have a nice sunday on the wtemperatures in greenville are in the low 20's and we will be there most of the morning. it takes until 10:00 to get the low 30's. it's much milder today. here we are in spartanburg, it's nice and white out there. we will have some nice melting going on today. it's anyone with clear skies and calm winds. the wind will be calm her for all of us today. that's more of an issue across western north carolina. it feels of the chillier this morning. the wind is about 10 miles per hour. the windchill is in the teens across most of the mountains. it feels like mid 20's from greenwood to abbeville and elberton. you will be bundling up, but also grabbing sunglasses. we have some fairweather clouds that will be in and out or out

we have lots of sunshine and anderson will be in the upper 40's this afternoon. in asheville, few more clouds the ground. temperatures are getting into the low 40's today. it we will look at low to mid 40's and spartanburg. we will talk about warm-up and when the rain comes back. myra: this monring authorities want to know if ice is responsible for a crash that killed a pedestrian saturday afternoon. the incident happened along highway 14 near stoneb way in greenville. the coroner says 44 year-old andrew van evera was jogging when the incident happened. investigators are trying to determine if the car that hit van evera lost control bece of the weather conditions. hundreds are still in the dark this morning. here's a quick look at the latest power outages.

outages are in greenville county, with more than 900 people. there is about 100 people without power in buncombe county, more than 600 outages with blue ridge, and most of those are in pickens county. duke power says greenville county has some of the hardest hit areas in all of south carolina, and the company has doubled its manpower efforts by pulling crews from different parts of the nation. as crews work to restore the power, others are tryi the roads clear. this is sky 4 video from over greenville county saturday before the thaw started, before all of that ice on the roads turned to slush on many of the major highways. as it stands now, dot says greenville county interstates are clear, but be ready, because some areas saw some re-freezing overnight. so, the sand and salt trucks were sent out yesterday to pre-treating the roads to prevent black ice. the dot says there areas they treated were in mountainous regions.

roads are 75% clear at this time. and getting around parts of western north carolina wasn't easy, depending on where drivers were heading over the past couple of days. daylight revealed what drivers were dealing with. at least five vehicles were abandoned along interstate 26 in the asheville area. parts of the interstate were still icy saturday morning. this is the black mountain area greater a lot of people parked uphill. it they were kept in the snow. >> don't like it. i don't like the snow at all. i wasn't expecting it to be this much though. >> it's the worry of power lines and other loved ones being at home and if they lose power, how are we going to get to them, things like that. myra: gusty conditions were a concern in henderson county. also, parts of highway 25 were completely covered with snow. here is a live look of what the

in boone right now. a lot of snow over there. as you can see there is a layer of snow and slush on the road ways. millions of people in cities and towns along the east coast will start the arduous process of digging out this morning from this weekend's historic blizzard. the storm left several people dead and thousands of travelers stranded. nbc's jennifer johnson has more from washington. jennifer: first list of 2016 has slowly die down after burying at major east coast cities in as three feet of snow. air, rail, and highway travel shut down. now comes the recovery, getting roads passable again. >> anybody trying to get out, some people have patience and some people don' you see people out clapping. jennifer: washington in new york

it's 24 degrees and we will have a lot of melting todthat's good news/bad news i guess. it could be slippery on the roads tomorrow. here we are as far as the total scope. it was five inches in greer. spartanburg was over 7.5. pickens was just over three inches. in georgia, the amounts ran the gamut from the mountains, almost nine inches to just a trace in livonia. here we are in asheville this morning, it's really cold but not as windy. that will make things much more comfortable for you today.a northerly wind at sign, that amounts to more of a chill in the air. that snow added up a little bit yesterday.

mount mitchell is blowing everyone away with 19. it feels like 25. it's only 18 in spartanburg. it's 22 in anderson. that is better than we are doing in franklin. the windchill is in the teens. it's 30 degrees and florence. we had a few flakes fly along yesterday. it's still a cold morning there. that would include charlotte, a dry for the game. it will be in the mid 20's by 10:00. we are getting into the lower 40's for highs.

philadelphia. take a look behind me this is the scene in pennsylvania has hundreds of car, buses, and trucks have been stranded on the road since friday. melanie gillespie has more, melanie: from tractor-trailers to tour buses to cars and suvs, travelers were stranded on the pennsylvania turnpike for a 33 mile stretch. the national guard was called in. >> hopefully it won't take much longer. melanie: they spent 16 hours living off what was in their cars area they waiting for any sign. >> we see some vehicles, just nothing. >> we slept some.

myra: we are taking a look at news for your health. new data shows women are waiting longer to become mothers, the cdc says its been rising for the last 15 years. the average age has risen to 26, back in 2000, it was just under 25-years-old, researchers say this is partly because there are fewer mothers under the age of 20. the teen birth rate has hit an all-time low. economic factors also play a role, with an increased number of women putting off motherhood for higher education or a career. a new study says catching up on your sleep over the weekend could possibly reduce the risk of getting diabetes. the university of chicago used 19 healthy young men eating a controlled diet in their study. the study found getting fewer than five hours of sleep on four consecutive nights increased their diabetes risk 16-percent. but after sleeping more than nine hours for two consecutive nights, that risk returned to normal levels. the impact of extra weekend sleep on these health remains to be determined.

or snack from a restaurant nearly six-times-a-week. if you aren't eating at a chain restaurant that posts calorie counts on the menu, you might not know how healthy your meal is. jennifer whalen has more. jennifer americans love to eat : out. many chain restaurants are posting the calorie counts on their menus, before it becomes a federal law this year. but if you think that eating at a non-chain is healthier, that may not always be the case. researchers sampled dishes in restaurants in boston, san francisco and little rock. they found that the meals at independent eateries were just as calorie-laden a restaurants. however, you might not know that because the calo always on the menu. according to their research, the average dinner at a non-chain restaurant had about 12-hundred calories. while that may be comparable to a chain restaurant, it's still about half the recommended amount of calories for an adult. the worst offenders, american, italian and chinese restaurants tended to pile on the calories,

the snow totals are always amazing. a couple of feet of snow, while many of us, just a couple of inches. when you see the influence, still one more push of the northerl here around our area of low pressure, which will be m sea, and really trying to dig out of the northeast. that is still impacting travel, and could have ripple effects on monday, if you have to go anywhere. things are looking prey good across the country. we will look at another front heading our way by tuesday. that will be rain. temperatures, actually not bad across the country. no extremes. as far as snow goes this week, it is mainly confined to the great lakes, where it is supposed to be. it will be a very cold evening and monday morning.
