7:03 am
right at route 322. route 47 would be the best bet. it is a monday, normal service coming back today on septa's regional rail line. here is the highlights there are 40 have of those new silver liner cars back in service. so those 40, plus the leased vehicles give septa the opportunity to put together almost the same schedule that we had back in june before this whole problem with the silver liner cars developed. rail service is back on the cynwyd line so no more riding buses and festival pier lot is closed. that was a benefit we gave while behind in the service but free parking will continue at frankford transportation center through the end of the month. lets get back to the creepy clowns. >> they are making threats of violence begins local schools on social media and now the office of home land security is getting involved. >> that threat right there involves newman goretti. investigators trying to track down who posted these
7:04 am
disturbing messages, as what steve is trying to do too over at the round house, steve. >> reporter: immediate concern was newman goretti and two other catholic schools which are opened unlike philly public schools that got threatened over the weekend but they are closed to day and thomas they continue to honor the rash hashanah jewish holy day but philadelphia police up and out early. added police presence at philly catholic schools today because of these on line threats, threatening to kill kids, kill parents, kill teachers, blow up schools, you name it, the police think these are probably copycat hoaxes from this craze that started way back in august with people first dressing up as clowns and jumping out of bushes trying to scar kids. but now national craze went into a higher level over weekend with the threats here in philadelphia that became very serious and then you've got added police at suburban senate i high school football game friday night because of clown threats and this morning added police in st. louis and philadelphia because of
7:05 am
threats against kids, teachers, and anybody else with a school. this stuff is not a hoax and not a threat in the mind a law. this is serious stuff, serious crimes and serious dues will be paid when they catch these people. >> we take all these threats very seriously. we handle things on a daily base i with the philadelphia police department, and we're always collaborating with philadelphia we know posting are going viral and they have grown, so we will handle them as we have been doing all the along and it is just managing for philadelphia school district when schools go back in session on wednesday morning. that is brendan lee, director of security for public schools and he has a couple more days, to help trace the sources of these things. he has help from philadelphia police and across the street from the federal building home land security with the power to trace those internet ip addresses and fit is just
7:06 am
bunch of kid sitting in their bedroom thinking it the is fun. gone are days mike, when we had soap on our windows and eggs on the the side of the barn. this stuff is major league stuff. >> yes, and word is spread to go do it, imitate it on twitter, social media, that is for sure. keep us posted on that. lets get back to the other top story, how is the commuting? septa says we're almost back to normal. let's check that out. >> okay. dave kinchen joins us from the ardmore station with more on how things are rolling, hi there, dave. >> reporter: they have been rolling good along the track is here, the town of ardmore. we will step out of the way and see ardmore station. folks are waiting for another train, we believe 7:12 train in center city. we can tell you happy regional rail is returning to the regular weekday schedule after a third of the fleet was off line for cracks on the cars. septa says beginning today the crowded trains and delays are expect to taper off now that progress has been in place for repairs. you may remember a few months
7:07 am
ago septa pulled 120 silver liner five trains when crack where is found on those cars this was one-third of the regional rail fleet. that meant more delays and late trains. today more than 50 repaired silver liners will be back in service we're told, septa is also leasing trains from amtrak and train cars we should say from nj trans ate monk others to make up for the difference while the return to normal is welcome news we found reaction is mixed. >> i'm skeptical. this whole back to normal i'm just not sure. >> we will see how it goes. >> reporter: are you optimistic or skeptical. >> i'm hopeful. it has been a long summer. i'm hopeful. >> i'm nervous about the delay and i'm nerve bus whether or not, that they will be fully operational and functioning to
7:08 am
