developing tonight at 11:00 o'clock, standing up to bullies. it started with a racist violent social mode ya post seemingly targeting african-american students at the university of pennsylvania. tonight, school officials say they are taking this very seriously. good evening, i'm dawn timmeney. the post was offensive to say the very least, but some students are also worried that this is just the beginning. fox 29' brad sattin is in university city tonight with the story. brad? >> reporter: dawn, the school is reactioning firmly here tonight saying "we will take every possible step to counter act this appalling bias as the university continues to investigate african-american students on campus are certainly on edge tonight. 300 students came together tonight with the university president to offer each other some comfort following a day that left many shane. >> they feel hurt. they don't know who to trust. they don't know what to do. >> reporter: someone possibly the school says tracked to oklahoma was able to get into a
closed facebook group of penn freshmen and through anonymous messaging app center them a racist filled post covered with the n word, threats of violence and lynching with references to daddy trump and trump disciples. >> there were basically events in there, for example, n word lynching that was made an event in there. there was someone saying hello n word to basically other things like that. and the black freshmen were very very shaken up. >> reporter: nate morris received the message. >> ever since the election people started to get like more confidence and like now they see that someone is in charge that like has a same -- share the same morals, that it's they feel confident with projecting that into the open. >> reporter: 7% of under grads on campus are african americans. those we spoke to say there have always and racial over tones on and off campus but they exploded after the election. >> the university of penn does a great job to making sure it's all inclusive and we have divert is the. but we also have a segment of the population that engages
white supremacist ideology. >> reporter: philadelphia mayor jim kenney is urging the philadelphia commission on human rights to investigate. students are asked asking for increased patrols around campus tonight. i can tell you we are seeing that. dawn? >> brad, thank you. happening right now, the cold is not keeping protesters off the streets tonight. still lots of anger and concern in philadelphia over president-elect donald trump. it is the third night in a row demonstrators are taking to the streets and they're joining thousands and thousands of others across the country hoping to send message of unity. fox 29's dave kinchen is at city hall where the rally began, dave, these protests here have been relatively calm. >> reporter: very calm tonigh tonight. over the last few nights meeting a lot of different people at these protests including one man who says he won't be republican any more in the next coming da days. >> we reject the president-ele president-elect. >> reporter: night three of the donald trump protests may be freezing but these demonstrators
are still boiling over this week's election results. including republican larry west who says he is leaving the gop. >> my party has failed me. a racist, sexist union february has become the leader of my party. a man endorsed by the clan has been endorsed by my party and become president and they have not renounced him. >> while this group of a few hundred is not as large as the previous nights rallies, these friday night active visits say they stand for the lgbtq community and people of color groups they say trump' as jenn today ignores good i have a lot of friends all over the world, and they keep asking us, why, and they don't see protests like this. so they think that all of us are for what is essentially going to happen and i wanted them to that we're not all there. >> we seen how portland oregon has done it with all of the violence. we really going to protest with love today. like we really going try to fight hate with love. >> reporter: some of the
people protesting are back from the old occupy philadelphia movement and they sell me tonight they're actually going to protest donald trump's inauguration on january 20th of next year. back to you dawn. >> dave kinchen, thank you. president-elect donald trump offed up two big surprises today. trump told the wall street journal that he would consider leaving in place parts of obama care. he had previously promised to repeal the affordable care act. around trump tower this morning security barriers were extended this is protocol and not the result of all the protests going on. despite the tension the transition goes on with perspective cabinet members and staffers popping in and out of trump tower. many deflecting questions about their particular roles. and speaking of that transition, new jersey governor chris christie who had been running trump's transition team for of the past several months bergere play. he will no longer be leading the team. donald trump announcing that he's replacing chris christie with vice president-elect mike
