our latest computer monitor shows as much as 3/10 of an inch in the hendersonville area. that would be problematic. here's the latest impact. as we head for monday morning, snow and sleet. monday evening it turns to freezing rain. it continues into tuesday morning. if that's delayed, that could be more ice. >> absolutely. we are talking about a major ice storm. a lot of computer models pushing the arctic air out way too quickly. >> thank you very much. marco rubio isn't wasting any time here in south carolina
rallies from the low country to the upstate. he's rallying at the greenville downtown airport now rubio has said he's confident in his chances here. he says south carolina is strong on national security and so is he. we'll have more on his stop in the upstate, coming up at 5:30 . also right now several , republican candidates are talking faith and family at bob jones university. gabrielle: right now senator ted cruz is on the stage let's listen in live at the event now. my question to you because faith was such a unifying factor here, as president, what role would
the political religious racial and economic divisions that divide many americans. >> thank you for that question. my faith is integral to who i am. you're right that the tragic shooting at the church provided a powerful illustration of how they can bring us together. it also was a real missed opportunity for us. one of the saddest things in the last seven years of the obama presidency is that at every turn, the president tries to divide us. on racial lines, on ethnic lines, on religious socioeconomic lines. i think we should have a president who works to unify us. instead of politicizing the horrible tragedy, as a christian the idea of someone coming into
praying with people and then them. that's a level of evil and depravity it is difficult to get your mind around. talking about emmanuel ame. i actually talked to him about that. there is a lot of conversation and a lot of people collecting information about what set of the fence there on. so many candidates will be here tomorrow for the debate. it is deathly going to be interesting. gabrielle: many candidates at the university today.
>> today every candidate , answered the same questions on a number of topics centered around faith and strong families. south carolina attorney general alan wilson asked a lot of the questions today. dr. ben carson former governor jeb bush and senator marco rubio already took the stage. let's take a listen to what they said about including faith with leading the country. dr. carson: i think the presidency is a tremendous opportunity to effect the whole being of the country. it's a bully pull pit where you get to either talk about ways to divide people or bring people together. we are called the united states of america, not the divided states of america. and we have much more in common with each other than the things that separate us. what has happened is we have
division to hold sway in our society and hence there is a war on women and race war and income wars and there are age wars and there are religious wars, a war on anything anyone can imagine because they live by the adage of divide and conquer and its -- it is really up to we the people and it helps tremendously when you have a president who recognizes we the american people are not each other's enemies. the enemies are those that are trying to divide us. >> my faith means everything to me. i was a young man married on the run. i had a business we started from scratch. we were blowing and going like you do when you are young and
there was a point in 1988 where i lost my way. i was overwhelmed, involved in too many things. one night, reading the bible, i got a serenity. the lord came to me and from that moment on, i have been a christian. it has been a guiding light for my life. senator rubio: what is this country founded on? it is not founded on a poltical principal. america was founded on a powerful sprititual principal. here's the principal it's the truth you're rights do not come from government. your rights don't come from your leaders. your rights don't even come from the constitution. your rights come from god. >> senator cruz is still on stage. he is the last of the candidates to speak today. at 530, we'll have much more on how the candidates plan to help military families and veterans. corey davis, wyff news 4, live in greenville. gabrielle: we will see you at 530.
former governor jeb bush was in , anderson. speaking to a room full of supporters at the civic center. security and how his family has helped shape him. >> i am a ym. i am part of the establishment i have been typecast as that. i get to tell the story of being a disruptor as well. when i was governor, we turn the state capital upside down and change things and think it's -- and things got better. i want to take a combination of having the experience of being the son and brother of a president, and also a successful governor. that is the case i am making. gabrielle: afterwards bush signed autographs and took pictures with supporters. why he says south carolina is a good place for him coming up at 6:00. in abbeville ted cruz's father , was talking to voters about why they should vote for his son. at natty's on trinity rafael cruz talked about his son's defense of 2nd amendment rights
for what america represents. >> my son ted cruz is running against what he calls the washington cartel. corrupt career politicians in both parties. again, i want to ask you to join us. together we can make america again that shining city on the hill to the glory of god. gabrielle: rafael cruz also talked about how this election will shape the future in terms of the supreme court. he says it's imperative that voters elect someon who will honor the constitution. nigel: we are your home for your commitment 2016 residential coverage. tomorrow the gop candidates will take the stage for their final debate. as soon as the debate ends, make sure you switch to news four at 11:00.
don't forget to make the switch. now to the hillary clinton campaign today a new campaign ad , was released that reflected back on the tragic shooting at emanuel ame church back in june. the ad had mixed initial reactions. >> somebody called me on the phone. >> here it is hillary clinton's newest ad in south carolina. in the ad the husband of one of the emanuel nine talks about the tragic loss of his wife last june and about what he says is hillary clintons commitment to gun control. >> my initial reflex reaction was i cringed. i felt immediate exploitation and emotional manipulation. >> we showed the ad to two
i don't endorse any particular candidate right now and i am certainly a second amendment believer but i think the ad touches the heart of what we need to do as a country and why these laws are important. >> both said this ad speaks directly to congregations like theirs. i know that there is an effort for her to secure the african american vote. >> but does it go too far? i believe that touches a deep place in everybody soul i mean wow automatically you are going to feel compassion you are going to feel like you cant imagine what he is going trough but that's politics though. i asked them both and even though their reactions to the ad were different they both say the fact that it's a personal story told by a victims husband who wants something done they say that was his choice. >> he beyond all of us has a right to say i chose to take part in this and if he decides thats what he wants to do then who are we to say wether we should or should not because his loss is
and real. nigel: the title of the ad is simply one word standing. greenville area. we have dried out. degrees. gilliard: you know, there's an old saying about south carolina, we're always first in the things that are last and last in the things that are first. this economy is rigged. we can do better. and that's where bernie comes in. bernie is not in the pocket of wall street. we don't have to depend on the so-called wall street giants.
everybody knows the problem. bernie wants to do something about it. he gets it. i mean, he really gets it.