full compassty and safe quite frankly. >> i'm happy to be back to normal which i'm hoping for. >> reporter: here's what you do and bob kelly will tell to you do this to make it more official. throw out old schedule use the new schedule which took effect yesterday. it is based on the june schedule whiz is before all of the problems were found. now this is a fluid process because septa is still trying to repair more cars and get them in place. they may have to make adjustments to schedules here and there on trains going in and out of the center city but for the most part everything is in place with the new schedule back to you. mike and lauren. >> speaking of borrowing new jersey transit trains they have their own issue this morning in hoboken ntsb will continue to search the ruble for the second black box in the new jersey transit train crash. investigators say the event recorder that they had recovered was not even working, it would have had information on the trains actual speed, when it crashed into that station last thursday. they believed that the second black box is underneath the collapsed section of the roof,
7:09 am
meantime, the trains engineer tells officials that he doesn't remember anything about the crash. >> the train came in the station too fast. we don't know why that is. we don't know if it was error, medical emergency, which caused him to lose control or whether it was some other type of mechanical failure. >> engineer says he does remember blowing horn and looking at speedometer as he pulled in the station. he told investigators that the train was only traveling at 10 . >> she was waiting this the platform, is there the engineer, right there. >> yes. >> he said i didn't remember anything after the crash, he ended up on the floor, and so he was going 10 miles an hour. of course he wasn't. >> how about this kim kardashian, she's a reality tv star. >> she was held at gunpoint. >> in her paris hotel room. she's over there for paris fashion week with a couple of her sisters. a spokesmen says two armed men
7:10 am
dressed as police officers, confronted her inside of the host tell room. kim was tied up and robbed. she said she had at least ten million-dollar worth of jewelry in the hotel room. can you imagine. >> according to her spokesperson the actress's badly shaken up about this. physically unharmed but freaked out. the daily mail over there, that is one of their newspaper is report ago this her children north and saint were not believed to have been with her. we don't know. come on they are speculating on that. so, kim along with her mother and two of her sisters were in the country for fashion week. meanwhile her husband kanye west left fans confused last night in new york city when he stopped the show with this announcement. >> well, i'll tell you what he said. >> i'm sorry, family
7:11 am
emergency, i have to go y'all. so, tomorrow night, he is supposed to be here in philadelphia at the wells fargo center. no word if that show is cancelled, just yet. i don't know if he is heading to paris or where he is. so far authorities in paris have not made any arrests, they have not found these fake cops yet. we will stay on it. 7:11. it is october, here comes the surprises in the presidential race. >> yes, politics they call it the the october surprise, is this it? both candidates kind of playing defense after yesterday. so leaked tax returns and documents from 1995 say that donald trump possibly have not paid trackses, since then. >> in 18 years. >> long time. >> and audio from hillary clinton becoming public of her talking about bernie sanders supporters. >> so break it down, kristin welcome if philadelphia. >> over the weekend both trump
7:12 am
and clinton they spent a lot of time digging in to their debate prep and deep two new big october surprises almost certainly come up next sunday. the clinton campaign is calling it a bomb shell report, the kind that they have been wait fog are this entire campaign season. new york times reporting that in 1995, trump declared a loss of of nearly a billion dollars which may have allowed him legally to avoid paying any taxes, for 18 years. >> it shows his business failure in the 1990's whiz i'm sure hit a nerve with him and something he is still a shame of to this daze. >> yesterday trump surrogates offered a different narrative across the sunday shows. >> to one who has shown more genius in the way to maneuver around the tax code as he right any used the laws to do that. >> the reality is he is a genius. what he did was he took advantage of something that could save his enterprise and he did something he we admire in america, he came back.
7:13 am
>> less than a week before the next debate clinton's dealing with her own leaks, audio recording of her speaking at a private fundraiser in february. in it she described some of bernie sanders supporters as living in their parent's basement. it perceived knock that clinton is now trying to court. yesterday sanders conceded that the comment bothered him but he still defended the democratic nominee. >> what she was saying there is absolutely correct, and that is you have got millions of young people many of whom who took out loans in order to go to college, hoping to go get decent paying good jobs and you know what they are unable to do that. >> reporter: today trump will be campaigning in colorado, clinton will be in ohio, and believe it or not she has not been to that big battle ground state in almost a month, although she did pick up an endorsement from cleveland's favorite sun nba legend lebron james. >> mike and lauren. >> so kristin. >> big endorsement. >> what happened? >> big endorsement. >> huge. >> yeah.
