no one was hurt. today the man accused of killing his estranged wife in ash burn will be sentenced. a a judge rejected a motion to set aside a guilty verdict. a jury recommended a a life sentence of 16 years. back in 2014 police say he broke into his wife's home and suffocated her. he staged the crime to look like a suicide. six years after two women were raped at today their attacker will be sentenced. this video shows him in the blue and white beanie looking for potential victims. this was on january 2010. he locked one of the victims inside of a restroom and raped her e repeatedly. he was previously sentenced to 90 years in prison after pleading guilty in 2010. he appealed and after a new trial this past october, he's

murdered 16-year-old girl from d.c. she was shot and killed on i street in southeast the day after thanksgiving. her family raised almost $10,000 to pay for the funeral. police say evans was caught on video firing a gun. around the time she was killed. so far he's only been charged with unlawful possession of a gun. national icon john glenn being remembered. he passed away in his home state of ohio at the age of 95. the former astronaut cemented his place in history when he became the first american to orbit the earth. he also spent 24 years serving in the u.s. senate and received the congressional gold medal and the presidential medal of freedom. glenn was the last survivor of the original mercury seven astronauts. glenn piloted the friendship 7

accused of killing her twin sister will likely be extradited to hawaii today. her attorney says they will not fight extradition. she killed her twin sister by driving their suv off a cliff earlier this year. the car crashed into a rock wall and plunged about 200 feet. witnesses claim the sisters were seen arguing in the car before that crash. she says she's innocent.

official there is are trying to protect them from a mumps outbreak. there were 44 cases in eight different schools. schools are giving the kids laptops and access to online teaching tools until they can go back to school. dylann roof's mother is in the hospital after suffering a heart attack in court on the first day of her son's death penalty trial. his mother collapsed as prosecutors described how her the mother is heard apologizing as family members came to help her. roof is charged for hate crimes. the defense attorney motioned for a mistrial after the medical episode, but it was denied. a positive update for former astronaut buzz aldrin. this photo from overnight he's leaving new zealand and appears to be healthy and okay.

a lot of people would agree that getting your car towed is a nightmare. there's one county in our area considering a towing crackdown. the county board will discuss and vote on changes to the arlington county towing code. some people are worried the board may not go far enough in protecting drivers. they are pushing for changes like requiring a business owner to sign off on each on site tow. >> it's important to consumers if they get towed in the future. >> companies are pushing back on the proposed restrictions. the board meets next week. between the beltway and gainsville. the contract would allow to use the toll lanes but pay a higher rate. the trucks would be required to
