in his car tuesday night, in hudson. investigators say: he asked if she wanted to smoke pot, and when she said *no, and opened the door... he put a plastic bag over her head, to keep her from getting away. thankfully, she was able to escape. cheladyn may be driving a red hyundai... with florida tag number: b-p-s p-5-0. please call the pasco county sheriff's office if you've seen him, or know where he is. 3 3 (jen) new this morning: a bizarre tragedy in pinellas county... where a man was run-over and killed... by his own car. 3 (jen it happened in a parking lot wednesday afternoon... in indian shores. witnesses say: the 40-year-old man got out of the car, and started walking around... he appeared to be lost. then, he realized the car was rolling. he jumped into the driver's seat to try to stop it... but one of his feet was still outside the car... and got caught under the front wheel. the car kept rolling, and he was pulled under it and pinned. 3 (jen) bystanders tried to rescue him... using pieces of wood and a jack to try to lift the vehicle off of him... but it was too late.
"look at this! the whole family! are you kidding me?" --walter polk county sheriff grady judd has seen a lot of things in his long career... but this surprised him. he says: three brothers tortured and killed a man in lakeland... then called their *dad, asking for help getting rid of the body. 3 (walter) the sheriff says: it was a case of "vigilante justice"... that went way too far. (jen) and today, the family will answer to it, when they face a judge in bartow. 3 (jen according to the sheriff's office: the guys were seeking retribution for a female friend. in january, she reportedly told brian, anthony and nathan johnson... and their friend michael gunn... that she had been raped. she said: robert banks did it, after she smoked meth with him. well, sheriff judd says: the brothers called banks over to their house in lakeland, under the pretense of buying drugs from him. he says: they beat him with a pipe and sticks, strangled him with an electrical cord... violated him.... then burned his body. authorities say: they called their dad, brian
body in the green swamp. a couple later discovered it, but that wasn't the only clue. detectives say: the guys took pictures... and started bragging about it. 3 "that helps alot when you're going around showing pi't worry about robert anymore because we took care of him. he is dead." --jen/ now, investigators are saying: they're not sure banks actually battered the woman. his fiancee says: he wouldn't hurt anyone. the brothers are charged with first-degree murder... one of them is 17-years old. their father is being charged as an accessory. 3 (jen) turning to the presidential race: bernie sanders and hillary clinton aren't exactly best friends right now... (walter) something... or more accurately, *someone... actually united them. fox-13 political editor craig patrick reports. 3 "we had a fairly fiery
3 ((walter)) as craig just said... both democratice candidates are bringing their campaigns to the tampa bay area today... and it proves that the road to the white house, definitely includes the i-4 corridor. 3 ((walter fox-13's shayla reaves is at the ritz in ybor city, where hillary clinton will speak at noon today... and later, at the fairgrounds, it's bernie sanders... shayla: are tickets still available? 3 3 3 3 3 3
3 thanks, shayla. 3 3 ((jen)) now, to the republicans. a politician that dropped out of the race... is still making moves. former florida governor, and presidential hopeful, jeb bush... is meeting privately with all the remaining g-o-p candidates... *except donald trump. 3 ((jen he met with marco rubio wednesday. rubio's campaign is in defensive mode
*any primaries tuesday night, and he spent the yesterday rallying voters in south florida. it's not clear what the meeting with jeb bush was about, but experts say: if bush endorses anybody *but rubio... it would be a huge blow to the senator. today, bush will meet with john kasich and ted cruz. 3 ((jen texas senator ted cruz was the only one to beat donald trump, tuesday. he won *idaho... and wednesday, he picked-up more support... from former g-o-p candidate, carly fiorina. she gave him her endorsement for president. 3 ((jen together they are trying to unite republicans against the front-runner. but endorsements aside... trump is winning the hearts of voters... he won three of the four primaries tuesday night... and leads cruz by about 100 delegates. 3 ((jen)) the republican candidates will meet again today in miami... in their *12th g-o-p debate. this will be the last one, ahead of the florida primary next tuesday. four other states vote that day... including north carolina and ohio. 3 ((jen)) you know what they say: life is short, eat dessert first.((walter)) the three new treats that

with ice-cream-flavored coffees at dunkin' donuts. go for delicious flavors like butter pecan, cookie dough, or new pistachio. enjoy one today. america runs on dunkin'. 3 (jen) developing this morning: north korea is on the offense again. they fired two short-range ballistic missiles into the sea today... japan, which is within range of these missiles, lodged a protest with the north's embassy in beijing. but it's likely just a response to the u-s and south korea's joint war games, going on right now. it's an annual event, and the north usually responds by firing off something. the country thinks the training event is actually prep-work for an invasion. 3 (walter also developing this morning... a backyard party *ambushed in suburban pittsburgh... five people are dead. detectives say: the gunmen burst in and opened fire last night. the victims: four women and a man. the gunmen... are on the run... no word yet on the motive.... 3 (walter tests on a knife linked to o-j simpson's former
but a law enforcement official says: the knife is probably *not connected to the killings of simpson's ex-wife, and her friend, back in 19-94. the knife is reportedly a common garden tool... and too small to make the wounds that killed nicole brown simpson and ron goldberg. 3 (walter public viewings continue today: for former first lady, nancy reagan, at the ronald reagan presidential more than three-thousand people paid their respects tomorrow... and will be be buried on the library grounds, next to her husband. she passed away sunday, of heart failure. 3 five mini horses in south florida are happy to be back home after quite the adventure. the horses escaped their run in miramar yesterday. alongside the turnpike... in the middle of rush hour traffic. it took the highway patrol and several
3 no closed captioning is available for traffic. 3 3 3 good news for citrus growers... this year's projected crop has grown by 3- percent. that brings the total up to 71-million boxes. in comparison... florida produced nearly 97-million boxes last year. citrus greening has reduced production by more than 50- percent over the past decade. even with the higher estimates... this season is still on pace to be the worst in 5 decades. 3 (walter/and *here's some *sweet news. ben & jerry's have come out with new flavors... get your spoons, and bibs ready...
