county, two people are dead following a multi-car crash. thank you for staying with us, i'm tony perkins >> i'm shawn yancy. that crash happened at the intersection of air park and wood field roads in gaithersburg. fox 5 anjali hemphill is on the scene with the latest. >> reporter: i can tell you the aftermath of this crash is horrific. we're also learning the two people who died are adult men and both drivers of the cars involved in this accident. you can probably still see mind he air park road is com large section of this road is shut down to wood field road. debris is strewn across the roadway. actually used to be three cars that were involved in this very violent crash. police say just before 8:00 tonight, a car was traveling southbound on air park road for an unknown reason crossed over and collided with two cars
direction. i'm told driver of the southbound car was ejected and died here at the scene. also, one of the drivers of the car heading northbound also died. both of them adults men. a fourth car came up on the crash after the fact and i'm told collided with the other cars that were involved. a total of four cars there. the two other drivers, i'm told chose note get medical treatment. this is a very violent crash here. there were lots of other people driving by that witnessed this crash. our hearts go out to the fil the holidays. air park road here will remain closed for several hours as police continue their investigation unless you live in a neighborhood off air park road you will not be able to head down this way. you're urged to avoid the area if you can. live in gaithersburg, anjali hemphill fox 5 local news. investigators trying to figure out what led to deadly
tennessee. the bus was carrying 35 students when it hit a utility pole and rapid around a tree. police are investigating the cause, right now, they believe speed may have been factor. >> controversy in a college campus, loyola asked student to change the theme. the theme america? gotten a lot of attention on social media. fox 5 sides of the story. >> reporter: the theme of the event in question? party in the usa and important to know this is one of several events for seniors and the theme was chosen months ago. the events ended up going on as planned but not without controversy. some administrators felt after the election, the america theme could end up dividing students, they urged them to change it.
the reaction from campus >> the theme was meant to bring everyone together. fact that trump won the election, i think kind of threw them off. if hillary won there wouldn't have been this controversy surrounding it >> there's nothing wrong with that being the theme. it was chosen over the summer before the election >> i talked to more than a dozen students. most did not want to go on camera. but the overall feeling was there was no need for any controversy surrounding this invite for the party. i'm told it wasn't just that wanted to change the party in the usa theme but also students upset about the result of the election. a university spokesman says there was concern that party goers might show up wearing offensive costumes. i talked to a senior who attended the event about what ended up happening there, and her thoughts on how all this played out. >> i think they were definitely
than reactive and try to avoid issues instead of possibly leaving it up to chance. >> s do you think that was the right mindset >> i think it was better to be cautious, i'm glad we were able to go along with the theme and kind of put faith back in the senior class >> the party was great. we ended up having a good time. everybody really enjoyed the theme. >> no one from the university would go on camera tonight. in statement, the school says that the party happened at a time when some students were feeling anxious and uncertain. and that prompted administrators government association who planned the party, and recommend they reconsider the timing of the theme of senior 200. that's the party, and if they chose to keep the theme. consider a plan to insure it would be welcoming to all in attendance. the statement goes on to say that we continue to work as a university to insure that all student viewpoints are heard and respected. we want to know what you think about this. you can weigh in, join the conversation, by visiting our
pages. in baltimore, lindsay watts fox 5 local news. there's a new twist tonight in the case of murdered dnc staff seth rich. his parents joel and mary rich met with reporters today when they said conspiracy there's swirling around are lies, they revealed new information, that no shell indicatesings were found at the scene. indicating a that was shot with a revolver. he was sewn there have been no breaks in the case. >> he fought with them, and whoever did it, they have bruises, they have blood on them. so if you saw anybody running in alleys, if you saw anybody coming home that was bruised and bloody, please call the police. let them check it out. >> currently there's a $125,000 reward for any information
if you know anything about the case, you're asked to call police. tonight, parents looking for answers following the arrest of a former montgomery county alarm school teacher. police arrested john vigna back in june for sexual offenses against students. sarah simmons is live at cloverly elementary school in silver springs. >>reporter: dozens of parents packed into the school cafeteria at closer elementary looking for answers to their q some sort of an update on the investigation, which, of course, police officers that were here could not say a lot since it is still an ongoing investigation. 50-year-old john vigna was arrested last thursday after three more female victims came forward saying that mr. vigna sexually abused them. one of those cases dates back to the year 2000. the other two are as recent as the 2013, 2014 school year and
cloverly elementary. he turned himself in last thursday and we spoke with parent after the meeting, here's what one woman, who has known vigna a long time here's what she had to say >> i've been in his house since i was two years old. and you know, he's a family friend. he's a coach. you know, he wouldn't have been all of that. this was a few young ladies accusing him of happened in 19 -- why didn't you say something? >> reporter: vigna is charged with two additional counts of sexual abuse with a minor, child abuse, exploitation, three additional counts of third degree sexual offense and currently being held without bond. that's the latest in silver springs, sarah simmons fox 5 local news. a major announcement today from maryland governor larry haring. the state is preparing to build

sources say he was admitted following a checkup for severe sleep deprivation. this came days after he cancelled his tour. it had 21 remaining stops including one here in dc. over the weekend, west cut a sacramento show short and went on a long rant about a number of celebrities. analysts estimated the tour cancelation will cost west about $30 million. of the original air men died. willie the passed away friday at the age of 101. he served as an air engineer in the famous all black aviation. after the war he moved to saint petersburg where he opened up an appliance business. he walked to church every sunday until just a few weeks ago.
