♪ >> live from center city in philadelphia this is fox 29 news at 11. we have breaking news out of the gate from atlantic county. police cars and ambulances have swarmed a neighborhood. people nearby have heard gunshots. we are still waiting to learn exactly what is unfolding here. good evening i'm lucy nola noland. it has been long night for police and neighbors in ventnor. let's get straight to shawnette wilson near the scene. shawnette. >> reporter: lucy, you're right. a long night for these investigators. i believe that this may have all started after 7:00 o'clock this evening. residents believe it was a domestic call that led to a barricade situation that started this whole thing, but still no official word from police. but what we can tell you is that this is happening not far from the intersection of dorsett and marshall street here in ventnor city.
just from the video we were able to get, we believe that investigators are surrounding a house on the 700 block. we have not been able to get close to the scene. earlier this evening there were lots of emergency crews on sce scene. we were told by atlantic police they also sent in help for ventnor police and assisting in with the scene. we also just learned little bit ago that the prosecutor' office is on scene. we are waiting to hear from them but in the men time we spoke to resident who tells us horrifying sound he heard when he was sitting in his living room. >> watching tv laying in the living room. next thing you know i heard a couple gunshots. i came out all the cops started pouring in. block everything off, and hung out outside for about half an hour and we heard another five gunshots right after the five gunshots. they just went off. maybe 12, 15 shots in a row. >> reporter: and still no word on any arrests or any injuries. but, again, investigators remain on the scene here just about halfway down the block. again it appears they still are
outside of a home in the middle of the block, and again, we are waiting to hear from the atlantic county prosecutor' office on what started this whole incident. lucy? >> all right, thank you very much, shawnette. north philadelphia violence between a brother and sister has landed one of them in the hospital. police say a woman stabbed her 26-year-old brother four times in the stomach tonight on the 1300 block of north tenth street. he is in critical condition at hahnemann hospital. no word yet on what set off that tack. new at 11 police in bucks county lookin looking for the mo exposed himself to two girls while they were bicycling. police say it happened right around 1:45 this afternoon the man possible until his 40 diagnose it in george bush park in buckingham. he left the area in a white sedan. if you know anything about this, give police a call. happening right now, an outrageous crime generating a lot of anger. a woman did something moments after a driver hit and killed her boyfriend in gloucester county. it has people shaking their he heads. when first responders thought
she was grieving police say she was actually stealing and it all happened inside an ambulance. fox 29's brad sattin is live in woodbury, gloucester county, were it what happened. brad? >> reporter: well lucy the saying they say that theft is a crime of opportunity and apparently when that opportunity presented itself inside an ambulance, a grieving girlfriend allegedly took it. balloons and roses mark the spot on mullica hill road where 27-year-old man lost his life sunday. police say he was in car with his girlfriend when he got out and was struck and killed by a passing car. paramedic pro nunsed him dead is the even trying to comfort his grieving girlfriend 25-year-old brittany, they offered her some privacy by sitting in the ambulance. >> she was there by herself and that's when the theft of the wallet occurred. >> reporter: she's accused of grabbing the wallet out of the paramedic's purchase in the center console taking credit and debit cards, a driver's license and $120 in cash. >> we don't know what would possess anybody to steal steal from somebody trying to help
them but it happened. >> reporter: less say she admitted to the theft all but the cash was returned. stealing from those committed to saving lives diss taken came fast. >> you had a car accident and someone passed. who could be thinking about stealing? >> maybe he didn't have live insurance. i got to pay for this somehow. >> you think really? >> i doubt it but -- >> reporter: you're trying to give her the benefit of the doubt. >> trying to think of something to make her not absolute horrible person. >> reporter: again, police say the woman did confess. she was arrested. released and lucy she will be headed to court. >> all right, thank you very much, brad. in philadelphia, protesters want to know why police fired 109 shots at a man fox 29 has been look nothing what happened last week in cobbs creek. >> why cops shot 109 bullets. >> protesters demanded answers from philadelphia's mayor today. last week in cobbs creek police say christopher sowell slashed his eight-year-old son's neck and chest, stabbed a 13-year-old over and over then assaulted two
other women. police ended up shooting him when they say he refused to show his hands. he was unarmed when that happened. today black lives matter active visits wanted an explanation for why police discharged their weapons more than 100 times. mayor kenney did respond saying he also wants justice and the incident remains under investigation. on your radar tonight mild weather around who are but trouble in the atlantic. meteorologist kathy orr here with your first forecast at 11. that is a large looking system behind you. >> it is a monster major category four hurricane, and this just in from the national hurricane center. it is strengthened right now mack mum winds with this hurricane matthew 145 miles an hour. it is bearing down on the southern part of haiti. we are expecting feet of rain. one to 2 feet of rain in some spots it could be up to 40-inches of rain catastrophic for that part of the country. it is expected to pass right over the eastern part of cuba as well and then come very close to the peninsula of flor as early
as thursday into friday. here's the very latest. the advisory as of 11:00 p.m. wind speeds 145 miles an hour. moving very slowly to the north at 7 miles an hour. so all of that water piling up in this little area of hispaniola crossing over cuba then hugging the coast and by late saturday night right off the coast of wilmington north carolina. as a category two storm. so you can see this area of uncertainty that cone of uncertainty could be little bit farther west or east but on that current trajectory coming very close to the eastern seaboard. even toward our region when you look at all of these models, these are hurricane models. they followed same path of course because they are guidance some of them moving them inland most of them the models hugging right along cape hatteras and then pushing it tout sea. on that current track that may impact our weather. european model one that we depend on heavily during the fall, during the summer, even the winter months, brings the storm off the coast of cape
hatteras and then out to sea. our american model starts off in a similar location on friday, but comes little bit farther to the north to the southeast of the delaware valley and this one could mean some rain. this is that american model spreading rain inland even on the storm stays offshore, it could mean some rain and wind for us late saturday and into sunday. we will keep you updated as the new models couldn't to come in during the overnight and of course over the next couple of days. in the city overnight it's quiet. 58 degrees. in the suburbs 53 degrees. so no weather issues this week. 69 tomorrow persistent easterly flow will bring more clouds and keep it cooler than it was today. today's high made it to 76. on your seven day forecast take peek. we get sunshine back in the forecast for wednesday, thursday and friday. friday we could see some high clouds. well in advance of any impacts from matthew. saturday watching matthew potential for rain late or in the evening. could linger into sunday. depending on how close that storm gets to our coast.
