right now at five: families evacuated... as flames rip through an apartment building in mukwonago. several of those families unable to return to their apartments tonight. macias joins us in the newsroom with more on what happened. veronica? a former fire-fighter is among the families displaced by this morning's fire. after years of seeing others lose their belongings -- its now happened to her. my niece and nephew's birthday is tomorrow and i bought them cards. beth brester is eladed that tomorrow she will have gifts for her niece and nephew who are celebrating birthdays. the fire-fighter paramedic turned

around 5 - beth found herself on the other side of an emergency situation. "we got woken up at about a quarter to five this morning with banging on the doors. and a guy from the apartment across from us yelling that there was a fire in the building that we needed to get out. once it was considered safe firefighters allowed her and other back into their apartments to salvage whatever items they could. her unit was one of six damage. two apartments according to fire officials were destroyed in the blaze. . the fire extended into a storage unit, closest for that apartment and it extended up into the roof the red cross is assisting and fire investigators are working to determine the cause. one fire- fighter suffered a minor injury to his hand. "half of my way is taken out in my living room and ceilings are pulled down 'but your alive' i'm alive. that's all that

the culver's in greenfield is trying to pay it forward today. it's donating a portion of its sales to raise funds for the family of a young milwaukee girl. 17-year-old marisol cevallos died this week when she was struck by a school bus near 9th and oklahoma. this was the scene at 3rd and m-l-k this morning. a car crashed into a check cashing store.there were no serious injuries... and no word on what led up to that crash. voting came to an end in milwaukee today. the city set a record earlier this week, for early voting turnout. we found lots of people taking advantage of the perfect weather to cast their ballots: (("i know tuesday's gonna be pretty crazy so i figured i'd go out and get it over with."))
