temperatures staying in the 90's well into the first part of next week. so, get prepared for an ac bill and as well once again, the challenge as i always say is to stay cool. we didn't do too bad right on the money 84 degrees at reagan national, 80 at dulles and 80 at bwi thurgood marshall. it was a bit breezy. we had lots of sunshine. it was comfortable with low humidity. that will change by sunday. ridge of high pressure is in control and the as a result of that, we are not seeing much happening in our sky conditions. we do have a trough to the north of us, so that will bring in a few clouds in the overnight hours but not that much that will make much of a difference with plenty of sunshine by tomorrow t and as we take a look at our forecast for tonight, we're talking 65 degrees. it will be a warm night. winds from the southwest at five to 10 miles an hour. so, pretty comfortable for sleeping. not all bad. actually i remember when 65 was a
so, the jet stream well to the north of us, just pumping in all that warm air. it's going to be pretty hot for tomorrow but even hotter on your sunday and once again, a return of humidity will start to sneak in the door by the time we get to sunday, so just realize that it's just that time of year. it's actually going to be feeling like august in june as those temperatures start to soar. so here's a look at your weekend forecast for you. expecting to reach 90 degrees for your saturday. not quite as humid but a hot 94 degrees on sunday. and i can't rule out on saturday maybe an isolated passing shower or a storm primarily for parts of northern maryland. we're going to keep an eye on that for you. but overall the heat is definitely on and the warmth is just beginning. i'll have more details and of course a look at that all important seven-day forecast in just a bit. back to you. >> thanks, gwen. >> ♪ new tonight scammed out of more than a thousand bucks each that's what some fairfax county high school seniors happened. they each paid to go on
long trip to the bahamas after graduation but now they say people coordinating the trip and collecting the money have gone mia. tisha lewis with that story. >> reporter: the students say they found out about the deal on the popular web site senior grad trips.com. the trip is not school sanctioned but it's a tradition at westville high school for seniors students to go to the bahamas for a week after graduation. this year the group decided to use a different web site all to save money. now they say they're out of that money and much more. >> please state your name at the tone and i'll try to connect you. >> reporter: tisha lewis fox5 d.c. >> please hold. thank you. please wait while i try to correct you. >> you've reached george. due to our summer program i'll be out of the country. please leave me a detailed message. >> reporter: there was no answer when fox5 called senior grad trips. we've been trying to reach them since wednesday. lena
school in chantilly says the company scammed her and 21 other seniors out of $1,300 each. >> never gave out confirmation or anything. at that time i asked him when can i see the plane tickets when can i see the confirmations and he said i have the plane tickets i don't want to give them to you so you give them to your group and then the flight changes. >> reporter: the 17-year-old lena says that was the last time she heard back from george with senior grad trips. her mother even got involved. she sent us these texts asking about the student's tropical get away but there was no response. >> i planned this trip for nine months. i've known since my freshman year i'm going to the bahamas and now it's like what happens? i'm still waiting to get like a e-mail from them saying oh like by the way sorry we've been in cancun like here's your confirmation for stuff. >> reporter: 18 year old joey free is also wait something my reservations from the resort we were going to go to they got canceled and then we couldn't get in contact with the people at all the th
anything, so they still haven't called back to this point. >> reporter: free says the senior grad trips vacation was that scheduled for june 17th through the 24th. >> earlier today they were posting instagram of them with kids, like out on vacation with them. >> technically you can say it's june 18 you haven't heard anything from them they could still come through. the thing is is that we have multiple groups in different parts of the nation right now saying, oh, our trip was june 10. >> reporter: we did some digging and we discovered lena and joey aren't the only ones who feel scammed by senior grad trip.com. this ripoff report shows a complaint from students at a arizona school that says the web site collected $40,000 for a senior trip that reportedly never happened. they were left in the school's parking lot waiting for buses to show up and take them to the airport. the better business bureau says senior grad trips.com has a d rating which is the second lowest rating the
