and because of those bitterly cold temps, black ice on roads, bridges and overpasses will be a major concern tonight through early sunday morning, so be careful. the winds will be a big player in our weather this evening. with strong winds from the north- northwest around 20 and 30 mph, with gusts up to 40-45 mph, there will be a concern for tidal flooding, especially around high tide. high tide at sewells point will be at 8:49 pm saturday evening. water levels will mainly reach minor levels. however, some moderate flooding could occur in some spots. snow will taper off overnight into early sunday morning. in fact, as most of us are getting started with our day on sunday, the clouds will begin to break up, giving way to a good deal of sunshine through the day.
right now -- virginia beach police have shut down westbound traffic on shore drive near atlantic avenue because of a fatal accident it happened just before 4 this afternoon. police say the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. only one car was involved. both speed and icy road conditions may have been a factor. on interstate 64 west bound in newport news - our crew came across three crashes in just a four mile stretch this morning. this was around eight-thirty near fort eustis. police had to block lanes at some points while they worked to get everything cleared. and there was a fatal accident this morning just before 7-30 on eye-64, east of indian river road. police say a woman crossed over the grassy median to the westbound lane and was t-boned by a truck. she was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of the truck suffered minor injuries. police say the woman was not wearing her safety belt -- and its unclear if weather played a factor in the crash. and this is what the roads
in newport news. yesterday -- virginia state police responded to nearly 850- crashes across the commonwealth - that s including one on route 17-where a man died. police say he lost control of his car and hit a tree. right now level four wind restrictions are in place at the chesapeake bay bridge tunnel. that means winds are greater than 60 miles per hour. the only types of vehicles allowed to cross are cars without exterior cargo, pick-up trucks without cargo, mini-vans, and suvs. we continue our live team coverage -- in ocean view -- where newschannel three s makenzie walter is tonight makenzie -- that s an area that could be prone to
