we feared it would happen eventually. the bay area now has its first ?locally transmitted case virus. and its in pinellas county. officials across the county are now taking extra precautions.. including area schools. fox 13's shayla reaves joins us live from pinellas county, with more on that.

drag the girl out of the store while her mother held on for dear life. we've now learned that man is ?not competent to stand trial. 30-year-old craig bonello underwent a mental evaluation right after the incident. he's been ordered to go to a mental health facility. ((walter/ down in miami: power is finally restored for about ten ?thousand homes. the outtage was caused by a massive transformer fire. the fire broke out at the florida power and light facility in west miami-dade. it sent flames and thick, black smoke into the air.. which could be seen for miles.. the smoke forced planes to be diverted from one of the runways at nearby miami international airport. no injuries were reported from the fire... and they're still looking into the cause. students at florida southern college in lakeland have returned to campus. and this semester's class... is its ?biggest yet. there are more than two ?thousand undergraduate students at the private college this year. that is

enrollment in the school' s 133 year history. there's a new housing option this year to help accomodate the students. the college is also offering a new major in biotechnology with a concentration in cyber security. and another polk college is breaking ground on a new facility. florida polytechnic in lakeland is getting a state of the art wellness and aquatics center. the facility will be shaped like a phoenix... which is the florida poly mascot. outside of teaching the students about better health.... the center will also test new technologies for physical training. get ready for more fun in the sky, from disney world. the company just filed a patent for a new drone-like device. the title of the patent is "air delivered special effects." according to the plans, the device could fly in the air and send out effects like lighting, fireworks, even fake snow. it could be done with a remote control, or automatically. disney says it's been developing devices like this to give more parkgoers a better view of

another group of pets from the flood-ravaged area of louisiana... will soon be up for adoption here in the bay area. a van full of dogs and cats arrived at englewood animal rescue late last night in sarasota. 20 dogs made their way to florida by van. and the group has already taken in a batch of 14 dogs and cats. thousands of people have been left homeless in lousiana from the flooding and pets are being abandoned or given up to animal shelters. no word yet on when the dogs and cats will be ready for adoption animal shelter is also seeking donations to care for them. they ?are a no kill shelter. another reminder to boaters... to ?watch where you wake. fish and wildlife officials came to the aid of an injured manatee tuesday afternoon. they were called out to rivieria bay in st. pete... after a boater spotted the 715-pounder.. struggling with fresh wounds across his back. it appears the manatee was hit by a boat or some other watercraft. he was taken

and in manatee county.. a little boy is being called a hero, after he saved three baby loggerhead turtles. the group "wildlife inc" out of bradenton posted these pictures this week. the little boy spotted the 3 hatchlings trapped in a storm drain. a worker and two wildlife officers removed the grate and scooped up the turtles. and another hatchling was found across the street. the animal rescue will now take care of them... and hopefully get them ?back in the wild.

glover" joined in as well. and the girls also found time last night, to take in a showing... of "hamilton: the musicial." they also got to meet the cast. chick fil-a customers have been getting fired-up over a big menu change. late last month, the chain ?removed its "spicy chicken biscuit." they decided to replace it on the breakfast menu, with the new healthier option... the egg white grill." but fans of that biscuit did not take the change well. and now... the chain may be forced to bring it ?back. that's because customers have started posting ?thousands of complaints on the company's facebook page. some die-hard customer are even going as far as threatening to boycott the chain until they bring the sandwich back. ironically, the company says they replaced the spicy biscuit because it was ?not a big seller. they say it was less than one