7:14 am
>> big endorsement from a big guy. >> yes. >> he is a large human being. >> kristin, every time you are on i like to put a kristin davis picture up because you look like chris tane dave toys me and same first name, do you get that all the time. >> does she spill it the same way, better be an in and not en. >> are you a en. >> in. >> no i'm an i-n. >> yes, it is superior to e-n. >> i heard that. >> they are both i-n. >> they are birth i-n. >> there you go. >> now i really like her. i will take, your comparison as a compliment. >> she's a vowelist. >> yes, i am. >> she's into a vowel controversy. we will see you tomorrow, kristin, nice job. >> all right, see you guys. >> speaking of bernie sanders, you know, what is his face. >> i know, his name too.
7:15 am
>> larry sanders, bernie sanders. >> larry david. >> yes. >> larry sanders. >> barry sanders was a football player. >> we will get it together. >> detroit lions. >> alex baldwin was introduced as donald trump and kate mckenon brought out her hillary clinton on saturday night live. >> trump responded to allegations of him criticizing former miss universe alycia machado about her gaining weight. >> why are we talking about this woman, we should be talking about the important issues like rosie o'donnell and how she is a fat loser, and everybody agrees with me. i wanted to bring that up in a presidential debate and i did it. >> why are you crying. >> i'm sorry, lester, this isn't going so well it is going exactly how i always
7:16 am
dreamed. >> she went on to say, oh, my goodness i'm going to be president. 7:16. sue with weather. >> we will start off with a look at matthew. >> hurricane. >> really, really powerful hurricane. there are only five categories on the simpson scale and this is a four. so, with a 130 miles an hour winds and it is bearing down on haiti. there is jamaica right there eastern cuba you see the path it is expected to take. you see well defined eye of this storm and how strong it is. that is an enhanced satellite picture right there we will show you spaghetti models. we have to look at spaghetti models. we see it traveling northward but then see it and some has it making land fall around north carolina some have it moving further out to sea. i am ago will be felt as the very least, at the new jersey shore, and delaware beaches,
7:17 am
but, maybe even more. so it is still uncertain but it doesn't look like that thing is going to be out of here for a while. for us we have a lot have of cloud cover still out there this morning. we have a drizzle, we have to go but we are seeing a lit built of clearing starting to happen. some areas just had rain a little bit ago, all that rain has dried up. we will look at future cast and see sun break go through clouds by 10:00 this morning and then it is a mix of sun and clouds stray shower here and there this afternoon and shouldn't be a big deal at all. finally we can start a whole new weather pattern but fog is out there this morning. it is improving in a few spots butes speak eggsly north and west of the city, watch out for that, fog. but improvement, yeah, sunshine today, 75 degrees, cooler tomorrow, back in the 70's, on wednesday, thursday, and friday but friday and saturday are the days we will start to factor in possibly what is now a very strong hurricane down there and getting ready to move
7:18 am
northward and make land fall in a few places. that is the rain we have possibly on saturday and sunday, lots to war which before then, bob kelly, look at this mess. >> yes, exactly. we have an accident at 7:18. we have an accident in the tunnels under 30th street station eastbound on the schuylkill expressway so we are bumper to bumper from city line avenue on into downtown. get off the schuylkill and use kelly drive or martin luther king drive. with the fog, mist, roads are damp. but we are seeing clearing out here. we were socked in with fog, zero visibility in delco just 20 minutes ago. at least fog is lifting giving us visibility and a accident on city avenue right at cardinal, two vehicles rolfed there. city avenue will go down to one lane with construction during midday. north on 55, a crash over at 322, those normal service patterns returning to the regional rails today, again they have been able to take the 40, silver liner cars that
7:19 am
are now you back in service along with the leased ones to put together a schedule that looks very similar to the same serve that is we had back in june. some highlights rail service back on the cynwyd line, festival pier line is now closed, no need for that but they are going to extend the freeze parking, at the frankford transportation center, to the end of the month and expect flight delays at philly interest the national. mike and lauren back over to you. one of the seasons biggest crowds came to watch ryan howard in his last game as a philly. almost 40,000 people there. there was no mistaking the love that he felt, look at number six, yeah, after playing over 11,500 games an emotional ryan howard talked to the fans. he got choked up. >> i want to thank you guys for making this all possible. making it fun. we had a good run, didn't we? >> just trying to go out here
7:20 am
and just do a job and play baseball and try to do it to the best of my ability and to have that be recognized the way it was recognized, that will live with me forever. >> yeah, keep them coming. pictures that you have taken over years with ryan and some of your favorite moments use the #fox 29 good day. country's opioid addiction is growing out of control. how can we protect our children. is there a new documentary aiming to fight the crisis. >> documentary head line here is based in philadelphia, they came to philadelphia to shoot it. >> they will talk to us about when we should be having a talk about drugs and kids. forget the polls, political polls why you can look to wall street for a predicts on who will win the november election. guy in the the right or woman on the left.
