hampton roads today as they gear up for super tuesday. friends family and fellow officers are remembering a virginia police officer-- shot and killed on her first day on the job. let s get a quick check of your weather. new this morning in virginia beach: one person is in the hospital in a late night accident. officers were called to the intersection of mill dam road and first colonial road just before 10-30 last night for a motorcycle crash. the

was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. the southbound lanes at first colonial road were closed while the crash was investigated, but have since opened. friends family and fellow officers got together to remember a prince william county police officer --killed on her first day on patrol. the vigil was held in woodbridge last night for officer ashley guindon. guindon and two other officers were responding to a domestic dispute saturday night when they were shot. guindon, a 6 year marine corp reservist and previous intern with the police department... was just sworn in friday. the two other officers who were shot are still in the hospital. the suspect charged with shooting them -- 32 year old ronald hamilton -- is an active duty army staff sergeant assigned to the pentnton. he will make his first court appearance later this morning. we move through our monday, expect high temperatures in the upper 60s and lower 70s. a weak cold front will

also in portsmouth -- police say two young boys were

the first happened just after 10-30 yesterday morning on lancer drive. police say a 7- year-old shot himself in the hand as he was playing with an unsecured gun inside his home. his mother called 9-1-1 as she was driving him to the hospital. he is in be okay. not long after -- over on moregate lane in the churchland section of the city -- a 9-year- old was shot in the leg by another boy playing with a gun he found outside. the boy was taken to the hospital and will also be okay. investigations are still ongoing and charges are pending in both cases. portsmouth police say these incidents are an important reminder to talk to your kids about gun safety, even if you dont own a gun. in newport news -- police are investigating three shootings in one day. police say a teen was shot on jefferson avenue -- near dresden drive around 11- saturday night. police say when they got to the scene they found 18-year-old horton hunter with a gunshot

he was taken to the hospital and released shortly after -- but was then arrested by police. police say the carrolton man had two outstanding warrants for assault and battery on a family member -- and a protective order violation. no word on who shot him. there were two other shootings in newport news saturday. one was on 25th street. police say a 19-year-old was shot in the leg twice. he says it was out of the blue. the other happened on jefferson ave in the parking lot of the pondo cafe and lounge. police say a man was shot in the chest and was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. no word on his condition. if you know anything about these two shootings -- call the crime line. as presidential hopefuls gear up for super tuesday -- hampton roads continues to be a hot bed for the candidates. makenzie walter has more. makenzie walter is live in norfolk where hillary clinton is

hampton roads has been inundated with presidential candidates these past few days - weve had bernie sanders, donald trump and ted cruz. super tuesday will be a huge indicator of what could happen in this race so its no wonder we re getting a few more high profile visitors in the next couple of hours. hampton roads - a target for candidates as we approach super tuesday. last night - hundreds packed the virginia beach convention center to see republican nominee marco rubio. 17;16 we want to be the greatest nation, the united states of america heading into tuesday - a c-n-u poll has rubio with the highest approval rating among virginia voters - but still polling behind trump in the republican party. 21;28 i would prefer to run in a race where the people are debating ideas, but when the people debating have no ideas... 22;15 if we nominate donald trump as the front runner we will lose this election today - two more candidates visit the area with hopes of gaining ground before the pivotal vote tomorrow and will be able to defend themselves to virginia voters first hand.. 20;13 hillary clinton does not want to run against me but i can t wait to run against her hillary clinton - fresh off a big

50-year-old old larry turner, 26-year-old devine string- field - and two- year-old ian lewis were killed when their mobile home was destroyed during thursday s storm. tonight s candle light vigil is being organized by the women s social club of wakefield. it gets underway at 6-30 p-m at the annie b jackson elementary school in waverly. just days after the tornado outbreak --the virginia national guard, along with local, state, federal and volunteer organizations were out helping those in need in appomattox county. petersburg and fredericksburg- based battalions used chainsaws to cut down the debris in some of the hardest hit areas. the soldiers also conducted health and welfare checks -- and helped deliver food and water to the victims. coming up a virginia beach based seal is set to receive the nation s highest-p&military honor. more on his risky mission that saved a doctor kidnapped by the

later today: president obama will award the nation )s highest military honor-to a virginia beach based navy seal who helped rescue a u-s hostage in afghanistan. edward byers junior took part in a risky mission to save a doctor kidnapped by the taliban. michelle kosinski has the story. as a navy seal, edward byers jr. is no stranger to danger. the night of december 8th, 2012 brought plenty of it. edward byers jr., navy seal, medal of honor recipient : "the mission that night was a hostage rescue mission. so to us that means it s a no-fail mission. our objective - our goal - is to bring back an american hostage alive."and that, he and other seals did, rescuing doctor dilip joseph who the taliban in afghanistan had been holding captive for about four days.

new this morning a cyber hack into the i-r-s is worse than initially thought. the federal agency says scammers gained access to more than seven hundred thousand accounts - more than double than previously estimated. the information stolen includes data that could be used to file a false tax return and collect a refund. the i-r-s is mailing notifications to affected tax payers. north korea has released video of the u-v-a student who they say confessed to a hostile act against the country. two months ago north korea arrested otto warmiber-- a third year business major at u-v-a. he is accused of trying to steal a political banner handing in a pyongyang hotel back in january.

warmbier says he wishes the united states never manipulated people like himself to countries. outcue: "..
