4:32 am
morning leaving pretty soon especially along the new jersey coast. 58 degrees right now and it is 9-mile an hour wind. we have 87 percent relative humidity. not raining at the moment. little bit on the breezy side. 5:39 is your sunrise time. we have 57 in allentown. fifty-six in reading. fifty-seven atlantic city. with all these cloud temperatures around the same as we recover from a lot of that thunderstorm, drama that we had yesterday with hail in some places, high wind, a lot of lightening around as well. 9-mile an hour wind here and in mount pocono. we have 5 miles an hour wind in wilmington. win direction all over the place. we are expecting a high in the upper 70's we're expecting a little bit of sunshine and possibility once again once we get warmer of pop up thunderstorms in the a afternoon. we will break that down for you coming up and get you set for the holiday weekend, coming up in the seven day forecast. bob kelly, how is it looking right now. >> right on the money. the rain moved out of here and
4:33 am
down the shore. here's a live look at 47 and 347, one of the major intersections. we will see a lot of volume this coming weekend as folks begin to head down the shore on the thursdays and fridays. so again, down the shore we're waking up with the heavy rain, puddles back in our area, philadelphia live look northeast philadelphia, i-95, everything is just wet this morning so be ready for slippery on and off ramps, hitting a puddle or two standing on the corner waiting for that bus be ready for possible splash zone there. there is a live look at the boulevard and ninth street where we had an overnight accident that knocked traffic lights out. hopefully we can get streets department crew out there and hit that reset button because this will be a hot mess this intersection, one of the busiest ones as the boulevard funnels down in toward the schuylkill expressway. the schuylkill eastbound only the right shoulder is opened at 476, and crews are still out from the overnight, philly international, in delays at the moment but as sue
4:34 am
mentioned with the heavier rain heading north up toward new york right now, those come minute necessity delays from laguardia, and from the new york airports jfk could have a residual effect here in philadelphia market frankford and subway using shuttle buses until 5:00 a.m. chris and lauren, back over to you. >> a man killed by a hit and run driver in the 7200 block of bustle will ton avenue. in northeast philadelphia. officials on the hunt after he runs away from that scene. lets get out to steve keeley in northeast philadelphia with more, hi, steve. >> reporter: better way to put it bustle will ton and cottman one of the major intersections in town here and see that bus stop about 20 feet off the crosswalk across cottman avenue, well, there was another bus stop directly across bustleton and look at what is left of it there.
4:35 am
man was tapping near it. the car was going up on the sidewalk, knocks the man and bus stop, drags, both, and there is what is left of the es300 now in the middle of the street, the street by the way, not closed, now lets go video, and show you the front, of this lexus, es300, obliterated, the front passenger wheel barely hanging on, the windshield smashed in, and the man that was hit, never had a chance, according to witnesses and police the driver of this car gets out, and looks at the dead man's body and runs away. >> it struck the metal canopy with such force it actually tore the metal canopy from the the sidewalk, and it also
4:36 am
struck the victim who was waiting, at the septa stop, and, launched his body about 100 feet. where he came to rest on the sidewalk. witnesses say the that the driver then exited the lexus, walked over, and looked at the body and then, fled on foot, south on bustleton avenue. >> reporter: all right. how could this man drive up on the sidewalk. this is just a theory, and possibility that police did not mention. perhaps, this man who was hit may have been just crossing the crosswalk there at cottman maybe not in the bus stop, the guy trying to make the the light here, flying, maybe sees the guy in the crosswalk, swerves to try to avoid him doesn't avoid him hits him and goes out of control and then up on the sidewalk and then hit the bus stop and then drags both, as far as he did. just a theory here, from experience, but, probably another possibility, but police do not know because
4:37 am
they have not found the driver because he wasn't man enough to stick around after this accident and hopefully they will fine him. they have the registration of the vehicle and the address of the owner right now, chris and lauren. >> we will see that lying there. >> all right, steve, thanks. >> dave kinchen is covering bill cosby back in court today for a hearing. >> that is right, bill cosby back in court around 9:30 in montgomery county, who else may appear and even testify, that after the break but first here's bob. >> dave, good morning everybody. 4:37. road are still wet, all around the area, some construction crews out like right here on 422 and there is still some green on the doppler screen as showers get ready to move off to the shore, sue has the full forecast when we come right back.