7:21 am
when i was one year old, i was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer on my spinal chord. but i spent my whole life fighting back. so you can imagine what i thought when i saw donald trump say... "i don't know what i said, ah, i don't remember!" "that reporter he is talking about suffers from a chronic condition that impairs movement of his arms." i don't want a president who makes fun of me. i want a president who inspires me, and that's not donald trump. priorities usa action is responsible for the content of this advertising.

7:25 am
analytics say keep an eye on the stock market from now until end of the month. if stocks go up clinton is expected to win. if they go down donald trump is likely to prevail. their model has correctly predict the winner of every single election, mike, since 1980. >> okay. >> on the flip side. >> trump can be expect to blame victory if gas prices rise above three dollars, or if president obama's approval ratings drastically fall before the election. >> okay. so hold on. >> we have to watch out for stocks, gas and president's approval ratings. >> i do that every day. >> that will predict what happens. >> stocks, gas and my approval rating. >> yes. >> i'm not talking gasoline. >> yes. >> well, what is it. tip o'neill who coined the phrase it is the economy, stupid. it is always about the economy, stupid. >> it is. >> nfl job fair. >> yes. >> nfl wants more women to be
7:26 am
coaches, officials, and scout. >> i like this. latest push in the league's first job fair specifically for women, planned in orlando, just before the super bowl. >> the study found that women make up to 45 percent of the fan base. >> really. >> of the nfl. >> yes. >> and 33 percent of it is tv viewers. so yesterday, 33 percent of the viewers watching nfl games were women but football jobs are held most exclusively held by men. nfl has just one woman referee, and one woman assistant coach, and no full-time scouts are women. the career fairies scheduled for january, by invitation only. where is super bowl this year, bob in houston. >> houston. >> why is it invitation only if you want more women why not let people show up. >> open it up. >> come on, don't be dumb. >> what is on your bucket list. >> oh. >> my bucket is almost full. my bucket has a whole in it. my bucket, who sang that song,

7:32 am
to be dissipating, so we can anticipate some sunshine along with our clouds and by lunchtime close to 70 degrees. our high today is 75. sunset time is 6:39, bob kelly, as those days get shorter and shorter. >> 7:32. >> good morning. we have a couple problems. eastbound schuylkill accident right here at tunnels under 30th street station. that is causing a jammo that begins around city line avenue, slow go all the way into downtown. there is that delay westbound, from about city avenue up the hill in toward conshohocken. the here's a live look at the benny still a little fog out there. it is not as thick as it was when we first started the party at 4:00 o'clock. the here's a live lot the a the freeway coming in toward the city. bumper to bumper into the whitman. northbound 55, an accident at 322, overturn tractor trailer, the eastbound, pennsylvania turnpike, the off ramp to downingtown, it is closed, and
7:33 am
then septa regional rails, normal service patterns, expected to return today and we will get more from ardmore with dave in just a couple minutes. mike and lauren, back over to you. thanks very much. it is a public health crisis more than 3,000 people die in pennsylvania last year from drug overdoses, 81 percent of those cases, heroin and at least one opioid was reported. >> we have found this new documentary called chasing the dragon, the life of an opioid addict and aimed at reaching high school students, maybe kid younger than that and their parents before it is too late. the here's a little bit of it. >> i was offered prescription drugs and i would never take them. i was in a car accident. >> i was running down the middle of the night, fell down the stairs and landed on my back on the wood floor. >> it started for me with pot, and just progressed into hell
7:34 am
