we're following a developing story out of sanibel this morning. someone shot an officer during a traffic stop. it happened around 8 last night. according to police, the officer was conducting a stop, when someone opened fire. the gunman then took off, but was later found in a nearby into custody after a shootout with police. the officer was taken to lee memorial hospital, where he was treated then released. the motive for the shooting is still under investigation. and in st. louis: the search is on for the person who shot a police officer there. according to the st. louis police chief.... the sergeant was shot during what is being called an ambush style attack. it happened last night. the chief says the officer was ?not involved in a call or a traffic stop. he was sitting at a stop

shot twice in the face. he is currently in critical condition, but is expected to survive. and in san antonio, texas... authorities there are looking for the person responsible for shooting and killing a police officer. the incident happened in the middle of the day right outside san antonio police headquarters. according to the police chief, 50-year-old "benjamin marconi" had pulled someone over. he was in the middle of writing a ticket, when another car pulled up behind his patrol car. the man in that car walked got out of his car, walked window and opened fire, hitting detective marconi in the head. they believe the shooter was ?not related to the person getting a ticket. the shooter then sped away through the police headquarters parking lot. san antonio officials call the shooting senseless. the police chief says

if this shooting could be related to another officer-involved shooting from earlier sunday. where police shot and killed a man who pointed a gun at them after a seven-hour standoff. new this morning: pinellas county sheriff's office is on the scene of an accident where a car has hit a pedestrian. it happened just before 7 o-clock last night on bay pines road, just west of the intersection of 100th way and bay pines boulevard... that's in seminole. deputies say a driver was going west when she hit 59-year-old "joseph puccio". he was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuri. time of the crash. speed or alcohol does ?not appear to be a factor. this morning we have a better idea just how close the presidential election was across the state of florida. official returns came in from the county canvassing boards yesterday. in the race for president, "donald trump" won by 113-thousand votes. he and "mike pence" got just over 49-percent of the votes in florida.

"gary johnson" and "bill weld" came in third with 207-thousand votes, or 2-point-2 percent of the vote. thanksgiving is right around the corner. and one bay area high school band is getting ready for a very big gig. the macy's thanksgiving day parade! fox13's "shayla reaves" joins us now with more on their journey. good morning! the students have been preparing for, we're just days away from the big performance. cameras rolled as newsome high school students left for new york around 2 o'clock in the morning. the 172 band members on board spent mornings...nights and weekends preparing for the 2 and a half mile walk coming up thursday. newsome high school students learned about their selection last year...and we're told they raised 350-thousand dollars for the trip. the nationally televised parade airs thursday morning. the band is scheduled to perform three songs including "you are my sunshine." thanks, shayla. (walter - president-elect donald trump says new jersey governor chris christie is a very talented man, but stopped short of saying whether there is a place for him in his administration. christie was one of a parade of officials visiting trump sunday at his new jersey golf club. former new york city mayor rudy giuliani and kansas secretary of state kris koback also had meetings with trump sunday. perry will meet with the president-elect today. word is they'll discuss the role of secretary of defense. when cabinet position are made, you can count on good day tampa bay and fox 13 news dot com to update you. it was the big story over the weekend. vice-president-elect "mike pence" was booed during a performance of the hit broadway show "hamilton". not only was he booed the cast also had a public message for him after the show. while his running mate led a public outcry against the cast... even damanding an apology. pence, addressed the controversy head on during

president-elect trump took to twitter sunday morning to voice his displeasure over the skit. he tweeted out: "i watched parts of saturday night live last night. it is a totally one- sided, biased show - nothing funny at all. equal time for us?" so far no response from s-n-l or n-b-c. a hefty achievement for a bay area student. scholar. "christian nattiel" gradudated from boca ciega high and is now a senior at west point. he is ?double majoring in mathematical sciences and philophosphy. nattiel joins 31 other american students getting the honor this year. he will get a scholarship to oxford university in england, worth about 68 ?thousand dollars for up to three years. all the pieces fell into place for the tampa bay buccaneers.. the bucs marched into kansas city as

easy.. considering the chiefs' defense... but the bucs relied on four field goals by rookie, roberto aguayo to build a 12-ten lead.. and then an interception.. and a touchdown pass from jameis winston, sealed the deal. the final score.. 19 - 17. after the game, several players said a letter written to them by winston, really resonated with them.. week, winston typed out a letter to each of his teammates.. and told them how grateful he is to be their quarterback.. next sunday - the bucs face another tough test against the seattle seahawks..