cheesecake... and coconuts for 3 caramel. yep, get ready for extra laps at the gym! these are the first new flavors since ben and jerry's announced their new *vegan line. 3 ((walter)) it's one of the 3 best beaches in the u-s... ((jen)) but you might want to avoid it right now. the sand that's "under renovation"... during spring break. 3 (jen and... a sunny place the new survey that puts tampa... among the most scandalous cities in the u-s! 3 at last night's winning lottery numbers... no winner in the powerball... it rolls-over to 60-million for saturday night. the lotto jackpot also rolled-over... it's 5:-- good luck, and good morning!
3 an alert for spring breakers... you
might need to change your sun, sand and surf plans. several beaches in sarasota county will close temporarily over the next two months... due to a massive restoration project. 3 ((walter)) this is a 21-and-a-half million dollar project meant to protect the beaches from erosion. and dredging begins today. 3 ((walter// the project will stretch over two miles... from the "sanderling beach club south" to "palmer point park." crews will start at turtle beach and move north... then go back to the middle and move south. work must end before may 1st... when the "sea turtle" nesting season
3 for *pasta lovers... "spaghetti warehouse" in ybor city... isn't gonna close after all. it was supposed to shut-down yesterday... overwhelmed by the response so they made a last minute another year! 3 (jen) 3 just a great place to *eat... and soak up the sun... getting "scandalous." (wally) yep... our area made the top five... on an eyebrow raising list... of "sin cities." 3 (walter the website "trulia"... which covers the housing and rental market... studied 150 american cities... and looked for signs of the "seven deadly sins"... you know: wrath, envy, gluttony, greed, lust, pride and sloth. but they defined those characteristics in certain ways: for instance, wrath is represented by violent crime numbers... for gluttony: it's binge drinking and smoking rates... and for pride, they looked at the number of tanning salons and plastic surgery offices.
(jen well, tampa finished fourth in the country... we're not greedy or lazy... but we are off the charts in the "lust" category... that's because of the high number of "adult entertainment establishments" we have here. one-and-a-half times more than the average city they studied. the hulk hogan trial probably bumps up our "racy" factor, too. 3 3 (jen) so what city is number one? new orleans! (walter) and get this... las vegas... which is *nicknamed "sin city"...