basically. >> weed didn't do it the for he but it started it all for me. >> it was just too late. i had no clue what i was getting myself into. >> i had taken one at a time. i was taking four at a time. >> i was addicted to it. >> $500. >> wow. >> don't be fooled here, we have a special agent in charge of drug enforcement, and gary thanks for coming in. >> good morning. >> in philadelphia. >> yes. >> don't be fooled, this is a national epidemic but here in the delaware valley we all love living here but people are using heroin around here. let's bring up statistics here
7:35 am
and it is heroin but it is also cocaine and prescription drugs as well. >> sure, mike, let me just say this country is living through the worst drug epidemic in its history. we're losing about 47,000 people a year to fatal overdoses, many of whom are dying, specifically on heroin, and prescription opioids. this current epidemic has a feeder system that is called abuse of prescription opioids. >> realizing how bad problem is you have partnered with superintendents all across this state. >> schools. >> that is correct. we have partnered with the u.s. attorney office and fbi office to distribute approximately 115, school superintendent, throughout the eastern pennsylvania area. >> documentary just showcases what an epidemic this is. >> listen to these stats here. heroin use over the last couple years in chester count a loan is up 400 per
7:36 am
september. >> that is correct. >> bucks county almost 37 percent. >> correct. >> delco 19 percent. philadelphia county 1 percent. does it investigate at all why kids are using heroin. >> well, there are a number of reasons. this current heroin epidemic is worst we have seen in this country's history because it has a feeder system that is called abuse of prescription opioids. often times folks have a legitimate medical need for prescription painkillers to start but then those opioids stay in the household. they are used by folks who should not be using them. or you have what we call the practitioners who think less than 1 percent of the folks licensed to deal or to distribute and prescribe these substances, are illegitimately doing that. those are folks we consider
7:37 am
rogue and ones we go after. >> some people say high school is too late. do you think you have to start younger. >> well let me just say that we're seeing this epidemic, impact kids as young as 11 years old. >> my goodness. >> we've got messages for those kids, if families could go to www dot dea dot gov the resources attached to that, that really speak to kids as young as nine years old. >> yeah. >> how can you tell fur kiddies even using. >> often times you have to ask the tough questions. i'm going to say that in two respects. one is our physicians, all right. often times when we go in for just minor illnesses, lets say a tooth repair or a hurt shoulder, you are coming out with literally a month to month and a half of drugs.
7:38 am
>> if you do have those problems you have to put tonight a safe or a lock box. >> absolutely. you have to take precautions, it used to be most dangerous place in the household was the kitchen. now it is medicine cabinet because our kid are getting a hold of this stuff and it is having a irreparable harm. >> if you ever her of fentanyl it is up almost 30 percent too the use of that. >> what is that. >> fentanyl is actually an analgesic that is used in often times terminally ill patients, and it should not than used as a recreational drug, because it is so much more pour full then morphine itself. >> this documentary is powerful, chasing the dragon. the dragon is, of course, dixon. >> personal stories. >> personal stories that live it every single day. the it really talks about the perils and problems of using
7:39 am
drugs. >> thank you. >> it is scary. >> very much so. >> good to see you. >> thanks, mike. >> nice to meet you you. >> really good work here chasing the dragon. >> it is flu season coming up. i normally get the a flu shot from doctor mike. i will this week. there are five every day foods you could eat right now to keep the flu away. we will talk about it and see fit works.

7:43 am
