in sarasota and around the state we're one of the coolest readings in brooksville. 24 hours ago most of us a couple degrees cooler and we're just as dry. that dry air in the med level and all that red will make a lot of sun. with that sunshine a slight northeast wind shift will bring back the upper 70s for highs. less breezy today and a gorgeous day. enjoy it because some warmth is back on the seven-day. i have it forou >> anjuli: after one of their own was hit and killed on i-75 this month, a group of local tow truck drivers are holding a memorial today for one of their own. k kellie cowan is live where the memorial will begin. good morning. >> kellie: good morning. we expect tow trucks across the bay area to begin meeting here in a few hours. we're just outside of east bay high school. they gather around 10:30 this
procession down i-75 south where they pass the site where two weeks ago one of their own was killed in the line of duty while he was assisting florida highway patrol on the side of i-75. it all happened just after 4:00 a.m. on october 9th. troy mcguire was helping fhp move cars stopped for ellily drag racing. mcguire was standing in the shoulder of the highway when a 2017 honda ridgeline driven mcguire died at the sean, and authorities say miller was driving drunk and he was arrested and faces dui manslaughter charges. now, the procession will begin just a little after 1:00 today. as they head down i-75, they will flash their lights and you see a long line of just dozens of tow trucks. they hope that anybody that sees them today will be reminded of
officers and law enforcement and tow truck drivers assist vehicles on the side of the road, it is the law to move over if you can safely do so, and, of course, reduce speed. we've seen far too many accidents this year, guys. >> anjuli: thank you so much, ke kellie. new this morning pinellas county deputies arrested a driver and passenger after causing a two-car accident in parm harbor. seen driving recklessly on 219. a deputy tried to pull him over, but he continued to weave in and out of traffic before crashing into the back of a pickup truck. deputies then arrested lockenor and his passenger, 20-year-old kyle smith. deputies say inside lockenor's car was smith's .45 caliber handgun and drugs. lockenor is facing multiple charges including driving way suspended license and possession of a controlled substance.
felon in possession of a firearm. >> alcides: we have learned the name this morning of the second person killed in a bad crash on the veterans spres way. it's 33-year-old carlos perez of tampa. this is video of the bad crash taken by connie oliver. troopers say just before 2:30 saturday morning anwar askar hit another car and rear-ended it. car's driver and passenger were both killed. askar was charged with dui. he's taken to the hospital where he remains with serious injuries. fox 13 actually spoke with askar last month. we interviewed him about the recall of the samsung galaxy note 7. he'll be booked in jail once released from the hospital. >> anjuli: he writes tickets for family, friends and fellow
one he wrote to himself. officer tim glover oversees the red light camera program. he was reviewing camera footage recently when he noticed a marked patrol car running a red light. zeroed in on that unit number and realized it was his own car. technically, he can't write himself a ticket. a fellow officer wrote the $158 fine. glover said he was on his way to lunch, and that was the most expensive cuban sandwich >> alcides: that's an honest officer for sure. in the race for the white house, tim kaine will stump for hillary clinton in florida and donald trump is going fob in the sunshine state following a rousing speech in gettyingburg. he doubled-down on thiz claim the system is rigged and vowing to after every woman that a accused him of sexual assault. this is a time where hillary clinton's campaign habs hit with

since march 22nd. so we have to go back to march since it hasn't felt this cool. 54 is the lo low in tampa and ion brandon in the 40s this morning. pinellas county milder with the bay influence, but lighter winds around the bay today provide i think better boating conditions overall. 53 in brookdale bay slor and the skies are clear. the die air mass moderates, though, if you don't like the cooler weather by the afternoon, it's a white caps thankses to gusty northwest winds. today's winds are more northeast and lighteder and a bit breezy and 62 #. temperatures range from 45 in brooksville to 50 in lakeland and it's 57 in sebring and 57 in tampa and mid-60s from st. pete down to bradenton you're at 57 degrees. around the state temperatures north of tampa are colder. 41 in tallahassee.
around the southeast, we know if it's cool here, it's obviously cooler north. 45 is the current temperature in atlanta and 41 in nashville. some frosty conditions for higher terrain. it's so comfortable and that's the best part of the weekend, right? dew point haves tumbled into the hos behind a cold front on friday. the dew points are in the 30s and 40s as well. it's nice and crisp and clear thanks to high pressure. it will slide to the east and so those wind by mid-week it will bring back the seasonable feel to the area. perfect fall day today. we hit 72 for the afternoon high, below average and a little warmer than yesterday. low temperatures are on the upswing in the days ahead. as we go through the day today, if we could remove that bar, 59 is the current low as we head into the overnight hours sunday into monday, and then as we head into the middle part of the week, there's the seasonable air returning, which is still pretty nice. mid-60s are normal.

at the heart-strings of every pet owner.. maverick the golden retriever, >> alcides: this is tug at the heart strings of every orange. maveck easiest life. >> he was abandoned as a little puppy in the woods and left in the shelter. thankfully they met him in time and choose to adopt him despite the rough start. the couple has had maverick for more than aide years, and he's like their little baby. maverick is suffering from a second bout of cancer, and last week his doctors said this was the end of the road for him. rather than crying and wallowing in sadness, joey was determined
