good morning and welcome to 10 news this morning. i'm allison kropff. and i'm ian reitz. another night of protests across the nation in response to our president- elect donald trump. demonstrators in red and blue states alike once again took their frustration to the streets. 10news reporter emerald morrow is live in ybor city where local protesters filled the streets. emerald, this anger doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon.

these protests that we're seeing across the country represent the rage a significant part of the country has over the uncertainty they feel with president-elect donald trump taking office in two months. you could hear the chanting throughout most many major cities throughout the country. and although most of the protests were peaceful...the demonstrations escalateto in portland, oregon. officers had to start physically pushing people back, and used flash bombs and some form of gas to get the crowds under control. in once case, demonstrators were physically threatened... this man came out of his portland apartment and pointed a gun at the protesters after he said they broke his window. thankfully no one was hurt...but demonstrators across the country say violent protesters do not represent what they stand for. and take a look at

president-elect donald trump has already reacted to protests against his presidency. here's what he said. "just had a very open and successful presidential election. now professional protesters, incited by the media, are protesting. very unfair!" and coming up at 5:30, we'll talk more about ths growing divide...and hear from more protesters on why th to take to the streets. back to you. there are 70 days until president-elect donald trump takes office. on thursday, he met with president obama to begin the transition process. they had an hour and a half discussion in the oval office focusing on domestic and foreign policy. the president- elect also met with senate majority leader mitch mcconnell and house speaker paul ryan... pledging to 'hit the ground running' come january. one thing mister trump has vowed to do is repeal the

hashtagged the photo "i'm still with her." it's important to honor our nation's veterans every single day, especially today-- veteran's day. today is a historic holiday for one group of veterans in particular: women. 10news reporter sarah hollenbeck is live in the newsroom. sarah, women finally broke through the red tape. yes, this is the first veterans day since the historic ban on women participating in ground combat was lifted....and that makes today even more special for all veterans-- both there are 19 million veterans living in the united states, and nearly 2 million of them are women. earlier this year, two west point graduates were accepted into ranger school, becoming role models for the next generation of female warriors. and now-- 22 young women are about to be commissioned as infantry and armor officers as they graduate from west point, officer candidate and

programs. they face rigorous tasks, but if they meet the challenge and pass their remaining courses, they will be in line to become platoon leaders. in future years some of these women may make it to company commander, leading 200 combat troops at a time, and perhaps some years after that, some will become battalion commanders, responsible for as many as 1,000 combat troops. here's what i'm digging into at 5- 30...for our veterans, both men and women, the fight doesn't continue when they come home. suicide is a big problem, but a brand new treatment center is making a big difference. i'll introduce you to the unique program at 5-30. allison..... you now have more time to visit prince's paisley park in minnesota. the museum is adding new tour dates through march 31. starting this december, you can go to a "paisley park after dark" dance party. that only

nights. on saturdays, the museum will feature prince movies and rare performance footage. really bizarre video out of orlando. two bald eagles are now free after being trapped in a drainage ditch. you can see the whole rescue right on your screen. originally police thought one of the bald eagles was trying to protect the other one, but wildlife experts believe the birds may have gotten into a fight in the air and both fell into the drain. one bald eagle was able to fly away, but the second eagle had to be rescued. as of right now, we have not gotten an update on how the bird is doing. the incident caused quite the traffic jam. the american bald eagle is the national bird and is a federally protected bird. a lot of you have

police in riot gear break up an anti- trump protest in portland, oregon after demonstrators broke windows and started a dumpster fire. wipe across the country thousands continued to protest overnight. most demonstrations were peaceful. wipe president-elect donald trump's transition to the white house is officially underway.

obama in the oval office.> it's beginning to look a lot of christmas. ian, the rockefeller christmas tree in new york city is a big icon for the holidays. right now, the tree is on its way to the big apple. it was cut from oneonta, new york. that's about a three hour drive north from the city. the 94-foot norway spruce was cut down on thurday and loaded to a truck. get this, it's about 56 feet wide and weighs about 14 to 15 tons. it's expected to arrive tomorrow. you'd expect a tree of this size to be found in the mountains, but it was actually picked from a family's back yard. this is the second tallest rockefeller center

the tree's 50 thousand lights will be switched on november 30th. this is pretty funny. the family who donated the tree says they won't really miss the massive tree standing in their backyard. they say they are happy they don't have to clean up the gutters or moss on the roof anymore. it will probably be hard to wake up in the middle of the night, but a historical moon will soon be lighting up the sky next week. the supermoon happens when the moon is slightly closer to earth than normal. it can actually appear about 14 percent bigger and 30 percent brighter! you'll be able to see it shining from november 13th to the 14th. nasa says the last one was in

hands on some spectacles from snapchat, you are out of luck. they went on sale on thursday in a vending machine on venice beach. get this, they sold out within four hours! the 129 video glasses went on sale, without any notice. the vending machine will be moved to another spot soon, but it hasn't been announced. we checked ebay this morning, and found a pair selling for nearly a thousand dollars. every now and then we hear of a crazy marriage every now and then we hear of a crazy marriage proposal. but, this proposal may be tough to beat. check this out. a couple was flying in an airplane, when the woman you see right there notices something on the ground.

good morning, it's i'm allison kropff. and i'm ian reitz. news of president-elect donald trump becoming our 45th commander in chief is still not settling well with some. thousands of protesters came together for the second night of 10news reporter emerald morrow is live in ybor city where protesters gathered last night. emerald, most of the protests across the nation were peaceful, but at least one turned violent. yeah, lucky for us, we didn't have any problems as people marched here along 7th street in ybor. tampa police say the most they had to deal with was routing traffic detours and guarding the entrance ramps to i-275... but other parts
