we can help you with up to the minute traffic conditions around the new mgm national harbor. just download our wusa 9 app. the head of the prince george's liquor commission facing dui charges. charles caldwell got into a three-car crash outside the mgm national harbor following the grand opening. nobody was hurt but officers say caldwell smelled of alcohol and refused to take a breathalyzer and failed a field sobriety test. he was taken into custody. the federal government faces a shut down if congress fails to get a stop-gap spending bill to the president. the house passed the bill and is headed home for the holidays. the trouble is in the senate with democrats have put up a roadblock. they are not happy that it extends health benefits for retired coal miners for 4 months, theyt

jurors heard the confession tape from dylan roof, the killer of the people in the black church in charleston, south carolina. he said he planned to kill himself but changed his mind. former defense contractor is going to prison for life for murdering his wife, michelle. >> a jury imposed the life sentence for the 2014 murder. castillo snuck in her home in the middle of the night, killed her and tried to make it look like a suicide. several jurors came to today's sentencing to support the victim. >> it validates that we arrived at the right decision and i'm happy that michelle got the justice she deserved. >> what is it like to look at bralio castillo and know what he did. >> i hope that he will come to term with what he did. i really do. i think he got the punishment he deserves

>> he's still claiming innocence. >> yeah. he's not. >> at the hearing two of castillo's five children spoke on the impact of their mother being murdered by their father. a judge gave a potomac, maryland man 12 years in prison for a crash on river road that killed a bethesda couple and their son and injured their daughter. 21-year-old ohjohn anticulu pleaded guilty to manslaughter. his turbo charged bmw was hitting speeds of 115 miles per hour just before the crash last february. he broadsided the car of a family headed to a high school play. coming up next, one of president-elect donald trump's possible choices for secretary of state said no thank you.

president obama ordered that review. the goal is to figure out what lessons were learned and how to block cyber attacks in the future. the results of the probe could remain classified for obvious reasons. in south korea lawmakers voted to impeach president hye. she's accused of giving a friend access public documents. that decision was greeted with celebrations in the streets of south korea. she apologized for her actions. it will be up to the court to decide whether to remove her from office. president obama today ordered u.s. flags to fly at half-staff as a markf o respect for the memory of john glenn. a viewing will be held at the ohio state house in columbus. the exact date and times are still to be worked out. a memorial service is also being planned at ohio state university and burial will takece

arlington national cemetery. glenn became a national hero in 1962 when he was the first american to orbit the earth. he died yesterday at age 95. the smithsonian is remembering john glenn. his portrait went on display in a space on the first floor this morning. the water color and graphite sketch depicts 77-year-old glenn before he blasted off in discovery in 1998. the 9-day mission made him the oldest astronaut in space. after last week's devastating fires in the great smokey mountains businesses in gaithersburg, tennessee want you to know they are back open for business. there's the traffic returning to the tourist district early this morning. that area was spared by those fires that killed 14 people and damaged or destroyed more than 2400 properties. gaithersburg counts on dollars from the 11 million visitors a year to survivor. the town only

quincy orchard and henry wise for the 4a state game title tonight in annapolis. very interesting high school football match up as part of game on varsity we preview the cougars heading off earlier today for the 7:30 kick off. they are hyped. after losing the first game they reeled out 12 straight. one more and they are state champs for the first time since 2007. >> a lot of people were not focused during class. very exciting. >> we have the opportunity to coach and play in the game previous times to trying to keep guys on the cours
