2017nfl draft will be held here in philly. fox 29 will be there for that big announcement tomorrow at noon and nfl executive will join miriam kenney and eagles president and legend ron jaworski. they will all there be fort big announcement. >> it comes as the city is dealing with crisis of violence and tonight we're hearing from the little girl who was hit by a stray bullet on the streets of north philadelphia. three people were shot yesterd yesterday. along 3,000 block of north marshall street. one of the two adults is now in critical condition. the third victim 12-year-old girl. good evening, i'm iain page. >> i'm dawn timmeney. that little girl now added to list of children hit by gunfire that is already too long. she is the ninth young person to be struck by flying bullets in our region since june. the oldest child 16, the youngest just six. fox 29's bruce gordon is live outside police headquarters tonight and he spoke to that little girl and her family. bruce, an experience no child

should ever have to live throu through. >> reporter: no, dawn, one too many are facing. absolutely the case. kids literally dodging bullets on almost daily basis and their parents frankly panic stricken the mere thought of letting their children walk out the front door. the city streets down the 3100 block of sheraton on this day after. but it could not walk away the stain of violence that nearly claimed two more young lives. >> i was crying. she was crying. >> reporter: it was around 6:30 monday night when 12-year-old sanchez they call her jew jew and her best friend nine-year-old lindsay were leaving a grocery at cleveland and marshall when nearby argument turned violent. 19 shots fired from assault rifle and semi-automatic handgun the girls caught in the middle. jew jew took two shots to the thigh. lindsay got a face full of glass from a shattered door. >> like somebody poked you extra

hard. >> reporter: how much did that hurt? >> like on scale one to 10 it was like a 10. now it's an eight. >> you got hit with the glass that's got to hurt. >> there was glass all in my face. then there was blood everywhere. the soda spilled on the floor. i slipped. jew jew slipped. >> reporter: violence too common on this block. just few feet away from monday's shooting seen sits memorial to 24-year-old murdered here at the end of july. >> feel like you can go outside and play when you want? >> yeah, but nobody shooting. >> reporter: nobody shooting. as for jew jew's parents, they're grateful she's still alive but they're tired of the violence on this block. violence that does not see the differentiate between the guilty and the innocent. between the gun toting aggressor and the tiny bystander. >> how do you feel as a parent likely to let your kids go out and play. >> can't do that around here.

she was a little sassy at times. that was her. >> eight-year-old. >> that was her. >> gabbie was an innocent victim caught in the middle what police say was gang related gunfire. her family and friends are urging anyone who knows something about the shooting to come forward. now to your fox 29 weather authority. meteorologist scott williams joining us. day six of this heat wave, scott? >> yeah, i mean, dawn and iain, we have been sweating it out for the month of august in philadelphia. it will go down as the hottest august on record. take look at the calendar behind me. we're talking 17 days this month high temperatures at or above 90 degrees. yes, today is day six of our heat wave. so as we focus in a live look outside. kind of hazy sunshine. temperatures right now still pretty warm. 89 philadelphia. we have 89 in trenton. 86 current until millville. mid 80s north and west but good news we're talking some rainfall that will be moving the temperatures will be dropping as well. still pretty dry for much of the area but watching showers move in to lancaster county better

chances as we move toward the overnight with the front. but look at what's happening in the gulf of mexico. we've been keeping tabs on tropical depression nine but it formed into hermine earlier this afternoon. maximum sustained winds are at 45 miles an hour. it will bring a lot of very heavy rainfall to florida then eventually hermine could impact a part of the upcoming holiday weekend. so coming up we'll talk about some heat relief on the way, track more about the showers with that front and also the tropical impacts that could be felt for your labor day weekend down the shore. back to you. >> all right, scott, thank you. a motorcyclist is killed in what police are calling a hit-and-run in north philadelphia. police found the car that hit the victim but no sign of the driver yet. 58-year-old victim ran a business in the community. >> police say he was hit late last night on whitaker avenue in feltonville. fox 29's sabina kuriakose is live at the accident investigation district with the latest on the search for that driver. sabina.

