a big wave but not a washout as hermine lingers off the atlantic coast. hello. i'm debra alfarone. for days we've been watching hermine as a storm formed in the gulf and headed up the coast, but now that it's here it's thankfully staying offshore. meteorologist howard bernstein has been tracking hermine as the storm lingers at sea. what's the latest? it will meander offshore the next couple days. tropical storm warnings are still up from fenwick island north now to cape cod tomorrow afternoon. notice the track will go more to the northwest here but stay far enough offshore where yesterday we thought the tropical storm force winds would come back tonight into monday from areas like ocean city to rehoboth. that's probably not going to happen now. we'll kick this thing off to the east wednesday and thursday. we're talking tropical storm winds 39 miles an hour sustained moving in toward the central jersey coach, much of long island and southern new england tomorrow afternoon. so place like boston down through providence, hartford and much of long island will be wet and windy, but around the oceans here they'll be breezy, battering with the waves here, but looks like the worst will be just off to our east and northeast. summing up the impacts from hermine, looks more like central new jersey through new england

coast. we'll still have a storm surge, some coastal flooding, not too much rain. the heaviest rain is offshore and battering waves with potential for beach erosion and maybe even some dune beaches and the 90s populating a lot of the seven-day forecast. >> thank you so much, howard. as hermine continues to swirl off the atlantic coast, people in ocean city got sunshine. john henry is live on the coast and, john, look at the wind out there, all thing considered not too bad of a day. >> reporter: yeah. besides the wind actually it was a great day here, plenty of sunshine, great temperatures. a lot of people took advantage of it on the beach here as well. as a matter of fact, they were allowed in the water for the first time since friday. after days of anticipating a washout tourists in ocean city finally got to enjoy a bright sunny day on the beach. thousands of people lined the coast as hermine loosened its grip

>> we didn't get to get out here yesterday. we were determined today regardless we were sitting out here on the water. >> reporter: the brown family made sure to enjoy the day, too while the strong tropical weather left them in awe saturday. the calmer wind sunday made it possible for them to play some football in the sand. >> oh, this is great. couldn't wait for the sun to come out, came down on friday with expectations of getting through it and we got through it, thank god for it. >> reporter: others close to enter the water. the ocean city beach patrol allowed people to go in but only knee deep as strong waves continued to hit the shore. the owner of fishers popcorn was happy to see so many people out enjoying themselves, too. as you can see, there were plenty of customers this afternoon on the boardwalk. he told us he's not worried about the business he play have lost due to hermine. >> i'm happy. you take when you get and be glad you got it. >> reporter: now there's still some concern about high tide later tonight and

good news. prince william county police say that little boy has been found unharmed. look at zion lebron favors. police say this baby was taken after some type of domestic altercation last night at a motel in dumfries, virginia. his mom, a 22-year-old woman from new mexico, says she was involved in an altercation with that man there, 44-year-old russell carnell walker. police say he took the baby and disappeared. late this afternoon police got a tip about where to find the baby. they went to cardin place in woodbridge and arrested walker. little zion was found in a nearby home safe and unharmed. two people are dead, a third in critical condition following a violent two-car crash early this morning on pennsylvania avenue in capitol heights. police say the male driver and female passenger in one of the cars died. the driver of the other car is now hospitalized. the names of all the victims have not been

still no arrest in the frightening attack in alexandria, a lifeguard says that she was abducted and raped while working at a condominium pool. this happened yesterday afternoon in the 200 block of south pickett street. ileana diaz has the disturbing details. >> reporter: at this pool behind me where yesterday around 2 p.m. a woman was working as a lifeguard when a man unknown to her came up to her, abducted her and then raped her. in this alexandria community you don't hear much and there aren't many people out, as you can see. some say that's the problem. >> we have noticed that she stays there by herself because nobody really comes to the pool throughout the day and i believe somebody that was actually noticed that. >> reporter: that we don't know. what we do know is that the 24- year-old female lifeguard was here by herself yesterday midday when she was attacked. she told police the man waved a gun and he raped her running away immediately after. >> i

because it's out of sight of the pool. >> reporter: this man lifeguards at a pool just a few yards away. he said the lush greens around the other pool make it hard to see in, but now everyone is on the lookout. >> we don't know what to do. most of the lifeguards told me we don't want to come here again. >> reporter: police describe the suspect as a white male, mid-30s, tall, thin, short hair and dark eyes wearing a blue baseball hat and gray hooded sweatshirt. they want anyone with any information on this incident to call. in alexandria i'm ileana dia. >> an employee told us the pool is open through the holiday but they're checking ids to make sure only residents go in that pool area. still ahead as we continue washington's close-knit go-go music community

good news for red line riders, the rhode island avenue station reopened today. it was closed on friday after two separate instances of concrete falling from the ceiling. metro installed netting to catch any potential additional falling debris. engineers determined the falling concrete wasn't the result of structural issues but likely just deterioration over time. fans of washington's go-go music community are mourning tonight. according to multiple posts across social media, byron

st. st. teresa of cal cut arks the defender of the unborn, -- calcutta, the defender of the sick, the unborn and the abandoned. here's an interesting story. usually it's her singing that turns heads. now it's her arrest. police apprehended an old town alexandria opera singer and street performer for a noise violation on friday and that singer tells city -- stephanie ramirez that she feels violated. >> reporter: it's all part of the atmosphere here, but around 9:40 at night it wasn't crystal thompson's singing, but the speaker she was using to sing with friday evening that was the problem. i caught up with the professional street performer singing outside of the white house today. she said she was told by police officers multiple times to turn off the speaker, but believes
