(jen/ nearly 700-thousand people in tampa bay have mailed their ballots to their elections supervisors. but a few aren't being counted, and it's the voters fault. every ballot has to be signed by the voter, and thousands of them come in with either no signature or one that doesn't match the one on file. and time is dwindling for those voters to be heard. (jen/take 671-thousand have cast ballots by mail in the bay-area. of those, 14- hundred-21 have a questionable signature.822 have no signature at all. that means point-.33 percent... some 22-hundred voters... will have their ballots set aside. an affidavit will be sent to them all, and those have to be filled out and returned by 5 on monday in order for their vote to count. and so far in this
early is just about even. so just 22-hundred votes ?can? make a difference. this is florida, where only 537 votes gave the presidency to george bush. several counties tell us they have gotten the proper affidavits back from voters to record their votes. pinellas has received verification on about half... hernando has fixed nearly all of them. commuters officially have a new way to travel across tampa bay this morning. the cross bay ferry took its maiden voyage tuesday.. with community leaders on board. but today... it's open to the public. the ferry goes from st. pete's vinoy basin.. to downtown tampa. it's about a 50 minute trek across the bay. tickets are 10- dollars one-way for adults... and 8-dollars for kids under 12. kids 3 and under can ride for free. big news this morning from port tampa bay... carnival cruise lines is adding a second.. year round ship: "the carnival miracle!"