>> reporter: dawn, i just talked to the captain here a few minutes ago. he says detectives are back out in the neighborhood canvassing. they think they know who the driver is, now they just need to find him. meantime we're hearing a lot more about the victim here including the fact that he may have been a first responder during 9/11 and he had to lot to live for all of it cut short. >> hard to talk about because i just seen him last night. >> reporter: hard to talk about because just hours after derek little stopped to chat with his neighbor raul perez somebody left the man derek had nicknamed car wash bleeding to death on the street. the victim of a hit-and-run according to investigators. his motorcycle mangled in the road. >> it does sound very horrific to leave somebody in the middle of the road after you struck them. >> reporter: police say just before 11:30 news tight a silver 2,000gmc yukon struck the motorcycle head on. along the 4800 block of wait to kerr avenue and kept going. police found the suv five blocks away. abandoned. it's front end totaled. air bags deployed. and something else.

head. authorities found the victim on the 400 block of west abbotsford avenue at fern hill park. he was pronounced dead at the scene this morning. philadelphia police are now released surveillance video shows one of the men wanted in shooting and robbery in west philadelphia. investigators say sudden sunday morning a man park his car when a couple of guys walk up to him with guns. victim started runnin running ts when police say the two opened fire on him. police say he was not hit but the two guys did get his keys and then stole his car. so if you have any information on this please call police. in northeast philadelphia, police are trying to track down the man behind a string of commercial burglaries investigators believe this guy is behind seven different burglaries that happened between august 14th and this past monday. this video from inside the maternity bvm church along old bustleton avenue. the guy broke into donation boxes in the church and then took off. detectives think the man is driving a white cadillac.

police need your help tracking down this burglar in fishtown. police say the man tried to break into a home on the sunday on the 1,000 block of north bodine street by climbing a wall but he couldn't get in. police say on august 24th he stole a bike from a garage on the 1,000 block of frankford avenue. if you recognize this guy, give police a call. meantime police arrest add burlington county man for allegedly robbing someone in a courthouse. 28-year-old gregory walker follow add man into the mercer county courthouse robbed him and cut his face. officers arrested walker across the street from the courthouse minutes after the incident. police say he had a hypodermic needle and waxed paper used for heroin. he's charged with robbery and drug related charges. woman lying on a new jersey beach expected to be okay after officials say she was run over by a pick up. the owing county prosecutor's office says the woman who's from toronto was run over by a public works vehicle picking someone trash this morning. they say the truck hit the woman as she was reading then stopped

>> dramatic rescue off the coast of long island. new york police department rescued two men who had been stranded on yet tee for more than an hour. the rising tide trapped the pair on the jetty at breezy point tuesday evening. when the tides prevent the nypd harbor control and fire depth's marine unit from reaching the men the aviation unit had to be called in rescuing the two by helicopter. fortunately, no one was hurt. check out this video national guard teams from alaska and california rescue a man washed down river in his truck after trying to cross cash creek. this happened last friday. a mining road crosses the creek but the water level was higher due to all the rain that they had. the man climbed out of the cab of the truck and on to the top of the vehicle as it moved downstream. bystander with him left the scene for better cell service to call for help. and a big scare in nevada

♪ a terminally ill man from philadelphia said i do this weekend in tennessee. the ceremony was planned for october but doctors advised the couple their might not be that much time. doctors say christopher ford may actually only have two to three months to live. this past weekend family and friends made wish come true for christopher and the woman he loves. >> fox 29's shawnette wilson got unique look into this love sto story. >> his last wish to be his best wish to be married to his best friend. >> reporter: bob ford gets emotional talking about his son christopher's wedding to the love of his life. >> my heart was just overjoyed. >> reporter: wedding took place in nashville, tennessee, last weekend. it's special because bob's son christopher is 26 years old and is dying of cancer. doctors recently told him he has two to thee months to live and

