two years ago during a street race. >> reporter: prince george's county police call this a hot spot for illegal street racing. the department's traffic enforcement unit was working wednesday night when they spotted hundreds of people preparing for a fast race. >> the traffic unit observed approximately 200 individuals that appeared to be getting ready to either participate in or to be an audience for some type of a speed contest. >> reporter: police passed out nearly 100 traffic tickets and impounded four cars. the bust happened near a part of 210 where in 2008, a car in an illegal race veered out of control and slammed in a crowd of spectators. the crash killed eight and seriously injured six others. this time with the help of new technology, police were able to shut down the race before it began. >> what happens is we drive around and scans all of the vehicles it passes. >> reporter: the mobile tag reader is normally use forward parking enforcement. police used it last week to check for stolen tags on cars at the race site. this effort prevented more street racing injuries and dea

new evidence revealed ahead of george zimmerman's murder trial. trayvon martin caught on camera just minutes before he was fatally shot. randall pinkston reports for wjz with the images that may be too graphic for some. >> reporter: a surveillance camera inside a florida convenience store captured trayvon martin buying candy and an iced tea just 20 minutes before he was shot to death. the video is just part of evidence files released by florida prosecutors. also included, crime scene photos showing a bullet casing in the grass. and this one of zimmerman's 9-millimeter gun and holster. they are photos of zimmerman taken just after the shooting, showing what appears to be a broken nose, and bloody cuts on the back of his head. the autopsy report on trayvon martin shows the gunshot wound in his chest. the burns suggest that the two men were no more than 18 inches apart. the report also details a bruise on martin's eye and small scars on both hands, suggesting he had been in a fight. there are details about witnesses. one said he saw a black male wearing a dark hoodie on top of a hispani
