good morning and welcome to 10 news this morning. i'm allison kropff. and i'm ian reitz. election day is just over two weeks away. but early vo kicks off today...the same day donald trump will be back in tampa. trump will be at the mid florida credit union amphitheatre tonight. 10news reporter sarah hollenbeck is live there now. sarah, it's no secret how crucial it is for both candidates to win here in florida. for donald trump a win here is critical-- that's why he'll be hosting a rally with another big crowd here tonight. as for hillary clinton, she's vowing to be in florida so much over the next two weeks that it'll be
meanwhile, our local supervisor of elections offices are busy. every local county in tampa bay-- besides pasco and highlands counties-- will open select locations for early voting today. pinellas county gave us a look at one of their five early voting sites. wheter you choose to vote early or on november 8th, election officials say there's a crucial item you should bring with you. mail in ballots have also been pouring in...so much so that some of our local counties opened up drop off locations this past weekend. at 5-30..one mistake you could easily make that could get you in huge trouble--and it has to do with your ballot and your smart phone. i'm digging into that now..and will have that information you need to hear in 30 minutes. ian.... as trump
campaigning in florida, hillary clinton will be visiting hillsborough county on wednesday. but later today she'll hold a rally with senator elizabeth warren in new hampshire. clinton criss- crossed north carolina sunday...appearing a group called 'mothers of the movement' in raleigh. during her speech she blasted donald trump at a rally in charlotte. recent polls show a number of pivotal states slipping away from trump...including the usually red state of texas. the latest cbs battleground tracker shows trump leading clinton by only 3 points in the state. clinton leads the poll by three points in florida. another big issue on the ballot here in florida is amendment 2--which would make medical marijuana legal in the state.
live in st. pete this morning. emerald, if the amendment passes, we could see more people moving to the state to take advantage of the law. yeah, it's happened in other places... real estate agents we talked to say in some parts of colorado, there was about a 10 percent increase in property values after marijuana became legal. and we could see the same thing happen here. and some people like rose ter-la-hee say they'd definitely be among those who would move to florida to take advantage of the new law if it passes. she says a high thc cannabis oil has been the only thing to help her son stop hurting himself. ter-la-hee says the drug has been so helpful to her family, that she's willing to relocate from georgia. she's already optimistic that voters will change the law in her favor...she's spent all week looking for a new place to stay in the tampa
her optimism might be warranted this time around. an effort to legalize medical marijuana failed a couple of years ago, but new polls show a change in voter opinion. i'll have more for you coming up at 5:30. back to you. investigators in southern california are trying to figure out what caused a tour bus to crash into a semi-truck. the california highway patrol says 13 people were ll bus driver. another 31 people were hurt. it happened in palm springs...about 100 miles east of los angeles. a survivor told police most of the passengers were sleeping at the time of the crash. the bus was heading back to l-a from a casino near palm springs. police say the bus was inspected
issues were noted. the national transportation safety board is sending a team to california to investigate. a crazy story out of miami. right now, eight people are recovering after police say a car slammed into a church during sunday morning services. thankfully, no one was directly hit by the car. those hurt were sitting in the pews next to where the car hit. they are expected to be okay. debris flew from the wall and hit them when the car slammed the building. the pastor of the church says the driver was able to walk away from the crash. the driver told him he was trying to avoid another car that turned onto the road but didn't stop for oncoming traffic. this forced him to swerve, lose control, and hit the church. tensions remain high this morning in north dakota between police and protesters. over the weekend, more than 80 pipeline protesters were arrested for trespassing.
protesters were protesting at a dakota access pipeline construction site. some got violent. two officers got hurt trying to arrest them. the protests were getting so out of hand, deputies had to call in for help from other agencies. good news this morning as your head to the pump to fill up. gas prices across the u-s continue to fall. experts say gas prices usually follow a downward trend through the final months of the year. they also say florida prices won't see a dramatic drop unless oil prices do. here's a look at the prices right now. average price for a gallon of unleaded is 2.22. the state's average is a bit higher at 2. 25. in the bay area, the average is lower at 2.19 if you're looking for a job, there's a job fair today in tampa. it's all happening at the seminole hard rock hotel and casino. more than 200 jobs are up for grabs. there are positions from servers, to marketing jobs and security. you'll need to head down to the hard rock cafe anytime today between 11:00 and 2:00. the bucs have a nice little streak going. they won big on the road sunday

few weeks. it wasn't just snow that came to the northeast. high winds also came and knocked out power to a few thousand people. a fire destroys a family's milk parlor in upstate new york. you can just see the flames crews were up against. thankfully, no one was hurt and the 80s cows who were inside got out safely. with the milk parlor gone, the family needs to find somewhere to hold their cows. two farms nearby say they are willing to help. the family does have insurance and they say they will rebuild the parlor. the cause of the fire is under investigation. crazy video out of indiana this morning. it's back to
construction crews in noblesville after a natural gas explosion destroyed this house that was in the process of being built. look at all the damage. all utilities were immediately shut off to the home to avoid more damage. thankfully, no one was hurt. the damage is worth about 300 thousand dollars. neighbors say the explosion was so big, it shook their homes.
