may see a few snowflakes tomorrow night! a strong canadian cold front will approach the region on tuesday. ahead of that front expect a gusty southwest wind that will push temperatures well into the 50s. this cold front won t have much moisture to work with. however, as it passes tuesday evening we may see a few raindrops or even a few snowflakes fall. behind the front on wednesday it will be sharply colder, with high temperatures only in the mid- to-upper 30s, despite plenty of sunshine. but after that, we will enjoy a warming trend through the rest of the work week and into the weekend. we will climb into the upper 40s on thursday, the 50s on friday and to near 60a on saturday. however we may see some wet weather with the warm weather on saturday. we are forecasting a 40% chance for showers. and some of those could linger into early on sunday. but most of the day is looking dry.

sunshine returns for martin luther king day on monday with high temperatures in the upper 40s. sent from my iphone t newshcannel 3 following breaking news out of portsmouth -- where police are investigating an undetermined death of a two- month-old baby. officials say the call came in just after 8-30 this morning. police responded to a home on deep creek boulevard and found a baby boy unresponsive. officials say the body was taken to medical examiner to determine cause of death.

not raised his paw and swore and oath he is still apart of oour police family and he was doing police work when this tragedy happened norfolk police chief michael goldsmith - mourning the loss of one of his own. after k9 krijger was shot and killed after a 7 hour stand-off on land street overnight. :46 this is about asbout as d as it gets for a k9 officer to watch their partner go down in the line of duty like thisthe chief was admiant about not talking about the investigation. an investigation that started at this 6pm sunday. after a woman called saying her husband 58- year old keith richardson held her at gunpoint and threatened to kill her. when officers got to the house - the 7 hours standoff began. who is this talking? 17:27 never happen never never happen in here police say richardson had barricaded himself in the house - and that their negotiating team was able to talk to him - but that he refused to drop his weapon and surrender. police even said he came out of the house a couple times - the second time offficers say richardson had a gun - thats when police say they released krijger to take him down arrest him - and thats when richardson shot and killed the 4

police say thats when they shot him. richardsons neighbor gene strickland -had been texting him through the standoff - 56:13 i was texting back and forth with him saying you know this is not going to end well with you, please surrender he tells a different story. saying richardson wasnt threatening officers and that he was shot before krijger the k9 was killed. 58:00 they had already shot him in the leg he was already on the ground and the german shepard was eating him alive so he took the gun to his left side and shot the dog we took the conflicting story back to norfolk police - but they stand by their story that richardson shot the k9 first - before officers pulled their trigger. now there is both an internal administrative invsegitation and a criminal investigation into what happened. richardson is in the hopsital in critical condidtion - facing several

authorities are not commenting on the cause of death until an autopsy is completed. live in the control room, mk, newschannel 3 new details -- a norfolk state university basketball player is finally out of a coma . amber brown has been in the hospital since new year s day. that )s when her teammates found her unresponsive in her dorm room. as she continues to recover -- the n-s-u community is coming together to help. at saturday nights game students walked up and down the bleachers collecting money to help cover ambers ) medical bills. at this point - amber is still in critical condition. her family tells newschannel three they believe it s diabetes-related. fundraisers will continue to be held at all home basketball games this month the lady spartans play tonight at 6. the accomack county sheriff s office is investigating after two people were found shot at the same apartment complex. police say officers were patrolling pine street apartment in onancock --when they saw several people shooting at each

according to officials an officer confronted one shooter -- and they pointed a gun in the officers direction. the officer fired one shot and the person ran away. police found a man with multiple gunshot wounds at the scene. ten minutes later police found another person who had been shot. both were taken to the hospital and released. nadir toppin was taken into custody by police and charged with reckless handling of a firearm. toppin was released on a 15-thousand- dollar bond. but police believe others were involved -- and are asking anyone with information to call the accomack county sheriff s office at 757-787- 1131. still a lot of questions today after a man was found dead in his norfolk home this weekend. police say they were called to a house in ocean view on pretty lake avenue around 12-30 saturday afternoon. that s where they found a 28-year- old who had been shot. he died at the scene. right now police are calling the death undetermined -- on the military watch --

new details -- the f-b-i says agents caught a woman accused of targeting jewelry stores in five states. the 24-year-old was taken into custody friday in georgia.

the f-b-i identified the suspected armed jewelry store robber in this surveillance video as abigail kemp from cobb county. authorities say she stole millions of dollars worth of jewelry...and she was wanted in multiple states, including georgia. the 24- year-old was arrested friday in smyrna, along with a man who investigators haven t identified yet. we obtained a federal affidavit that links kemp to at least six robberies in five states since april. the documents, authorities say she served as a lookout in some cases. in another robbery, she s accused of ordering store employees to the back room and zip-tying their hands. in one more, authorities say she stole more than 900- thousand dollars worth or merchandise. the eight-month spree began at a jareds store in woodstock. since then, kemp is accused of pulling off five more heists in georgia, tennessee, florida, south carolina and north carolina. we found a 2011 arrest warrant out of cobb county for kemp for battery, along with this mug shot. the f- b-i says they used her social media accounts to link a getaway vehicle in the robberies back to her. i went by

singer david bowie has died following an 18- month battle with cancer. the news was posted on his official website today. bowie s relatives say he "died peacefully" sunday "surrounded by his family and friends." bowie s career spanned more than four decades. he first rose to fame in the 60 )s, and inspired the "glam rock" movement of the 70 )s. bowie had just released his 25-th album "blackstar" on friday, which was also his birthday. he was 69 years old. the notorious mexican drug lord joaquin guzman is facing extradition to the united states. police say the fugitive - better known as "el chapo" -- was recaptured on friday. they say he was hiding in this house -- but managed to run away before being stopped on a highway. el chapo s multi- billion dollar cartel has been a major supplier of illegal drugs to the u-s. he was first arrested in 1993 -- and has escaped from prison twice.

friends and family breathed a sigh of relief. ronnie cisko killed chuck setchel in a bar fight at zino s restaurant back in 2014. surveillance video shows what went down that night. you can see cisko get up -- hit setchel -- in the throat. setchel died of a severed artery. today -- cisko s defense attorney argued that cisko never meant to kill setchel -- and asked that he serve just one year in prison. the judge said he based his decision on cisko s lengthy

emergency crews in pennsylvania rescued a worker who got trapped in a hole at least 14-feet deep. officials say he got stuck while working on a sewer line . police say they re still not sure how it happened. rescuers managed to pull him out about two hours later. witnesses say he was conscious and talking to rescuers. officials say he was taken to the hospital for observation. it was already the biggest jackpot is u-s history... and it just got bigger! the total reaching now a one-point-four billion dollars. lottery hopefuls keep stocking up on tickets, despite staggering odds. bryan mims has the story.