grandson. police say "javon wilson" was shot in his home friday night while arguing with another teenager over basketball shoes. davis says his grandson had recently become a good student, community activists say the street violence starts at home. both of the teens that wilson was arguing with could face first degree murder charges. a very happy reunion for a 93-year-old world war two veteran and his dog. "roger leclair" was reunited with his one-and-a-half pound teacup chihuahua, lola over the weekend. according to a neighbor, a woman drove up and snatched lola from leclair's frontyard back on november 9th. after posting signs and even offering a reward, a

when a driver entered his path going north on south hyde park avenue. the airbags in both cars went off. the driver was not hurt. the officer was taken to t-g-h for treatment for minor injuries. pinellas park police are still trying to figure out who killed a man whose body was found by a dumpster saturday night. police say 38- year-old "will joe hodges" was found by two people collecting cardboard behind the shoppes at park place. we'er told hodges was homeless and died from blunt force trauma. but police still haven't said ?how exactly he died and if they have any suspects. new hogfish rules will go into place next year in the florida keys. starting january first, fishing for hogfish will be limited to taking one hogfish per day during the six-month season. florida fish and wildlife says the move is aimed at curtailing harvest of south florida hogfish, a popular delicacy. under the new rules, all hogfish in the keys a considered a population at

estimates are wrong and the rules should be revised. there are things synonymous with thanksgiving day... turkey... pie... the dog show... and of course, the macy's thanksgiving day parade. now one bay area high school is getting the chance of a lifetime. newsome high school's band has been invited to play at the macy's thanksgiving day parade in new york city! fox13's "shayla reaves" joins us now with more on their journey. shayla, they're the first band from hillsborough county to ever perform in the parade?! not only perform, but the first hillsborough county high school marching band to receive an invitation. this is information coming from the hillsborough county board of commissioners... today, our cameras rolled as newsome high school band members left for new york just after 2 o'clock in the morning. the 172 students on board are scheduled to perform three songs thursday as part of the macy's thanksgiving day parade. million people--- and perform three songs live on national television. the band director weighed in on the honor this morning: we're told the we're told the students learned of their selection 350-thousand dollars for the trip. last month hillsborough county commissioners presented the band with a 5-thousand dollar check to help with expenses. newsome high school is the only florida high school marching band participating in this year's parade. thanks, shayla. a lot of kids across the

means a lot of people will be starting their thanksgiving vacations today. triple-a estimates that 48-point-7 million americans will travel 50 miles or more from home this thanksgiving. that's one-million more than last year. they say this year's increase in travelers is due to improvements in the economy.. and that people have more confidence in the economy... this comes despite small increases in gas prices across the country. a startling report out of orange county. for three out of the last four years, orange county has ledhe juvenile arrests. according to the orlando sentinel, there were 6-thousand-547 juvenile arrests in orange county over the last year. that's 38- percent more than miami-dade county... where the population is nearly twice that of orange county. so why is this happening? part of the reason could be that officers and prosecutors in the county choose to arrest juveniles rather than write them civil citations for misdemeanors. the department of juvenile justice now have a policy in

juveniles and instead opt to write citations. the coast guard has suspended their search for a missing boater off jensen beach... that's on florida's east coast. 66-year-old "stuart savanuck" disappeared after renting a boat a week ago. the coast guard says he left last monday morning on a 23-foot boat and was headed south to fish. his family got worried when he didn't return that evening. the coast guard says they covered nearly 31-thousand miles between port st. lucie and grd some big changes coming to the vinoy renaissance hotel in st. petersburg. the hotel has started renovating its spa, fitness center, dining facilities and tennis courts. it's all just the latest in the hotel's plans to redevelop it's brand. starting in january, the vinoy will break ground on a new marina and pool-view restaurant on the esplanade deck at its main resort. their casual dining restaurant will offer indoor and outdoor seating with views of tampa bay. the spa and fitness center is scheduled to open in
