suspect shot them. news 4's chris gordon is live with how it happened. chris? >> reporter: tonight, investigators tell us exactly how they think the shooting went down. take a look behind me. you see an active crime scene. investigators gathering evidence hours after two deputies are shot at point blank range. a neighbor heard the gun fire. >> it sounded louder than a gunshot but maybe because it was inside the house. but there was a boom. >> reporter: investigators say an at 4:00 p.m. christmas eve, deputies arrived here responding to a call. a domestic dispute at this house in sterling, virginia. deputies try to calm an aen

between a father and his 19-year-old daughter wougt success. the father goes upstairs. three deputies follow him to the bedroom to take him in custody. >> he reached for a gun. almost simultaneously, he was tased and he got several shots off. he hit two deputies. >> a female deputy is shot in the leg. a male officer is hit in both legs and is an arm. a third deputy subdued the father, taking him in custody. >> there were four or five cops. and he is trying to wrestle him on the ground here. >> the sheriff visited with the two wounded deputies in the hospital just before coming to this briefing. >> i doesn't appear at this point there is going to be a need for surgery. so far, everything is looking for good them medically. >> reporter: at this house, the suspect in the shootings is being bod.
