least one tampa man ended up losing ?hundreds of dollars. "frank ingo" says his phone rang friday, and the caller id said "teco." the person on the other end told frank he owed about 15-hundred- dollars... and if he didn't pay up... his power would be turned off. electricity is ?crucial for frank... because his mother is currently in hospice care in his home. and his mom was the first thing he thought about: frank says the scammers did small things to make them sound more legitimate... for instance, they made up an elaborate excuse as to ?why his automatic payments were no longer working. they even had someone posing as a supervisor ready to talk to him. teco says between 10 to 15 customers have heard from these scammers. the company reminds customers: teco will ?never ask for credit card or debit card numbers over the phone. if

directly. today in tampa: the hillsborough county commission is holding a public hearing on the plan to add a new "animal abuser registry" it would work just like a sex offender registry... offenders would be required to register, or face fines. and the list would go online, so animal adoption agencies and the public can acccess it. the database would also include the offender's address, so neighbors will know who if they live next to an animal abuser. the hearing is this morning at ten at the county cte an update out of palm bay... where a helicopter crash killed three people on tuesday. records show the helicopter's "pitch control system" was recently repaired... and the pilot was testing those repairs when it crashed. video shows the pilot making low turns and other maneuvers about one-hundred feet off the ground. seconds later.... it descended quickly and exploded. the n-t-s-b is investigating... and say it

killed have not been released. american airlines is now the ?second u-s airline to resume commerical service to cuba. the flight got a celebratory water salute before taking off wednesday from miami. the new aviation agreement will allow up to 110 commercial flights a day between the two countries. ten u-s based airlines have now been approved for scheduled service to the island. jetblue made the ?first historic roundtrip flight in more than fifty years, last week. remember when swing sets and monkey bars were all the rage? getting a lot more high-tech these days. and some tampa kids are finding that out this week. the "neos 3-60" was installed this week at perry harvey senior park off north orange street in downtown tampa. it combines technology and aerobic exercise. like a video game -- kids choose from eight activities.. at the sound of music, they run around pressing flashing buttons..trying to get the most points before their time

playground. they added a similar game to curtis hixon park a few years ago. they hope to bring one to julian lane park in the future. high tide, heavy rain and strong wind from hurricane hermine did a lot of damage to bay area beaches the past week. and it's also making it difficult for baby sea turtles. hermine washed away many stakes that lay out where nests are along the beaches. on anna maria island 80 nests are still visible, but researchers believe th close to 142 still buried. that doesn't mean every nest is destroyed. the turtles could still hatch very soon.. and the sea turtle watch is asking visitors to be mindful. turtle nesting season officially ends october 31st. but the "sea turtle watch" will have volunteers checking the beaches until mid

looking for a great bargain? you can find one today in tampa. it's an estate sale... right next to tampa international airport. the home is in the five thousand block of north hesperides street. and it's literally right next door to the airport. the family has actually lived there since the 1950s... when the airport ?used to be called "drew field." over the years the family members have moved on or passed away... and now, it's time to move out of the house for good. behind quite the treasure trove though. two brothers who lived there for about three decades were huge race cars fans. much of their car collection remains... including hundreds of collectable diecast cars.? there's also 20 huge cargo containers filled with antiques. some dating back to the 18 hundreds. the estate sale runs from eight a- m to five p-m today... through sunday. the hillsborough county sheriffs office will be there, to help deal with the
