tonigig here on miami beach. many police actually still out here just patrolling and keeping the peace. friday night and spring break turns into chaos. viewer video showed massive crowds of peoplelehat got out of hand. >> too many people out herere >> reporter: miami beach police say the large group of people startered gather on the sand but after sunset they spilled out on the ocean drive and small fights erupted. >> at first everything was under control but i guess some people got too rowdy. >> reporter: police forced the close down ocean drive between 7th and 10th street because of the largrg unruly crowd. handful of people around six to seven were arrested. cops say it never tururd into a riot. police also tweeting this picture of the spring breakers packed on to the beach. the fight messed with their spring break vibe.

>> reporter: justice finally prevailed. the couple won a civil lawsuit after a fununun home failed to properly prepare their baby's remains. >> i found out a week to two later that they had found the baby in gas station in a box. our baby. >> reporter: it's been about a year and a half since the disturbing discovery was ahead. pain of losing their newborn son is still raw. >> they told me the baby has died. >> reporter: with her baby's untimely death came theh unthinkable. an employee was supposed to retrieve the newborn's remains and prepare it for cremation but that didn't happen. if it wasn't for a homeless man rummaging through this dumpster
remains would never have been found. in north miami, the scene of the crime back in september of 2014, to box with the remains were stolen. >> i'm not sure about any kids or anything. >> reporter: the own of the funeral home son was lying. he was arrested but only charged with resisting arrest. a state probable cause found he committed negligence. the family was awarded $28 million. a bittersweet victory for the couple and their lawyer. >> we need to send a message to the funeral industry that this kind of behavavor should not be tolerated. >> reporter: it took the jury verdict. as for the funeral home, we owner's son. no one has returned our calls.
sharon lawson, nbc 6 news. a heavily tattooed gang member behind bars. he was arrested while out on probation. because he was out on probation police said they were able to search his house without a warrant. they found a semiautomatic rifle, handgun, 38 marijuana plants and narcotics. officials say the 33-year-old is a document blood gang member. two maryland policeceofficers are being awarded for their heroic actions that were caught on camera. the two officers pulled a man from a burning vehicle last september. it happened in montgomery county, maryland when the officers noticed the car. as smoke quickly filled the locked vehicle they unlocked the door and pulled out the driver. he was rushed to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. the officers were awarded the medal of honor.