and then in the wake of that storm, there's a front that's going to help to kick it out to sea. it's going to bring much cooler air by the beginning of next week. lucy, you will notice the cool change. of course, if anything changes with the storm we'll be the first to let you know. for now we'll send it back to you. >> all right, sounds good, thank you so much kathy. in south philadelphia, heart broken family and friends gathered to remember kyree felder. someone shot and killed him over the weekend and tonight the person who killed this young father is still out there and his family is still begging for answers. fox 29 s dave schratwieser joins us now from police headquarters. dave? >> reporter: lucy, there's a $20,000 reward tonight for information leading to arrest in the murder of khiry felder. tonight we spoke with his mother. she wants some answers and she wants justice. >> it hurts and it hurts bad because it's not right for nobody to take anybody's life. >> reporter: white balloons headed skyward in south philadelphia monday note as almost 100 family members and
friends came to 18th and dickinson to remember 31-year-old kyree felder. murdered here over the weekend. >> shouldn't be so much hate in the world that they can just go around killing people. >> tears and candles as his mother addressed the crowd. heart broken over the murder of had he ever youngest son the father of a three-year-old daughter. >> he's kind hearted. he's used to help babysit my adopted kids. >> police say felder was gunned down in an hail of bullets outside this corner market saturday night. so far, there are no suspects and no arrests. >> to actually kill somebody like that, you can't take that back. there's no i'm sorry. >> everybody going to go about their business until the next one is hurt. >> his family called for an end to gun violence urging the community to come together and stop the bloodshed. >> it's up to us. needs to came. >> can i rear felder's funeral is set for tomorrow morning. police continue to review

♪ sentence fog congressman chaka fattah will not happen this week. things are on hold while his lawyers appeal his conviction. attorneys for fattah say a recent supreme court ruling narrows the definition of bribery and they argue the long hiv time congressman did not give any political favors in return for gifts. police now the suspect in the murder of a 32-year-old mother in delaware county last night month. they're after this man right here for the brutal murder of natasha gibson in yeadon. last week police called him a person of interest. but now they say he's a suspect. his last known whereabouts in philadelphia near 59th and
catherine streets. they believe he may live right around there. gibson's friends found her outside their home on bailey road in yeadon her throat was slash. gibson' funeral was today. septa regional rail system is back to its normal schedule after summer of chaos. defects in rail cars took one third of the fleet off the tracks for the past three mont months. and today with some of those cars back from the shop leased cars from other agencies rolling, septa returned to a normal weekday schedule, but the summer's chaos cost the agency a lot of riders and likely about $10 million in lost revenue. so will next july's planned fair hike be even bigger to make up for this summer's losses? >> there's no indication that we, um, will have that built into a fare increase because of our losses of revenue this year. >> but you can't say that it won't be built in either? >> we're just keeping -- we're just looking at those numbers. that's what i can say. >> and there you have it.
the last septa fair hike of eight to 10% hit in july of 20 2013. in washington township, new jersey, two teenagers are facing cyber harass many charges over clown threats. police say they've been getting a lot of complaints this week about social media posts threatening people. those posts said clowns would hurt specific people but after an investigation they traced two separate threats back to this is not surprising a 14 year old, a boy, an 13-year-old, a girl. police are not releasing their entities. they're saying they both to washington township public schools. now for weeks people across country have been talking about this creepy clown thing. self social media posts have emerged include something in our area that featured pictures of clowns doing what we just talked about, right. so today philadelphia police say they have a person of interest in a local threats. >> at this point in time we have been able to identify a 13-year-old that was involved. she along with friend of hers decided that this was a prank. something fun to do.

agriculture department says it has testified more than 4,000 mosquito samples since may and only six have contained zika. all have been miami beach and captured since september 1st. you know what workers who feel as if they might lose their job also seem to have higher risk of type two diabetes. researchers viewed nearly 140,000 workers in the us and europe and in australia. investigators found diabetes rates were 90% higher among those who felt like, well, i'd i can lose my job. the results match with other studies showing job insecurities associated with weight gain which of course is a risk factor for diabetes. whether your child gets a flu shot might depend on what kind of parent you are. a new study shows parents who favor alternative therapists often skip the annual vaccine. researchers look at nearly 9,000 children in the us. those who had received alternative therapists. they were as much as 39% less likely to have had a flu shot in the past year. results you want to fine them are online in the journal
