i or will i ever endorse any sort of illegal or unethical behavior. at no point did i take this person seriously. he struck me as eing unstable and joking. and for only that reason did i humor him in hindsight. i should have immediately walked away making it clear that there is no place in the electoral process for the suggestion of a legal -- illegal behavior, joking or not. as can you imagine, we had a few keys for patrick and his father and spent the day looking for them. we started for headquarters for arlington democrats around the corner from where the video was shot in hopes to fine someone who can put us in touch with patrick moran. no one knew how to reach him and a spokesperson didn't return phone or e-mail messages. from there, we went to his shirlington apartment and where none answered the door. the next stop is the campaign headquarters on north washington street in alexandrea, where the only thing we found was a locked

door. the congressman's pyrotechnic was not returning calls -- press secretary was not returning calls or e-mail. we were told the congressman was not in and that no one could talk to us. this afternoon, the arlington gop chairman, his name is charles hawkinson, called for jim moran to resign. i'm going to bring in a democratic activist. i'm sorry, strategist and a slip of the tongue there. this doesn't look good, does it? >> and today they trying to get the facts to figure out what is happening. sure, they want to be careful with what they say. >> how damaging is this? >> and this is hard to say. he resigned which, i think is appropriate and arlington is a democratic area. i think he will be ableso

u.s. constitution to sign any petition anywhere in the country and not get punished for it. >> all she did was to exercise her right you were the maryland state constitution and to exer as the -- exercise the civic duty and that is a major injustice, we believe. >> and in a statement, the university said she is suspended with pay and they're talking with lawyers and student groups about the situation. hurricane sandy threatening to tear through the east coast. the storm made landfall in cuba. maximum winds, 114 miles an hour and there are predictions that 90% of the east coast could be in affected in some form or another. gary mcgrady joins us now with the weather center. >> and as we have -- definite, the east coast is going to be greatly impacted by this storm. and it's continuing to move up to the north. there is still a lot of

clouds this evening and to 10, 11, 12:00 and there is go be to be a chance of spotty drizzle and fog forming and that will carry with us on through the overnight hours and as well. and this is the tropical satellite picture of hurricane sandy, kind of moving up not quite as well defined as it was and that is getting a barrage from upper level winds and over time, that is weakening from the category sustained and 105 miles an hour and to a category one hurricane and over the next few days and into the early part of the weekend, and that is a category 1 hurricane offshore from north carolina and this is a forecast that slowed down quite a bit. right now, the hurricane center pushed the trap to the northwest in time for the

landfall and maybe still a minimal hurricane and up around new jersey and manhattan. can you see the cone of uncertainty into the future and that is including d.c. the worst case is scenario, the storm will make landfall north of the metro and helping us out and look at future cast, not only do we have the storm coming up the east coast, we have a low trough of pressure and they will protect us and this is looks like it's in a little too late to keep it offshore and the store will go offshore and in the ladder -- latter term, sunday and monday, this trough of low pressure, again, sometimes protects us will suck the storm back up towards the northeast and making landfall right now and into new york city by tuesday, tuesday evening. as you can imagine, we're talking about the potential of

some very high wind. hurricane force wind and wind gust. a lot of beach erosion for the entire east coast. rip currents for the entire east coast. he surf for the entire east coast and with all of the rainfall, talking about the likelihood of flooding from eastern carolina to the del marva is is&to the northeast and the next five days, up to a foot and through d.c. and i-95 and in through five inches and to the north and west and that their is a lot going on the next few days and we're down to 60, and temperature hovering around 70 degrees and this is your fox 5 accuweather seven- day forecast, and on sunday, monday, and tuesday influenced by what hurricane sandy is going do.

i think the best thing to do with hurricane sandy is give it another 24-36 hours. we'll get a nice model and really haven't changed much in the fox 5 accuweather seven-day forecast. chilly showers on sunday, some wind, too, and that doesn't mean it's going to rain all day. it's into sunday night and monday, early tuesday and most of the day tuesday, that is when we're going to feel the brunt of what the storm is going to bring and, keep in mind, things could still change greatly depending on the exact track of what hurricane sandy wants to do. >> now you have the news edge. back here in a few minutes.