4:38 am
4:39 am
4:40 am
good morning at 4:40. bill cosby due in court. prosecutors set to determine if there is enough evidence to send the comedian to trial. >> for the first time in ten years he and his accuser may see each other. dave kinchen is live, with the latest developments, hi dave. >> reporter: big developments could come in this case today, this preliminary hearing bill cosby set to arrive around 9:30 to face charges of criminal sexual assault against him, after the pa supreme court denied a motion to halt proceedings that could take two or three days for a judge to decide if this case
4:41 am
will go to trial, this may also be the first time we will see cosby's accuser andrea constand whom prosecutors may call to the stan. cosby is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting her a former employee at temple university who considered cosby to be her mentor. the alleged assault took place at his cheltenham home in 2004 but his legal team says that encounter was consensual. high powered civil rights attorney and philadelphia native gloria alreadies representing 30 women in the separate lawsuit accusing cosby of similar crimes. she will be watching in court today. this is her take. >> we are used to david and goliath battles and we will look forward to the battle will, in our civil lawsuit and monitoring this important criminal case. it is within the statute of limitations. the end result should be that there is justice in this case. the end result should be that on dre a constand has her day in court, and that the people in the state of pennsylvania
4:42 am
have a right to a hearing and to a trial. >> cosby himself is not expected to testify, today, if convicted he could face ten years, in prison. back to you. all right. dave kinchen, thanks very much. 4:43. working for uber and lyft in new jersey could get harder. why you may have to offer up more than just your driver's license to work for these ride sharing companies.
4:43 am
4:44 am
4:45 am
all right. so here's what is going on, we still have, an off shore low pressure system. yesterday was off the coast of north caroline, today off the coast of long island but still throwing back moisture, wait for high pressure to take over and once that happens, oh, what a difference we will have for the holiday weekend with much warmer temperatures, to the point where we will have heat index by friday, probably, in the 90's. but it has been cool, all month of may, we have been well below average with our temperatures, well above average with our precipitation and what we're seeing now live is a look at more rain in the area. most of it is south of philadelphia, but up toward chester and delaware county we have a sprinkle there. we will zoom into a couple neighborhoods and show you downpour around cedarville which is in cumberland county and across the delaware bay to wood land beach, some rain
4:46 am
there, we will look at strathmere along jersey shore, stone harbor, cape may, moderate to heavy rain there, atlantic city getting rain this morning and moving down to the delaware beach along rehoboth, ocean view some steady rain as well. that is what is going on the at a the moment, we will look at future cast, cloud lingering, sun making its way through, and we should get enough sunshine to get to us average temperatures today in the mid to upper 70's probably and then chance of the pop up then are storm or two. right around the time they popped up yesterday, three or four or 5:00 o'clock in the afternoon toward 6:00 o'clock then we will start to dry out finally overnight. and we will get, some warmer temperatures in here and i'm talking much warmer. so, in woodbine where we just saw some rain it is 56, and brigantine it is 58, orange lake in sweet hill lake in burlington county it is 55 degrees. valley forge is 56, allentown 57. we had an average high of
4:47 am
76 degrees right where we were yesterday, we will be around there again today in the upper 70's and looking at the seven day forecast, it is 80's through the holiday weekend. we will be storms nearby that could touch off a occasional shower or thunderstorm but for the most part we are looking at very warm weather and humidity, bob kelly kicks in on friday, just in time for you to go to ocnj. >> bam that means i can wear my shorts, right. >> go for it. >> i have those jeans with the pockets hanging out from the bottom, i thought that would be fashionable. no, maybe get a trail -- maybe a sale on them down on the boardwalk. talk about those thunder boomers, yesterday, we went from sunshine to wick thunderstorms all within 20 minutes yesterday afternoon and all of the dogs came running in under the desk, crazy, as i'm sure we saw that all through the philadelphia, south jersey area, all the way
4:48 am
into the evening hour. here's a live look from ocean city, new jersey where we will set up shop this coming friday morning on the beach and boardwalk in ocean city, we will give you exact location later on but an example of that heavy rain moving off shore leaving behind everything is wet, ben franklin, schuylkill, i-95, we had an overnight accident on the boulevard at ninth street, here's the problem, traffic lights are on flash, there is no cross traffic. we will put those horses, blockages, so from ninth street you can only make a right turn so you'll have to go all the way up to say seventh, maybe all the way up towards adams avenue to make that u turn. look at this fellow trying to make a right turn. that will not happen this fellow making a u turn to ninth and the boulevard, look out, if that is one of the intersections you passed this morning. that heavy rain that moved through watch out for flooding and construction zones like here's one spot north on 295
4:49 am
