[laughter] >> beautiful weather coming up today. temperatures headed for those 80's. we've got 90's on tap for the weekend. more details coming up. hey, caitlin. >> mike i hear you're very well liked. crash on 210 in southern maryland force add closure at palmer road. details still coming in. maureen. >> thank you both of you checking in with you in just a few. we start with developing news out of adams morgan. two police officers an dpw traffic patrol aide were struck during a hearne. >> the suspected driver is in custody and we confirm that a weapon was in the trunk of the vehicle. fox5's melanie alnwick is live from the scene with the latest in this story. mel. >> reporter: hey, good morning, guys. yeah, in adams morgan still cordoned off a the pickup truck still on the scene though it looks like they're getting ready to tow it out of here which tells us they've finished what they need to do on the scene as far as gathering evidence goes. i want to

video we were able to shoot overnight. a lot of people find this very interesting. fbi agents arriving on the scene and you can see that jacket there, joint terrorism task force. now, we asked if terrorism was a motive of d.c. police chief peter newsham. he said that would have to be looked at closely. they're not ruling anything out at this time t we can tell you, yes, a gun was taken out of the white pickup truck that sped down 18th street in adams morgan and plowed into those two d.c. police bike officers and a d.c. traffic control aide. 9 p.m. on a thursday is a pretty busy time for the bars and restaurants here in adams morgan. witnesses tell us they saw the passenger get out of the pickup saying the driver went crazy and they didn't know what was wrong with him. many people captured the scene on cell phone sharing picture and video. we have video of a high vantage point where you can see the offic

out and also perhaps some of the folks in the pickup truck as well being taken out and taken to the hospital o so, what we can tell you right now is that one officer remains in very critical condition. we do know from sources that he had surgery overnight. the other officer on the d.c. employee, they are in -- they were in serious condition but we're told that they have nonlife-threatening injuries. the initial charge for the driver when the driver was arrested was hit-and-run. both the driver aren't the and e passenger also taken to the hospital and we learned later in that late night press conference from d.c. police chief peter newsham that the passenger was also placed under arrest but he did not specify at that time what the charges are. live inn in adams morgan melanie alnwick. >> two suspects are in custody in connection with a stabbing spree in silver spring in the

road. the two teens suffered nonlife-threatening injuries. >> former fbi director james comey accusing president trump and his staff of lying about why he was fired. that was just one of his revelations made during his testimony yesterday. he revealed a details of a private oval office meeting in which the president said he hoped investigators would go easy on mike flynn, the national security adviser who died days before amid allegations he misled the vice president about contacts he had with a russian government official. >> i took it as a direction. i mean, as the president of the united states with me alone saying i hope this, i took it as this is what he wants me to do. >> comey also admitted he passed along information to a friend he knew would leak it to the press in order to provoke the justice department to appoint a special counsel. >> prosecutors argue that reality winner might pose -- might pose a threat of mor

stolen government documents. more government secrets. the former air force linguist was working as a government contractor when she apparently copied and mailed the classified report containing top-secret material and an online news organization. house republicans have approved legislation which seeks to dismantle banking regulations put into place after the financial crisis. the financial choice act is meant to replace the dodd frank wall street reform act. the the new legislation includes less stringent liquidity requirements, bank bans on investments and the repeal of the requirement that financial advisers helping clients with retirement accounts act in the client's best interests. critics say it goes too far. the house bill is not expected to survive in the senate where lawmakers are considering smaller scale bill. >> number of alcohol and drug related deaths in maryland last year was the largest ever recorded in the state.

accident. anyone leading up to that crash site will not be able to move. use springfield interchange little river turnpike. you're grow going to be stuck. please use alternates. gallows road to route 50 will get you around the scene, not through the scene until further notice. looks like this is going to take quite some time with cleanup with a flipped vehicle on site. that's the inner loop at route 50 in virginia. that's your look at traffic. maureen. >> former fbi director james comey accusing president trump and his staff of lying about why he was fired. >> those are just some of the fireworks during his testimony yesterday. fox5's annie yu joins us now with more. annie. >> reporter: hey, good morning to you, wisdom and maureen. well, for three hours former fbi director james comey told his side of the story before the senate intelligence committee. comey went on the record with a number of explosive claims and under oath comey told on the committee that phone calls and one-on-one with the president were concerning and he felt the need to create records. theor

accuses president trump and his staffers of lying about the reasons behind his termination less than a month ago. he revealed that trump himself was not personally under investigation in the fbi russia probe and also went on the record about a private oval office meeting in which the president said he hoped investigators would go easy on michael flynn the national security adviser who had resigned the day before amid allegations he misled the vp about contacts he had with a russian government official. now, president trump's personal lawyer, marc kasowitz responded to mr. comey's testimony. >> mr. comey has now finally confirmed publically what he repeated told president trump privately. that is, that the president was not under investigation as part of any probe into russian interference. the president never in form or substance directed or suggested that mr. comey stopping investigating anyone including

suggested that mr. comey "let flynn go." >> reporter: now, while there was no bombshell, no smoking gun, this was the first time we have heard from james comey and take questions under oath about his firing. the story far from being over obviously. stay tuned for now but for now we'll send it to you wisdom. >> annie thank you for that report. time is 4:50. the state of virginia is trying to eliminate its backlog of untested rape kits. virginia attorney general mark her ring announced a plan. the $3.4 million project will allow the state to analyze about 2000 kits. a new state law will ensure the massive backlog of rape kits does not happen again. >> group of gay republicans in north carolina claim they were banned from participating in this year's gay pride parade because they are trump supporters. brian talbert says he sent in an application to

then killed himself. this happened thursday morning. stair was in the middle of an overnight shift when he pulled two guns from a duffle bag and started shooting. he fired nearly 60 shots. >> investigators in georgia are looking into what may have led a church charter bus carrying students overturned after colliding with another car. one person is dead, dozens others injured. happened on a four-lane road outside of atlanta. the bus is from mount zion baptist church in huntsville alabama. the group was taking members of the student ministry to the atlanta airport. >> hackers got into britney spears account and planted malware. experts say they're trying to get fans to download plug ins through comments on her page. if you download it, they can watch everything you do on your computer. >> a pair of u.s. senators are asking the south by southwest festival to leave austin as a protest against texas' new sanctuary cities law. in a letter to ceo of south by southwt
