those areas. overall temperatures are going to rise rather nicely, though. in philadelphia, 34 by 8 o'clock, 35 by 10 o'clock, 36 by noon, a high of 37 by about 1 o'clock and then down to 33 by 6 o'clock. when i say rising nicely i don't mean that it's going to be mild today. it will be cold but we are going to be above freezing for most of the day and your high temperatures across the region look above freezing later this afternoon. 37 in allentown, 38 in reading, 37 in philadelphia and 38 in millville. heading to the super bowl this week? well, here's the latest forecast. little bit of snow today out in minneapolis, 28 degrees and then 33 on wednesday. really the temperatures crash as you get closer to the weekend. six for a high on thursday. 17 friday. saturday when many eagles fans who are going are probably going to be out there, it's going to be snowing a little bit in minneapolis, 7 degrees there and then for super bowl sunday the latest call, this
could change of course, it already has quite a bit over the last week and a half, but 6 degrees under the sun is what it looks like now for tailgaters. oh, my, you're going to have fun anyway now. light snow around today off and on mainly wet roads look out in the north and west suburbs for slippery spots and a high of 37. bright tomorrow 35. mostly cloudy on thursday, 48 degrees with some rain at night and then the next morning commute we're watching is friday. some models have rain mixing with some snow at times and that could make for a sloppy friday morning commute we'll keep our eyes on it. after that, though, we dry out. we get sun in the afternoon, a high of just 33. 31 saturday. for super bowl sunday here 41, cloudy skies for the most part and there could be a passing rain or snow shower. it doesn't look like a super big deal. a little bit of a concern that if temperatures drop at night and there's still some of that around you might want to slow it down on the roads. >> always good advice. thank you. it is 5:42. heads up. texting while walking could cost you in certain places. find out where a new jersey lawmaker wants to add a ban and some fines. >> plus, coming up scary
moments when 150 skiers get stuck on a broken chair lift at a ski resort. karen. >> oh, that's like my greatest fear. looking outside live on the schuylkill, the vine street expressway just a little damp here and the overnight construction has cleared so moving a lot better. we'll check out exton chester county and take you to berks county with a nasty accident there when we come back. >> ♪

it seems like this is going to be more of a nuisance than anything else. we're above freezing right now so i don't think any of this is going to stick, however as dave has been mentioning all morning we could see some slick spots come 7, 8 o'clock this morning. we'll keep an eye out on the roads today right now but in the meantime if you are heading out around that time during that early morning commute make sure you take it easy. reporting live in king of prussia jeanette reyes channel6 "action news." >> unfortunately for jeanette no snow angels this morning. >> she can hope, right. >> it's really light falling out there, some light snowfall and for the most part the roads have been wet, or some spots where temperatures are at or below freezing i'll show that you in a minute. this is route hundred at commerce drive. we're dry. people moving just fine right now. the snow showers haven't really hit there just yet. in douglassville in berks county we've got a big problem here. two separate accidents out here in berks county on 422. just had a live update now.