(donkey sound) (elephant sound) there's a big difference between making noise, (tapping sound) and making sense. (elephant sound) (donkey sound) when it

people from putting *mementos at gravesites. city leaders say the decorations are getting out of hand. well, that made grieving relatives *furious... and they quickly circulated and signed a petition to change the rules. city officials will discuss the ordinance, this afternoon. 3 3 (jen) in tallahassee today: governor rick scott could sign a new *abortion bill into law. and it could come with several new restrictions. 3 (jen/ the state senate passed the bill wednesday, largely along party lines. this bill prohibits state money for *any service by an organization that provides abortions. it will affect half a dozen clinics, including planned parenthood facilities. the bill also requires doctors who perform abortions have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital, and increases clinic inspection requirements and licensing fees. the bill mirrors legislation being challenged in court in other states. 3 (jen lawmakers in tallahassee also gave final approval to a bill *eliminating a 19th century law. it *banned unmarried men and women from living together. and breaking the law came with a fine and even jail time. the house
and the senate passed it's own version last week. sponsors say the old law was no longer made sense. it now heads to the governor's desk. 3 (wally) now to an officials with air france say: they found a *child, inside a carry-on bag.. during a flight. the airline says: an adult was traveling with the child, from istanbul to paris... and did *not pay for a ticket for the child. we're told the toddler is okay... and the plane landed safely in paris. 3 3 (walter a massive clean-up going on in seattle this morning following a massive natural gas explosion. the blast happened wednesday morning, smashing windows and tossing debris everywhere. one neighborhood looked like a disaster zone. the explosion was so strong it leveled two buildings... and shattered windows. 8 firefighters and a battlion chief were hurt in the blast... but not seriously. investigators are still trying to figure out exactly
from... but it has been ruled an accident. 3 3 (jen/ remember this guy? he's jeremy meeks... and he got the nickname "hot mugshot guy" after people noticed his arrest photo. women everywhere were talking about his dreamy eyes... and willing to overlook his criminal issues. well, after serving a couple of years behind bars in california, he's out... and ready to take on a new challenge: modeling. according to his agent, the phone's been ringing off the hook with offers from "top designers" willing to ignore his gang-related past. and just in case you're wondering ladies... he's married. 3 3 a substitute teacher is facing multiple charges... after the principal says she fell down drunk in front of a
3 the principal at bentley elemntary school says they noticed the teacher's behavior during a routine class check... telling police "holly ruble-joel" was swaying and closing her eyes. according to the report... when the principal asked her to stand up she fell and crashed into a window. the principals says "joel" didn't even know what day it was. they found a mixed drink in a water bottle-- along with perscription pills in her in shock. 3 a spokesperson tells us "joel" passed their background and criminal history check when she was hired... but we found she has a record in orange county... where she was convicted of a d-u-i in 20-12. "joel" is now charged with child neglect and public
has been fired. 3 3 (jen) ladies and gentlemen, get ready to rev your engines... 3 reading... writing... 'rithmetic... teachers know how to cover the three r's...((walter)) but one teacher is teaching her students, and everyone, a big "g"... for generosity. what she was willing to do for one of her students... get the tissues... this one's gonna make you cry. 3 3 the bigger the burrito, the bigger the fun. dunkin's new grandde burrito

3 laura/ natasha lives with her grandparents.. so she can be close to the children's hospital for treatment.. she goes there three times a week for dialysis. mrs. schmidt says she is inspired by natasha's love of life.. and optimism.. and that's what prompted her to see if her kidney would be a match. she says watching natasha's grandmother get the news.. was the best moment of her life. 3 if natasha clears-up from her latest infection by march 21-st.. the transplant will happen shortly after. natasha doesn't understand the specifics.. but understands mrs. schmidt is doing something really cool..that
we all know 3 we all know what spring break means.... lots and lots of tourists. but this year we can expect to be even more crowded than usual... t-s-a officials expect tampa to get a 4-point-5 percent increase in spring breaker travelers this month. that means more than 33-thousand passengers will be coming into tamap international every single day! and it's no
flooding in... expedia says tampa bay is one of the top 5 destinations for spring break. 3 so we know that tampa bay is the place to be for spring break... but what about saint patrick's day? according to wallet-hub... tampa is the 6th best place in the country to celebrate the holiday. they ranked 100 cities based on traditions, costs, safety, and weather. so what brought tampa to the top of the list? we have a lot of irish pubs and restaurants...the second most per capita of any city in the u-s. 5 years ago... mayor buckhorn announced the city's first river o' green festival. that returns to curtis hixon park on march 19th at 10-30 a-m. 3 3
started with a bang for the bucs!and not a flashy *new name, but by re-signing the star in their own backfield. running back doug martin is on board for another 5-years... the bucs *also looking for a replacement to logan mankins, went out and signed guard jr swezey, from seattle, to another 5 year deal.both contracts are worth upwards of 30 million... martins deal is just over 35, with 15 of it guaranteed... it has a potential max value of over 42 million if he hits all the incentives. but the bigger story here is the bucs were able to keep their own - and at a *fair value. keeping the key pieces of this growing offense together for years to come.on the eve of the opening round of the valspar championship at innisbrook... the tourney happily announced that the pga tour stop will remain in the area for atleast 3 more years as an extension with valspar, their title sponsor has been reached locking them in through at least 2020.and plenty of excitement going into tomorrow with the return of the defending champ and world number-1 jordan spieth. his win at innisbrook last year was a thriller... he, patrick reed and sean o'hair battled it out in a playoff... spieth's victory helped spring board a historic run that led to a masters and us open championship. spieth says this course is perfect for setting the table for the majors ahead. frankly the rest of the lineup, not much better today...how about chris archer in his 2nd start?.. some ups and downs...rings up casey kotchman... but struggled a bit with his control too... this pitch gets loose and the blue jays, ryan goins scores, 1-0 toronto.next batter, uh oh... another one..archer goes 2-and a third innings... 2 earned runs... 2 walks...he also had 3 strikeouts... rays lose 5-1...
