happened on 14th street northwest near the gala hispanic theater. the victim has critical injuries. police have vague descriptions of the suspects but one has long red dread locks. fire investigators are trying to figure out what started a deadly house fire in chillum, maryland. >> it killed two twins as well as their grandparents. the mother escaped from an upstairs window and suffered serious injuries. the father is currently working in nigeria. family and friends gathered outside the home today in disbelief. >> the worst thing that can happen to anybody, is to lose children. so, this is terrible. >> firefighters say the rental home had no working smoke detectors. prince george's county fire officials wasted no time trying to avoid another devastating firement they went door the door on the same street of the

fire handing out free smoke alarms. >> i'm urges people as they go out to by a shovel, salt, buy a couple of smoke alarms. put them up in your home and go down the street. we shouldn't be having people dying in homes. >> prince george's county residents can get free smoke detectors installed any time. maryland state police searching for a trash truck involved in the hit and run crash that left a woman dead. gada amed pulled off the beltway of pennsylvania avenue when she collided with the trash truck. the driver of the truck may not have known if he or she hit her. the truck is green or blue with red lettering and there they be fresh damage to the passenger

side. police are hoping someone recognizes this man. they tweeted these photos tonight saying he is wanted for exposing himself. the man is known to frequent the green line and often uses the green belt station. new information on another incident involving metro. late this evening transit police say they rested a teen for brutal attack on the red line. we covered this. it happened a month ago. the victim was knocked out and left with a broken jaw. metro police first spotted their suspect earlier this month. they say he was carrying a bibi gun. the 17-year-old from southeast washington has been in custody since then. police say charges are still possible against even more suspects. two men from wood bridge appeared in federal court in alexandria on terror charges. farook tried to travel to syria to join isis. he was picked up at richmond international airport. the 25-year-old elhassan is charged with trying to help

him. both men being held tonight pending hearings in the next few days. we have new video of jason rezaian, he was the washington post reporter freed from iran this weekend. the couple are watching a video poking fun at the notion that rezaian could have been a spy. rezaian was detained for 545 days before he was freed. one of the other americans freed says he cannot wait to go home and see his family again. 32-year-old former marine makhani told reporters that his release after four-and-a-half years came as a surprise. >> you know, i was at a point where i had just sort of accepted the fact that i was going to be spending ten years in prison. so this was a surprise and i'm extremely blessed to see my government do so much for me.

>> he also said the officials holding him wanted to know why so many people were work hard to see him released. he simply told them that is america and they love their citizens. two emts from the oxen hill fire department are in the hospital from last night's serious beltway crash. >> a light pole pierced a toyota prius just missing the driver's head. he told our stephanie ramirez he is just grateful to be alive. >> reporter: not only did the driver walk away unharmed but he went to work. that is where i caught up with him. a busy workday was a welcomed distraction to 60-year-old luis abrego. he says he couldn't sleep much last night. >> when i saw the truck, the truck hit the pole that made me wake up every five minutes. >> reporter: this was his car last night. the light pole just six inches away from his head. he says he witnessed the accident that started it all, a vehicle sideswiping an ambulance. that sent the ambulance rolling off the road and into a light

a trump rally in iowa. >> interest, as donald trump has said, other nations where we have been footing the bill, but we haven't prioritized our own domestic budgets well enough to afford what we are doing overseas. things are going to change under president trump. >> sarah palin, a favorite of the tea party, endorsing republican favorite at this point. the front runner donald trump for president. they are in aims, iowa and expected to make a joint appearance in tulsa, oklahoma. donald trump sparked john wayne to trend on twitter during an earlier campaign event today. he stopped by the actor's birthplace in iowa and got an endorsement from john wayne's daughter. the republican leader also took the social media today after iowa's governor bluntly said he does not want ted cruz to win the state's caucus. trump tweeted big shocker. people did not like ted.

10:00 tonight. 21 in fredericksburg. 22 leesburg. 19, buoy. 22 downtown. okay. by 6:00 a.m., teens pretty much across the board, 17 leesburg. 15 in dale city. we will advance this by 9:00. doesn't get much warmer fast. it is about 21 in silver spring. maybe only 17 in cumberland. notice the clouds across i-81 okay? these will overspread the area in the afternoon. dry, we don't see any green blobs until you go past petersburg. there will be snow west of the divide. the best chance for seeing snow from this little system will be south of us. so don't freak out. it is not the storm yet. just a little system passing to our south. fredericksburg. you might see a shower. a snow shower, maybe a flurry. most of it gets out of here pretty quickly. we return to partly cloudy skies late tonight with temps back into the 30s so for tonight, lows 10 to 20.