pence. three of trump's children will also play important roles on that team. on your radar tonight, you will be waking up tomorrow morning to cold weather like we have not felt in awhile. meteorologist scott williams here with the chilly start to the weekend. >> hi there, dawn. yeah, those temperatures are dropping. we had a high temperature this afternoon 64 degrees in philadelphia. but look at 11:00 o'clock numbers just in. down to 39 degrees. allentown 43 right now philadelphia. along with atlantic city and dover. those temperatures will continue to drop by tomorrow morning. so here's the bottom line. 35 degrees in philadelphia when you wake up on saturday morning. 30 in allentown along with pottstown. we're looking at 20s in parts of the pocono mountains but those will be attire temperatures. the feels like temperatures will actually be in the 20s even the teens in the pocono mountains. also, to note frost advisories 3:00 a.m. until 8:00 a.m. on saturday. we're talking delaware county, places like media, moving toward
the philadelphia county area watching outate temperatures bottoming out in the 30s so some patchy frost not out of question as those winds continue to diminish. but let's talk about the feels hike temperatures. this is how you need to dress for 7am. we're looking at it feel like 26 in pottstown. feeling like 26 degrees in atlantic city and 31 in philadelphia as we go hour by hour, by 10am, still feeling like the upper 30s. pretty much area wide and then as we go toward the afternoon, feels like temperatures in the low to mid 40s. so boy 3:00 o'clock it will feel like 46 degrees in the philadelphia area. high pressure that will be in control the entire weekend. we're looking at a lot of sun. but once again, dee september seive sunshine for tomorrow with high temperatures struggling to make it out of the 40s for most. in center city we should top out around 51 degrees. another chilly overnight as we move toward sunday morning temperatures in the mid 30s.
look at the rebound. sunday afternoon high temperatures will top out around 60 degrees. so great football weather. we'll go hour by hour. tailgators, temperatures on sunday will be right around 51 degrees. kick off temperatures by 1:00 o'clock 57 and then by the end of the game temperatures approaching the upper 50s. the weather authority seven day forecast showing chilly changes to start the weekend. a nice rebound though on sunday. 60 degrees. as we move toward next week we're talking seasonal temperatures maybe a coastal system that could bring some clouds a couple of showers tuesday into possibly wednesday. still kind of watching that and also sunday night into monday, a super moon like we haven't seen and get this almost 70 years. it's called perigee and the moon will be closest earth. the full moon will be closest just before dawn monday morning. something to see because the next time it will be that close, dawn, november 25th of 2034. great viewing weather for that
as well. >> worth getting up early. thank you, scott. skyfox over several row homes in norristown that caught fire tonight. you can see smoke billowing from the homes. this happened about 4:00 o'clock on the 1,000 block of rear ooh street. two showers later firefighters finally got the flames under control. the red cross was on seen to help families who are displaced. recall rosalis was relieved when he got home to find his sick family members had gotten out okay. >> i think we going to go a hotel and see what's neck. >> no one was hurt. four homes sustained damage we're waiting to hear exactly what spark that fire. president obama paying tribute to america's veterans this morning at arlington national cemetery on this veterans day. the president laying an hahn rower reath at the tomb of the known soldier that tomb honoring men and women who fought in america's wars. saluting the troops the president pausing with moment of violence to remember the fallen servicemen and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
military veterans are over represented among ranks of the homeless in this country sadly. 60-year-old clarence mayo knows what that's like. mayo served eight year in the pa recent core back in the 1970s and '80s but when he came home, he lost a job and then his home. we met him at a holiday luncheon at philadelphia's veterans multi service center. it's a non-profit that helps vets like mayo with housing needs and job training. center also offers free meals, laundry service, even a haircut when needed. mayo now a home thanks to the vmc. >> maybe i was one of the lucky ones but i appreciate everything the center provided for me, and got me on the straight and narrow path. >> mayo is looking for work. the vms sent him off with donate winter coat over his shoulder an free septa pass. hopefully he gets that job. of course veterans day celebrations happening all across the delaware valley. one of the largest in media delaware county. it is the 57th year for this parade. it's actually the largest
