rescue divers had to recover the bodies of 2 men from inside the depths of the eagles nest dive area. that's in weeki wachie. the deep underwater cave system is what brought a trio of friends from out of town over the weekend. patrick peacock...and chris rittenmeyer both had extensive cave diving experience. a while the other two made their way down... but they never came back up. after 4 hours... their friend called for help. but rescue divers couldn't find the men until early yesterday morning. they recovered their bodies ... 260 feet below the surface. what went wrong still isn't clear. at least half a dozen other people have also died in that same cave.
accused of trying to kill george zimmerman... gets 20 years in prison. once again... the court system sided with the former neigborhood watchman. and it turns out... the courtroom where yesterday's sentencing took place... was the same one where zimmerman was acquitted 3 years ago. zimmerman was found not guilty in the shooting death of trayvon martin. now 3 years later he's on the other side of the courtroom. during apperson's appeal... zimmerman went before the judge asking her to keep him behind bars. he says being back in courtroom 5-d was strange. meanwhile-- the judge ordered apperson to be held in jail during the appeals process. first, it was goodwill.. now.. one of the biggest retail chains in the country is getting rid of clowns.. fox 13's shayla reaves joins us now from target.. shayla - it's a sad day for clowns.. but clearly these
it's the last thing driv gas prices. and while prices have gone down in most ?other parts of the country... here in florida... it's been quite the opposite. hurricane matthew is partly to blame. according to triple a... the storm disrupted our supply chain. that caused prices to jump 11- cents in about two weeks... here in tampa... prices jumped more than 8-cents. the average price for a gallon of gas is now two-dollars and 19-cents. that's still less than the national average... which is 2-dollars
if the increase is not due to price gouging.. because it hasn't been dramatic enough. the stage is set for the third and final presidential debate! in just one day... hillary clinton and donald trump will go head-to-head at the university of nevada. but for now... the candidates' campaigns are in damage-control mode. newly released documents reveal one of hillary clinton's aides tried to influence the f-b-i's handling of her e-mail scandal. meanwhile, donald trump's wife, melania, came to his defense. surprisingly, she echoed her husband. in an interview with c-n-n's anderson cooper... melania trump said the allegations about her husband's sexual misconduct are absolutely false. and that his accusers are working for the clinton camp... and so is the media! as for the videotape... melania said she was "surprised" because that's not the man she knows. she called it "boy talk"... and actually blamed billy bush for
fraud... tweeting that it's happening on a large scale. f-b-i documents released yesterday show a senior state department official asked the f-b-i to change the classification of an e-mail from clinton's private server last year... the e-mail was about the 20-12 attacks on the u-s embassy in benghazi. according to an f-b-i agent... the official offered a "quid pro quo": in exchange for down-classifying the email, the bureau would get coveted slots for agents overseas. the f-b-i rejected the request. changing the email's classifcation would have allowed the state department to archive the message... so that the public wouldn't be able to see it. should be a lively debate tomorrow night! it's the final presidential debate... it starts at 9 p-m... and is scheduled to last 90 minutes. fox news anchor chris wallace will moderate. you can watch it right here on fox13. the last day to register to vote is today! the deadline was extended by one week throughout the state of florida... after democrats won an extension from a judge because of hurricane matthew.
