developing right now in portsmouth, police say a woman is in the hospital fighting for her life after someone broke into her home and shot her. police say the shooting happened last night on queen street. that's near london boulevard and martin luther king freeway. rico bush has been working to gather more information from police on the investigation. he's live at the police department. rico, what can you tell us? katie, brandi, police say they are still searching for three suspects, who sped off from the home after the shooting last night. they want to question them and found out why they did it. police say at least one of the suspects shot the woman inside her home during a home invasion on queen street around 8-30 last night. investigators say a bullet hit her in the torso. paramedics rushed the victim to the hospital with serious injuries, but

her in critical condition. detectives have not said if the suspects took anything from the home officers want any witnesses to come forward if they know anything. they say someone saw the men getting into a vehicle before leaving the scene. police say two minutes after the first shooting, someone fired shots into another home on the same street. people were inside the home at the time, but no one was hurt. officers have not said if the two shootings are related. live in portsmouth, rico bush, 10 on your side. that wasn't the only shooting last night in hampton roads. about half an hour later, police in newport news got a call about a teenager shot on 18th street and ivy avenue. investigators say someone shot the 17- year-old in the back. paramedics took him to the hospital with possible life-threatening

to find out more details from police. and about 30 minutes after the newport news shooting, hampton police got a call about a man shot on martha lee drive. investigators say he had several gunshot wounds, but was stable when he went to the hospital. in all of these shootings, police do not have any suspect information. that's why they need your help. if you saw something, or know something about any of these incidents, call the crime line. tonight the republican presidential candidates will square-off in another debate. fox business network is hosting it, and will focus on economic, domestic, and international policy issues. the main debate starts at 9:00, the undercard debate is at 6:00. it will be held in south carolina, one of the key early voting states. this debate, and another one at the end of the month, are the last two before the iowa caucuses on february 1st. top republican officials

contested convention. it's possible none of the candidates will win enough delegates to secure the party's nomination. a member of the republican national committe is holding a private meeting today to come up with contigency plans. the party is deeply divided right now between establishment candidates and those outside of it - namely donald trump and ted cruz. new this morning, the cruz campaign is dealing with what it calls a mistake. the candidate failed to disclose a one- million-dollar loan on federal fundraising reports 20-12. cruz borrowed the money from goldman sachs, where his wife is an employee. a spokeswoman for his campaign said they are consulting a federal regulator about how to make it right. cruz learned about the mistake from a new york times reporter yeterday. disturbing new details about the gunman who killed three people outside a planned parenthood facility. ahead, what he had to say to a television station about the

we have new information about the gunman in a deadly theater shooting in louisiana. police released documents from his journal. they showed he praised the gunman in the south carolina massacre that killed nine black churchgoers. the journal also reveal his hatred for the government, news, and miniorities. you first heard about john russell last summer when police say he started shooting inside a lafayette movie theater. investigators say he killed two women and hurt nine others before turning the gun on himself. there's also new information about the deadly shooting outside a colorado planned parenthood. gunman, robert dear, told a t-v station the shooting was a spur-of-the-moment act. he also said he believes f-b-i agents were following him the morning of the shooting and that agents tipped off the facility. dear said quote -- "when i busted in that door on the side, all the people

in the november 27th shooting, including a police officer. there's new information about a house in ohio that exploded into flames and killed a family of four. investigators now believe someone intentionally started it. :01 - :04 "our neighbor's house just blew up, its on fire right now." butt to :09 - :12 "i heard this boom and now im seeing orange flames." we first told you about this fire as breaking news tuesday. investigators say the fire started in the first floor hallway. neighbors say they are not surprised it's arson. :55 - 1:14 "no, there's no surprise by the intensity of that fire that night we knew right away it wasnt any natural gas explosion. "it had to be five minutes before i came outside and the whole house, i mean the roof was burning top to, you know the whole thing was caving in already." firefighters found the body of the mother and her two daughters ages 8 and 12, on the first floor of the home. they found the

the back of the house. back here in hampton roads, police met with residents about body cameras and the best way to use them. the virginia beach police say they are ready to join other southside departments with the new equipment. residents at last night's meeting mostly asked questions about when the officers will turn the cameras on and off, and whether or not they will be able to play video back before filing a report. they also asked how long the department will keep the video. if it's part of an active investigation, by law it must be saved for 75 years. however, if it's not part of an active investigation, it doesn't need to be saved. the department is hoping to buy 450 cameras, which cost an average of one- thousand dollars each. a proposal for the cameras will still need to go before city council. there's another meeting scheduled for january 23rd. we've put the details in this story on wavy-dot-com. chesapeake added extra security cameras to its parks and community centers to deter crime

are unstable. so far pier one says 27 people got hurt falling off these chairs. if you bought one within the last five years, stop using it. contact the store for a free repair kit or a full refund. new this morning u-s customs and border protection officers intercepted nearly three-thousand pounds of marijuana hidden in a shipment of fresh carrots. take a look - officers stopped a trailer and found at least two truck-fulls of what looked like carrots coming from mexico into texas. someone packaged and made the marijuana to look like carrots. then they were spread out among bags of real carrots. the officers say the drugs are valued at about 500-thousand dollars. new this morning, doctors say cases of mono are spiking in some parts of the country. its a contagious virus that's often confused with the flu. early on, the symptoms are the same. fatigue, fever, body aches and swollen lymph nodes. doctors say mono is usually not serious, but it can last for weeks, even months. they can only diagnose it through a blood test. most people who get mono only get it once. it's more prevalent in the winter months in teenagers and young adults. a new study suggests health warning labels could significantly reduce the amount of sugary drinks parents buy their children. the labels, which warn about obesity, diabetes and tooth decay, were similar to the ones lawmakers in california and new york proposed to educate people about sugary drinks. researchers found, parents were much

all new this morning, utah police arrested olympic snow-skiier picabo street for pushing her father down the stairs during an argument. deputies say her 76-year-old father claimed he was trying to leave the home when his car bumped the side of the house. he says picabo got very angry and started yelling at him. he says she pushed him down the stairs, then later locked him in the basement before calling police. street faces several misdemeanor assault charges. she won a silver medal in 1994 in lillehammer, norway; and gold in 1998 in nagano, japan. we're following breaking news overseas. police are investigating a deadly terrorist attack at a mall in indonesia. we'll tell you how many attackers witnesses saw.

this morning, the search is on for three suspects connected to a violent home invasion in portsmouth. police say someone shot a woman in her home last night on queen street. she is recovering in the hospital. rico bush is live at the portsmouth police headquarters with the latest. rico, any update on the victim? katie, brandi, police say the woman remains in critical condition and fighting to stay alive in the hospital. police say at least one of the suspects shot the
