70 thanks to a brisk ne breeze to 20 mph. some areas will stay in the 60s today, and there is a chance for a few sprinkles near the lake. tonight is clear and cool with lows in the 50s. an explosion this morning at the space-x launch site in cape canaveral, florida.nasa says space-x was conducting a test firing of an unmanned happened shortly after 9.a second explosion a second explosion occured about 20 minutes later.the test, considered routine, was in advance of a planned saturday launch.fortunantly no one was injured in the accident. four survivors of the colorado movie theater shooting-- have been ordered to pay that movie theater chain thousands of dollars.more than two dozen survivors sued the theater's owner-- cinemark... claiming it did not have enough security measures in place to prevent the shooting.in may... the jury ruled cinemark was

and most of the survivors instead took a small settlement.a judge has ordered the four survivors who refused the settlement-- to pay the theater-- 700-thousand dollars for legal bills.and that's just for the state case.the costs in the federal case are expected to be far more. august was the deadliest month for chicago in 20 years... with 90 deadly shootings. chicago is the the nation's third-largest city and has already experienced more homicides this year than the bigger cities of los angeles and new york combined. chicago police superintendent eddie johnson says the majority of the shootings are being done by repeat gun offenders. where we need help is our state legislators helping us to get the judges the tools that they need to hold these repeat gun offenders accountable. year- to-date, there have been more than 23- hundred shootings and 471 shooting deaths in chicago. milwaukee police asking for help in identifying several suspects wanted in connection with an armed robbery.the

at the b-p gas station, near 35th and mckinley.police say one of the suspects had a gun and instructed others to steal several items.anyone with information is asked to call police. as the new school year begins... a recent report shows a lingering disparity in the number of minorities working as teachers. according to the brown center on education policy... 1/2 the country's public school students are minorities -- but only 18 percent of teachers are.here in milwaukee -- the gap is much bigger -- 86 percent of students are minorities percent of teachers.the district is hoping to better that number... about ? of the teachers of color we recruit are actually current employees or former ployees who co back to us after their teacher program those employees typically work as para-professionals before they get teaching degrees. the district provides financial help for the needed schooling... so that they can be promoted to the classroom. back to scho time is a ?multi billion dollar business. back to school spending has

past decade-- and it's on pace to go up. e national retail federation is predicting parents and students will spend about 27 billion dollars on back to school supplies! the n-r-f says deep discounts will drive the most shoppers to stores. spending will also be up at department and clothing stores. a lot-- has happened during summer break including some progress on a new private school in milwaukee that'll open up next summer. back in april, we found out "st. augustine prep" would be coming to the city. the 80- million will sit on eleven acres at west harrison and south fifth street. it'll serve two thousand students. the school will also partner with the milwaukee school of engineering and marquette-- to provide a unique learning experience. more international students are studying at carroll university this year than ever before, almost every continent is represented. when students got off their plane at mitchell international yesterday, they were greeted by students, faculty and pioneer pete. students are coming from 25 countries to
