we'll have very comfortable temperatures in your forecast. erin. >> i like the sound of dr. construction 66 by falls church. a look at metro as we continue. >> 4:29 is the time. now back to that breaking news from the district. police say multiple people have been shot overnight in southeast. >> happened along southern avenue and that's where we find our melanie alnwick this morning who joins us live with the latest. what can you tell us, mel. >> reporter: good morning, guys. yeah, still a very active scene here, southern avenue shut down as they continue to investigate here. i want to just step out of the way and show you, you can see still a number of evidence markers there in the street. wcounted up to 50 at this point. crime scene investigators looks like they're starting to pick up some of the evidence markers. about 11:15 when the call came in, there were multiple shots here, multiple
it appears that the shots came from the street into the parking lot area. this is the southern avenue apartments and garden cooperative. it is an apartment complex in southeast d.c. there was ground of people gathered in the parking lot area and the shots came from the street into the parking lot area but from what we all understand as well, police don't have any information at this point to put out in public as far as whether there's a lookout or any suspects. not getting a lot of information at this point from witnesses but they're still actively working this case. live in southeast, i'm melanie alnwick fox5 local news. >> thanks mel. a major update on a story you saw first right here on fox5. maryland governor larry hogan is calling for a state investigation into allegations of fraud and corruption in prince george's county schools. now, this comes one week after fox5 broke the story
prince george's county school board members contacted hogan saying they have evidence that hundreds of opportunities have graduated without meeting state requirements. the claims allege that counselors and teachers were pressured to give passing grades to students who hadn't earned them. it's a charge prince george's county schools ceo dr. kevin maxwell has repeatedly denied including in public at last week's school board meeting. dr. maxwell has denied repeated requests for an interview with fox5 but last night gave us this statement "from the beginning i have maintained that politics lie at the root of these accusations. there has been no systemic effort to promote students who did not meet state graduation requirements in order to inflate our graduation rates. we look forward to collaborating with the maryland state depa department f education to resolve this matter ." dr. maxwell has the support of the majority of the board. they wrote their own letter blasting the grade inflation
fox5's latest reporting on on the governor calling for an investigation, the chair of the school board banks tweeted this, quote "what a shocker." fox5 continues to break new ground. coming upstate delegate jaywalker is going to join us live. he heads had the prince george's county delegation in the maryland general assembly. he will discuss concerns over a prior state investigation that was done on this same issue. >> ♪ >> we're following the late defendant developments in a deadly apartment building fire. on sunday man's body was that found in the are rubble. 200 people were forced out of their homes because of the fire. took crews nearly 12 hours to knock out that fire.
continues for a missing mom and her daughter. police say 25-year-old michelle manley and 21 month old daisy were last seen on june 15th but reported this past weekend. if you have seen them, you're asked to call police. >> new this morning, more questions about possible political interference in the hillary clinton e-mail scandal. the leaders of the senate judiciary committee. questions about lynch's role were raised during the committee's investigation into the circumstances surrounding president trump's firing of james comey. spokesman for lynch says she will that cooperate fully and respond directly to the senate judiciary. >> supreme court could issue an order on president trump's travel ban as early as this week. this is the final week of the current court session. the justice department is asking the supreme

gainsville manassas and centreville at speed. 70 down to the beltway keep in that mind metro said to be on time today starting at 5:00. i'll let you know if that changes. any questions at erin fox5 d.c. on twitter. back to you. >> ♪ >> police looking -- investigating multiple shootings this morning. >> this as several people were shot along southern avenue in southeast. melanie alnwick joins us live. she's on the scene and has the latest details. anything new, mel. >> reporter: good morning, guys t part of the reason went don't have an exact count here on the number of victims is from what i understand some of them are showing up at local hospitals rather than where everyone is transported and d.c. fire and ems would have an exact patient count so that's why things are somewhat in flux right now in terms of the victims but what we're hearing is anywhere from five to seven people shot is that it looks like police and crime scene investigators a
their investigation here. we saw as many as 60 now, more than 60 evidence markers that they were tagging, photographing, picking up. also taking a look at some of the cars that are parked along the street here, too, i think to check and see whether any of those were also hit by bullets. so, just a barrage of gunfire here from what we understand it came from the street into the parking lot here of these apartment homes and condos and that is where apparently a crowd of people were gathered anand that is where they were shot. not a lot of information at this point in terms of one shooters, two shooter, were they in a car, were they on foot. from what i understand just really not getting a lot of information from witnesses on the scene. they're trying to develop more information so they can get that out to the public but at least from what we do that understand none of the gunshot wounds at this point appear to be life-threatening put still a very serious situation here along southern avenue in southeast. i'm melanie alnwick, back to
