by a police officer. emotions are running high across the country. demonstrators blocking traffic in atlanta and memphis. over the weekend, more than 100 arrests in minnesota after the death of philando castile. one st. paul officer had a broken vertebrae after a concrete block was dropped on his head. investigators now say the lone gunman, micah johnson may have had bigger plans. >> the suspect had been practicing explosive detonations and the materials was such that there was large enough to have devastating effects throughout our city. >> reporter: chief david brown also revealing a chilling mystery. johnson scrawled the letters "rb" in his own blood on the walls of the parking garage investigators are now digging through johnson's laptop and journal a

significance of those letters. he taunted negotiators. >> this was a person well-prepared and thinking ahead and talking about shoot and move tactics. >> a lawyer who said he represented johnson said the army prematurely kicked johnson out of afghanistan after he was accused of sexual ahasment by a female soldier and the accuser requested that johnson get mental health. he took basic self defense classes. >> we didn't interact a lot with him and he came in and did his things and left. >> right now investigators are combing through johnson's digital trail for clues. today they hope to re-open several of the city blocks that have been closed since the shooting. >> gabe

thank you. and we are hearing about the mother that was at the protest march with her four sons when the violence erupted. addition officers that were killed, nine other people were shot and injured including two civilians. one of them is now sharing her family's harrowing emotional story of shot in the leg, right now it's her heart that is hurting. she took four sons to the rally in downtown dallas when gunfire erupted, hitting an officer in front of their eyes. >> as he was going down, he said he has a gun, run. >> moments later taylor felt a bullet pierce her leg. she covered her son, andrew, as officers protected her. >> and that officer jumped on top of me and covered me and my

some passengers were starting to feel sick. emergency crews say 12 passengers had elevated levels of carbon monoxide in their bodies. they all recovered after getting fresh air but it's still unclear where that carbon monoxide may have come from. for now, the plane has been taken out of service. now to that health scare for joe perry. the 65 year old hospitalized after staggering off stage at a concert last night. scary moments on stage for legendary aerosmith guitarist joe perry. shortly after the show started, a tired looking perry sits down near the drum set still playing his guitar. moments later he stands, suddenly staggering offstage behind a large speaker where

today, especially through the upper midwest and northern plains. some of the storms could be very strong. we are seeing heavy rain in fargo. we have a severe thunderstorm warning -- watch rather in effect for right now but later on this afternoon those are the storms we will keep an eye out for because they have potential of isolated tornadoes, and we could see very large hail in western iowa, and that's the biggest threat the further south you go. and tomorrow the risk spreads further to the east including wisconsin and illinois and stretches across eastern iowa, and same threats, damaging winds and large hail and you can't rule out ansolated tornado and that's tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow evening, too. your local forecast is coming up in just 30 seconds.