might not make it to the wedding the couple had originally planned for october. >> it's been very very hard emotionally. >> reporter: bob who lives in warminster says his son moved to nashville where his mother amy lives so she could care for him full time. christopher was diagnose with stage four mouth and throat cancer last year. he beat it but it returned and spread to his lungs. >> they told him they couldn't do any more treatment because he was too weak. >> christopher and nicole have been together three years. they have a four-year-old daughter maddie and one-year-old son tristan both in the wedding. bob played a bigger role than he imagined. >> i said the vows because he can't speak because of his mouth and throat cancer. christopher's uncle joe says it's bittersweet but in way the wedding has given christopher new life. >> you look at chris and you see him fighting with all his will and heart, and he's doing it for his family and his kids and when

our coast by the upcoming holiday weekend. so we're talking rip current risk maybe some gusty winds even some heavy rainfall to kind of impact a plan. let's take a look at the latest track. the official track you can see moving toward the panhandle of florida tomorrow night through friday then moving toward the central sections of south carolina as we move toward friday into saturday and then saturday you can see just south of richmond, virginia perhaps. this is the clock here 2:00 p. p.m., 60 miles an hour remnant low and then eventually off the coast of cape may by sunday at 2:00 o'clock. so conditions could go downhill saturday night into sunday. across parts of our area. so don't tune out. take look at fox future cast as we run one of the computer models heavy rainfall in blue moving toward georgia. central sections of the carolinas. then eventually some of that heavy rainfall could move into southern parts of delaware. this is the clock at saturday night 8:00 o'clock. moving overnight saturday into

sunday. we're looking at the worst of poe tennessee shall for gusty winds and rain for a part of our area the heaviest would be in south jersey. parts of delaware where you see that blue and that circle in the middle that's the center of circulation that would bring dangerous rip currents maybe some coastal ad flooding, beach erosion and of course we're watching for the dangerous rip currents that rip tied will pull you out so if you're caught in a rip current don't panic, swim parallel to the coast, that will be your escape and also swim where those lifeguards are present. so let's talk about that forecast. busy holiday weekend down the shore tomorrow. some scattered showers. 80 degrees upper 70s as we move toward friday then watching the tropics. saturday mostly cloudy. saturday night into sunday. some wind and rain and that rip current danger so continues to watch that forecast. dry in south jersey all of delaware but look off to the west. lancaster, chester county, berks county scattered showers and thunderstorms approaching the philadelphia area late tonight

into tomorrow with that front that will bring an end the heat wave and heat relief as we go hour by hour tonight. low 70s by 11:00 o'clock with overnight showers and watch how thing play out by 10:00 o'clock you're watching broadcast looking at scattered showers across the area moving during the overnight you can see into parts of south injuries over into tomorrow morning still looking at clouds and showers for that thursday morning commute. so the heaviest of the rainfall overnight tonight first part of the day tomorrow but high temperatures top out at 84 degrees. so the heat wave ends as we head into september. friday big temple game sun to clouds low humidity looking nice and dry. 82 upper 70s for the weekend. but once again that night in the ointment we're watching what happens with hermine but it look like sunday could be the worst and then gradual clearing for labor day. back to you.

we could be talking about some wind and rain across the area. take look at the storm system right now. a very broad circulation and look at the very heavy rain bands moving into tampa, florida, right now. they are expecting several inches of rain. maybe toward the big bend area of florida up to a foot of rain. so take look at some of the spaghetti plots. watch the clock. thursday night, toward 10:00 o'clock, moving toward the panhandle making landfall moving into georgia central sections of south carolina by friday at 10:00 o'clock and then watch what happens as we move toward the upcoming weekend. we're talking saturday night. off the coast of the mid atlantic and then eventually this thing could be right off of the coast down the shore as we move toward sunday. so watch several of the computer model here. new information we're talking about some heavy rain around the carolinas by friday night and then some of that whipped and rain could make an approach toward our area saturday night into sunday. coming up we'll talk much more about the timing hermine want it
