>> the services are not supposed to start for another half an hour, but already we see a lot of people showing up. we expect to see not only people who knew the man who was shot by a raleigh police officer, but the family who was crying foul and his death. these services come one day after a preliminary autopsy was released. that report says akiel denkins was shot four times in the chest , arms, and shoulder after the struggle with an officer who was trying to arrest him. that officer, d.c. twiddy, says that he was trying to pull a gun out of his waistband. this differs from neighbor accounts that said that denkins was shot while running away from the officer. it could take several weeks before we hear a conclusive report.

joining us live now is ed crump. ed: 27-year-old isaiah owens pleaded guilty to two counts of inflicting balance of the daily woman -- with a deadly weapon and voluntary manslaughter. it has a maximum of 12 years in prison. the crime happened in april of 2014 at the barbershop near downtown raleigh. two men, who were unintended targets, were shot in the dead. the intended target was shot and killed. prosecutors say the motive was revenge. that owens thought that the victim was responsible for his brother's death a few months earlier. the codefendant, sean jones, is in front of the judge now. we expect him to a plead

caitlin knute is being -- is live outside where the funeral is being held. caitlin: good afternoon. right now, they are getting ready to start the public viewing. a of cars showing up. we understand the family has already gathered inside. we have a video from early as the hearse and family members were arriving. if you have been following this story, the family maintains his death was unnecessary, citing witnesses who claimed he was shot in the back while running away. as a result, the family elicited the help of the naacp and local pastors. meanwhile, a preliminary autopsy has been released i the raleigh police department. that seems to support what the officer who shot him clean, which was that this shooting was done in self-defense when he reached for a gun in his

that was just a preliminary autopsy. we are waiting to see what the family and naacp supporters, up with. in the meantime, they urge the public to remain calm. that is something a good lie neighbors justice will be served. we do not need street justice. caitlin: we spoke with a representative from the church who said that we could go in for a little as the viewing is going on. we will share that video this evening. what they ask that when the service starts we leave out of respect for the family. they want today to be a day of mourning and respect with the family. it is a developing story that we are staying on top of. amber: thanks. happening now in cary, the first day of the conservative leadership conference.

amber: a 20-year-old man facing charges for stealing a cash box from a girl scout. police say the man smashed -- snatched the cash box out of her hand. an anonymous call identified the siblings. police have not recovered the money, but a local radio station pitched in to raise money for the trip, raising over $1000 in sales. john: a two-year-old needed help getting dressed, so she dialed the clothes on. the 2-year-old was with her grandparents at the time. her grandfather did not know she the call center. so a sheriff's deputy was sent to make a welfare check.
