emerald, this is an epidemic that touches a large number of americans in some way or another each year. - absolutely, mark. - i've been looking into how many people get sent to the hospital every year for prescription drug overdoses...and the most recent information i was able to find says 92 thousand people find themselves here at the hospital for taking too many drugs. - it's an epidemic that's caught all of our attention...and now the fda is trying to do more to bring those numbers down - so soon, if you or someone you love uses opioids to help control pain...you're going to see some big changes on how the drugs are labeled. - immediate-release opioids like morphine, vicodin and percocet will have strong risks of misusing the drugs and how that can lead to and death... - and now, labels for going to say they should only be taken when there are no other treatments - florida has had a huge prescription drug abuse in the past...between 2003 and 2009, deaths spiked by 61 percent...forcing