they also told fox5 the company goes by the name eb worldwide so be on the lookout. the better business bureau also gives this advice to avoid becoming a victim, use reputable web sites get details about your trip in writing and also use a credit card as payment for additional protection should something like this happen or go wrong. the students we spoke with say the last time they heard from senior grad trips.com was may 23rd. tisha lewis, fox5 local news. >> within the hour we have learned some new information on the condition of two d.c. police officers that were hurt in that hit-and-run last night in adams morgan. one is expected to be released from the hospital soon. the other is now in serious condition. a pickup truck drove right into them as the workers worked to clear a traffic jam on 18th street. fox5's paul wagner has the story. >> reporter: witnesses to the collision say one bicycle officer was near the driver's side of the front of the bus whil
yards up the street. >> pau, boom, hit him, ran over the bikes, flattened the bikes. drug him down the street. another ddot officer was standing over there. hit her, knocked her out. we ran over to help the officer. >> reporter: darien gray was working the door on the madam's organ when the crash occurred. how fast do you think they were going. >> at least 40 miles an hour, at least. >> reporter: d.c. police chief peter newsham says the driver of the metrobus sprinted toward the officers to render first aid and he praised the care that two received. >> i can tell you this. it's my opinion that the -- the metro employee, the d.c. fire department and the folks at the hospital saved a life last night. >> reporter: newsham says officers found an assault rifle inside of the pickup. officers also found a 100 round magazine drum but it's unclear if it was loaded with handle ath

story under oath. big weekend in d.c. some estimating hundreds of thousands of people will be out celebrating gay pride this weekend. >> fox5's lauren demarco joining us live from 14th street tonight with a look at what we can expect this weekend. hey, lauren. >> reporter: hey, jim, star a. it is a beautiful night out here and it is also a very colorful light. check this out. businesses, restaurants proudly displaying their rainbow flags for pride week and we are standing here at 14th and r streets northwest. this is where tomorrow's parade wraps up. it begins at 21st and p streets, then winds its way through dupont circle. there's about a mile and a half long route and then it ends here along the 14th street corridor. there will be plenty of celebrating but along with all of the partying there are some people who have come here to make sure their message is heard as well. we came across a small group of demonstrators protesting
supporting pride only as a pr stunt. that's only the beginning of it. >> we are inclusive. we want everyone here. we have high standards. >> there's a lot going on right now with the administration that i think a lot of people in the gay community are concerned about and i think it's important that we get together and raise our voices and make sure that those concerns are known. >> celebrating, you know, being lgbtq and the openness and freedom that comes with that so it seems like the right time to be here and really show up and represent. >> reporter: following the parade there will be a unity march on sunday, then the big street festival along pennsylvania avenue and the concert which this year features miley cyrus. there are no known threats but with massive crowds expected of course safety is top priority. police will be out in full full force. we asked d.c. police sheaff peter newsham and mayor muriel bowser about attacks in europe. have any changes been mad

that work. >> humidity. >> humidity, that's right. by sunday, that's what it's going to be. reminds me of that movie a streetcar named desire i think where it's just hot and everybody's sitting outside trying to stay cool. well, you know what we're going to have that heat. it's going to feel like august in the month of june. comfortable tonight though. overnight we'll see temperatures in the 60's, lots of sunshine this weekend, a few clouds here and there and the heat wave is actually going to really pump up by the time we get to sunday and the heat continues right through into midweek. highs today at all three airports in the low 80's. didn't do too badly. it was a little bit on the breezy side but i think it was a comfortable breeze out there and the humidity wasn't much of an issue. satellite and radar really not much to show you. ridge of high pressure in control. that is sliding its way out to the east. it's a bermuda high. that is opening the door though for our temperatures to really start to pump up. overnight lows tonight, 65 in the nation's capitol, 70 at
annapolis, 68 at quantico, 62 at manassas, 61 at martinsburg and the 62 degrees at winchester. so, we're looking at temperatures tomorrow in the low 90's. the lower end of the low 90's and i say that because by sunday we'll be at the upper end of the low 90's, close to mid 90's for daytime highs. plenty of sunshine. however, tomorrow and we're dealing with a couple of things. tonight we have a trough that's moving in and that could bring us a few more clouds tonight into the first part of tomorrow and then we'll see a short wave that could possibly spark an isolated form or even a shower or two, maybe a 10 to 20 percent chance of that happening but if it does it looks like it's going to be primarily near northern maryland hearts burg hagerstown you might have to teal with that but we'll watch that closely for you. sunday things heat up even more and that's when the humidity starts to kick in. here's a look at what we're expecting for sunday's u.v. index. it's going to be very high and if you're heading to the beaches it's a perfect way to stay cool. look at this. temperatures there into the 80's, plenty
