-- school. he was able to reach the school, and police believe that the motive was robbery. the attacker looked to be in his 30s. the student will be okay, and police want to hear from any witnesses. anxious after a brutal assault in montgomery village left a teen dead. oscar benitez is the suspect. police say that the blooding assault happened after 10:00 last night in the parking lot of the centerway park. they are investigating whether this was gang related. >> it's frightening. i come here a few times a week to walk and i realize this happened at night but it could happen any time. >> it worries us. this is normally a safe neighborhood. >> another gang-related murder took plla

from the same place, and this investigation is far from over. fire investigators are trying to figure out what sparked a fire at joint base anacostia-bolling force familiar -- forcing families out of their homes. no one was hurt. the bowie fire department is apologizing for a tweet sent out after a brush fire. it said a suspected meteorite was to blame. it wasn't. scott broom has the not-so-out of this world story. >> reporter: yes, the circumstances are weird but not a meteorite. >> it looks real because a lot of branches were down. >> reporter: they knew to come after the tweet saying that a possible meteorite, a picture of a rock without any evid

president obama announced 250 additional personnel will lead to syria to support the lead commandos there battling isis. battling isis has been a common thread on every stop of his tour of europe. and a $6 million law enforcement in the settlement over the death of tamir rice who was shot and killed while playing with a pellet gun in 2014. the video shows the patrolman firing as the boy held the gun. the grand jury decided there was not any evidence to bring criminal charges in the case. presidential hopeful john kasich held a rally this afternoon just hours after he and rival candidate, ted cruz, a announced an unusual alliance to take down frontrunner donald trump to stop trump from getting the delegates

be tossing in more? >> yes, yes, and yes. i think the state should make a contribution because people rely on it in the washington area and i don't think it's unreasonable to ask for a federal contribution and quite frankly, there are areas with the transportation infrastructure and the delegation has done a poor job in bringing the resources to the state. why do we have to go two lanes between rockville and frederick and when you are ranking on the budget committee or in charge of the senate appropriations committee you need to do things that maryland needs done. >> you think the fed needs to put in more monday sme. >> i think the feds should provide a reasonable amount of support and we have to look around at the other jurisdictions that use the system and we how we decide it up. >> are you happy with how
