boating. over the bay at the johns hopkins hospital cam. a couple of clouds, light winds. the wave height in check. great view over lakeland. but lakeland across the interior, you will be one of the locations with the best rain chance this afternoon and evening. skytower is nice and quiet with the light winds. we will shift the storm coverage inland late today. the further north you live, we may squeeze out a coastal shower in citrus county but we don't have a big push of wind in the atmosphere. temperatures are in the mid-to-upper 70s. a few low 70s. bartow, 73. 77 in venice. 78 in tem pa and st. petersburg. satellite and rail dar combined showed very active yesterday and saturday night across the inland areas but we're still hanging on to remnants of tropical moisture. so while we are quiet this morning that is not to say as the afternoon ends we'll bring in a 40-50% rain chance.
air will fling around. the backside of hermine, which is no longer tropical. but still going to pack a big punch from the midat lan tic to the northeast -- midatlantic and to the northeast. no longer tropical in nature but it doesn't matter. big-time tropical impacts we'll discuss throughout the show. upper 80s for highs and more heat and more sun. any rain that gets going. the content of moisture could produce localized heavy rains. i'll be tracking the level of the anclote river near elfers. that's coming up. >> alcides: clearwater police and fire rescue respond to deadly crash overnight at sky harbor drive and golf to bay boulevard. that's east of clearwater mall. police say the motorcyclist and the van collided. the motorcyclist was taken to a bay front health where he later died. the driver of the van was treated at the scene. the crash is still under investigation. also new this morning we are
working on a utility pole in pasco county. it happened before 9:00 last night. officials say 30-year-old man was working on the 7000 block of fox wood drive when his shoulders made contact with the live wire while climbing that pole. fellow utility workers use the victim's safety belt to lower him to the ground. he was flown to tampa general hospital where he is in critical condition. no word on how he is currently doing right now. developing this morning of fishing turns tragic for a family in polk county. crews are searching for an 18-year-old who disappeared in peace river. it happened at the river's canoe launch and the boat ramp off state road 60. deputies say austin welch was fishing with his sister when she fell in. him and his mother both jumped in. the two females were able to make it out but austin never resurfaced. the sheriff's office is working with fish and wildlife
danger is still real for families along the anclote river. families are being evacuated as the river is expected to rise. it is expected to peak this afternoon. some people in the neighborhood say they are not leaving because they are worried about looters. some part of the neighborhood gotten feet of water since the rain started. saturday, first responders went door to door by boat moving people to higher ground. some went to shelters. mandatory evacuations. >> they're awesome. they are so awesome. it's so nice to know there are nice people like that. >> alcides: the red cross is helping people at the shelter in hudson but they say they cannot deliver food to elfers because they cannot encourage people under an evacuation order to stay. the clean-up is still underway for many parts of the bay
storm. make sure you run your portable gas generators outside. they produce high levels of carbon monoxide which can have deadly consequences if you move them indoors. also, use caution burning candles and check your appliances for water damage. another big concern in the aftermath of the flooding, critters coming to surface. alligators, snakes, roaches are all realities when it comes to flooding. they come out looking for dry ground. officials say something like an alligator, find a good trapper. donald trump makes his pitch to minorities while visiting a church in detroit. this as we learn new information on what hillary clinton told the f.b.i. about her private female server. peter doocy has more. >> reporter: addressing a largely african-american audience for the first time as

loud explosion. >> reporter: part of neighboring virginia also feeling the effects of hermine. thousands of homeowners waking up to downed trees and major power outages. one thing is for sure. residents are looking forward to a quieter second half of the labor day holiday weekend. >> it will be nice. i will pass. great weather after hurricanes. >> as hermine continues north, severe weather warnings are now in effect in coastal areas from virginia all the way up to connecticut. in the outer banks carolina, joel waldman, fox news. >> alcides: it's hard to believe that hermine is gone but yet we are still feeling effects in pasco county. >> lindsay: yeah. pasco county, the river, we are watching the anclote river near elfers. it's so close to flood stage -- so close to cresting, it's in major flood stage. i will talk about that and the levels there coming up. i want to show you where hermine is. it's a holiday weekend. it's not a holiday weekend where people are going to be
even at the beach. we have this impressive area of low pressure just spinning. and moving northward throughout the region. so with this, satellte and radar picture showing most of the rain. it will stay offshore. the energy, that wind feel, the on-shore flow will persist for several days this week in this area. friends and family who had plans to go to the jersey shore will hopefully cancel the plans as there is a tropical storm warning in place. wave heights building extreme from carolina where they had impact yesterday to upward of 12 feet offshore of the jersey shoreline. cape c.o.d. -- cape cod and the middle of the week from the rough surge. now hermine is post-tropical, it no longer has a tropical connection it will still bring tropical impact to the region. 65-mile-per-hour winds. hurricane is 74-mile-per-hour. while moving east/northeast at 12 it will slow down and get hung up. here is monday.
not much movement. by thursday getting to sea and weakening but a couple of days this week with the wave impacts there. locally today if you have plans to head to the beach or get outside this morning looks good. the seas are less angry for sure. but the water is not worth getting in. we have bacteria issues which we have discussed. the skytower radar is quiet. can't rule out coastal shower. not much. we don't have a big push of wind but we have shore wind to push the bulk of the storms inland. a little pattern change today. the heating will help the rain build. 75 in west chase. did a city, good morning. 75. newport richie, not raining for you now. we will talk about the anclote river momentarily. 74 in venice. i have low 70s from lake lakeland. we have residual tropical moisture. tampa points westward. this will sling in throughout
that will increase the rain chances to 50% north of tampa. about 40% here in tampa. then 30% near the coast south of the by a. these will be colliding inland throughout the afternoon. as we look at the anclote river near elfers, the latest update i have shows the current river height is at 24.89 feet. the crest close to it a little above 25 feet. to put it in perspective, similar to what happened when the river crested now, slowly dropping below that major flood stage early in the week but not before flood stage at all until wednesday morning so we have a couple more days of big-time flooding in pasco county. the future cast today, lunchtime is quiet. with the heating here comes the shower and the storms. very heavy. we will watch them as they shift inland and south. for labor day we flip-flop the winds and bring storms back west toward the beach late in the day. pattern change this weekend. sky tower radar it's seen a

offshore. it should fall apart with the afternoon rain shifting inland. mid-to-upper 70s out the door. tropical feel to the air because of the moisture still around. so with that to the west, with heating of the day. it will bring in 40 to 50% rain chance and it will favor areas north and inland. so any heavy rain could mean for flooding. i do think the rain chances returning closer to normal for the time of year today. hermine no longer tropical but it's approaching what will be hurricane stren tomorrow. have the latest advisory and we'll talk big waves in the midatlantic and northeast. for us, the wave heights are dropping. the rain chances are up on labor day but they are favoring the west coast opposed to the inland areas. by tuesday, how about that? drier air on the back side of hermine pulls into the northern counties. lowering the clanses for a good -- lowering the rain chances for a chunk of midweek. >> alcides: thank you. a day at the fair turns scary

daniel heinrich told police where to find the boy's body. he was reportedly abducted by gunpoint near his home in 1989 in minnesota. heinrich became a person of interest after his arrest last year on child pornography charges. the political crisis in venezuela sparks protest in chile. hundreds of people march through the streets of santiago on saturday. they called for restoration of release of political prisoners. this comes after massive protest in caracas where millions of people took to the streets calling for a recall election. we officially have a new saint. 19 years after her death. mother teresa has officially been cannonnized by the pope. thousands of people packed st. peters square to witness the ceremony. it was amazing. in the 40-minute ceremony pope
